KUALA LUMPUR: Former Transport Minister Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy has been acquitted by the High Court here over cheating charges in the Port Klang Free Zone case in 2011.

Chan was acquitted after the prosecution withdrew the charges against him Monday, after the Attorney-General's Chambers reviewed letter of representation by the defence.

He was represented by Datuk Tan Hock Chuan while Datuk Nordin Hassan was the deputy public prosecutor.

On Feb 28, 2011, Chan was charged with three counts of cheating then Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Badawi by deceiving him into approving Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd (KDSB) as the turnkey developer for the RM1.9bil transport hub in the Pulau Indah Free Zone and renovation works at the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) site, between 2004 and 2006.

Chan, 58, allegedly concealed the fact that the project would be funded by a KDSB bond through Transhipment Megahub Berhad, supported by himself as Transport Minister.

He was charged with committing the offences at the fourth floor of the Prime Minister's Office, Perdana Putra building in Putrajaya.

The charge, under Section 417 of the Penal Code, carries a five-year imprisonment or fine or both, upon conviction.

On Oct 25, former Transport Minister Tun Ling Liong Sik was freed by a High Court here from a charge of cheating the Government and the Cabinet involving the purchase of a 335.8ha land totalling RM1.08bil for the PKFZ project.

JOHOR BAHRU - Kelembapan ekonomi dunia dan permintaan pembelian kereta import berkurang sejak beberapa tahun kebelakangan ini, memberi kesan kepada pemegang permit import (AP).

Pengerusi Eksekutif Kumpulan Mutiara Motors Sdn Bhd, Datuk Ahmad Kemin menafikan dakwaan Pengarah Strategi PKR, Rafizi Ramli bahawa syarikat menjual kereta import dengan senang peroleh untung sehingga RM60,000 untuk sebuah kenderaan.

“Mana untungnya RM60,000. Perkara ini tidak logik. Dengan keadaan sekarang, kami penjual kereta import dalam keadaan yang tenat.

“Jika dikira, sebuah kereta untung RM24,000, namun ia perlu ditolak bagi bayaran AP sebanyak RM10,000. Ini tidak termasuk kos baik pulih dan cat, untung (yang dapat) tidak seberapa pun,” katanya kepada Sinar Harian.

Ahmad yang telah 30 tahun menceburi bidang perniagaan kereta menasihatkan Rafizi supaya membuat kajian dahulu sebelum beri kenyataan mengenai cadangan yang dikemukakannya untuk sistem pembidaan AP bagi menggantikan pemberian AP.

Katanya, syarikat pengimport kereta luar memerlukan modal untuk menyediakan bilik pameran, pejabat dan menguruskan lebih 200 kakitangan serta kos lain.

“Sebuah kereta laku pada bulan tertentu, pastinya tidak cukup untuk menyelesaikan ‘overhead cost’.

“Saya mengucapkan terima kasih kepada kerajaan yang menunda kenaikan cukai sehingga Disember ini. Ia amat membantu kami,” katanya.

Beliau berkata, bagi tahun ini, syarikatnya hanya menjual 30 peratus daripada kuota yang diterimanya.

Beliau juga mahu kerajaan memastikan syarikat yang benar-benar menjalankan perniagaan kereta import dengan betul terus diberi AP dan berharap pemberian AP diteruskan, bukan tamat pada 2015 seperti dicadang sebelum ini.

Adnan said he had instructed his officials to conduct a thorough study on the terms and conditions of the water agreement, including the price mechanism.

The water transfer project between the two states was supposed to pump 1,890 million litres of raw water daily from Sungai Semantan in Pahang to the Hulu Langat water treatment facility in Selangor.

Raw water will be transferred through a 44.6km-long and 5.2m-diameter tunnel, with gravity flow to the water treatment plant.

The tunnel, to be bored through the Titiwangsa Main Range, will be the longest and biggest in South-East Asia. The raw water supply to Selangor is expected to generate an income of about RM70mil annually for the Pahang government at a price of 10 sen per cubic metre.

However, the rate is to be reviewed once every five years.

Adnan said the agreement was still binding but Pahang was upset the current Selangor government was continuing to politicise the issue.

He said that during earlier negotiations with former Selangor mentri besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo, Pahang had agreed to lower the price from 15 sen to 10 sen per cubic metre in exchange for a share in the water treatment plant.

A friend of mine who is a Christian Indian passed away last monday... I just got the news today... the funeral was done yesterday afternoon... and I didnt get the chance to attend... so now I m thinking of visiting his family to convey my condolences... is there any pantang larang and should I bring anything for the family?

I got idea to solve rempit problem

so simple la the solution... dunno why gomen so headache wan to think...

if you guys look at rempits their machine of choice would be those 2strokes bike... ie RXZ... 125z... and they modify their bikes until can go very fast fast wan... some can even go 180kmph... small samor so can cilok here there in traffic jam... how pulis wanna catch...

solution:
1. no more sell bikes using chain... those rxz, ex5, 125z... all use chain... so parts easy easy can get and modify bike...
2. scrap all bikes using chain... all send for recycle... no one can use...
3. sell scooters and superbikes oni... scooters can modify but not much difference liao... how fast can modified scooter go? superbikes expensive... rempit no money to buy...

see... simple oni... now all using scooter... better environment... rempit also cannot cari makan...

what you all think?
