Import Goods / Transshipment with Courier

Hi guys, I’ve never quite got around to having a solution for this.

My business focuses on sales of spare parts. So there are some recent orders where the customer is located outside of Malaysia, and for these orders, I have to source the parts from Europe.

Now, if i send the goods (via courier) directly to the customer in let’s say Singapore, the customer would then get to see my supplier information and buying prices through the commercial invoice in the package.

But if i first bring the goods to Malaysia, and then reexport to Singapore, I’ll have to pay Malaysian duties and taxes, which makes my price less competitive.

Is there a way to go about this, using regular courier services like DHL, FedEx etc?

I know it’s called transshipment, but I don’t think it’s so straightforward to do it using courier service?

Thanks!

Paying Supplier Abroad

I have to make a payment to supplier abroad about 36,000EUR (approx 171k MYR). Supplier is based in Netherlands. FTT thru local bank might not be competitive due to exchange rate and all the other fees involved.

I checked Wise, max they allow only 30k MYR transfer each time. It's gonna be troublesome to make multiple transfers with Wise.

If I use Wise business, only can send in EUR, which still involves me doing an FTT.

Previous transfers were all done using FTT over the counter at bank branch. But this was pre-covid. Now go to bank have to queue etc. But one advantage is bank manager will give better rate than board rate. If do FTT via online banking, not entitled to such exchange rates.

Any other suggestions?

Bridge Mode Riger Adm-206

Hi there,

About a year ago, I have subscribed to Streamyx 8Mbps in my company/work home (this house don't require Unifi). TM gave me the shitty ADSL Riger ADM-206 router.

I have a spare unused DLink DIR-619 from my office and want to pair this with the Riger 206 because the Riger is really crap.

The Riger just needs to handle ADSL/PPPoE activities and DIR-619 to handle all the WiFI/DHCP/routing activities.

Anyone can guide me on how to put the Riger in the relevant(bridge) mode to achieve this? Also, I am unsure if the DIR-619 can do the PPPoE? If yes, I rather set up the DIR-619 to do the PPPoE as well..

Hope someone can put me in the right direction.

Thanks

Home Broadband Recommendation

Hi guys, I need broadband recommendation for my house. The place I live is not under unifi or time fibre coverage. So it's either gonna be ADSL or 4G wireless broadband.

My main type of usage if gonna be IPTV streaming, Netflix, Youtube, online movies.. so unlimited quota is absolutely necessary.

These are my choices below:

1. Streamyx 8Mbps. Port available in my area, unlimited quota, but RM140 a month/24month contract. Not sure about peak hour performance, neighbours told me it can get slow.

2. Digi Infinite 150. Haven't tested fully yet but need to buy a good router such as Huawei B618 for full performance which cost RM500 minimum. Monthly package is RM150.

3. MaxisOne Go WIfi. Monthly is RM138 for 65GB quota. Performance is amazing in my area, tested a friend's unit, but only thing its limited to 65GB which I think won't be sufficient for me.

Please give me your input guys. I'm inclined to choose Streamyx 8MB but worried about ADSL performance during peak period/rain times as I had bad experience before with ADSL. Another thing its 24month contract and rather pricey at RM140 for slow speed.

kena langgar by unlicensed driver

guys, my car qot hit yesterday by an unlicensed lady driver with 2 young kids inside her car.

the damage is gonna cost about RM1k to repair. Initially, the lady was arrogant for someone driving without license & breaking the law.

I told her I'm going to make police report on my part as that is my right, but she begged & plead me not to because she don't have any license and been driving without license for 1 year..

what shall I do guys? It's very irresponsible for her to drive without license especially with 2 young kids inside the car and without proper kid seats & kids weren't wearing safety belt..

Does anyone know any company that provides a Singapore shipping address & mail forwarding service? Similar to comgateway or Vpost but with Singapore address. I tried checking with Vpost and VShub but none of these has SG address..

The store I am buying from ships to SG using USPS priority for cheap compared to direct ship to Msia. Then from singapore forward to Msia using Singpost which should cost not more than 10 or 15SGD.. Thanks

warranty dilemma

hey guys, i don't know if its wise to open a thread just for this but please try to help me out yea.

I have a N85 AP unit and about 3 weeks back, the phone's LCD went blank with just a few lines and dots on it. So i took it back to the shop I bought it from and sent it for warranty claim. This afternoon the shop guys calls me and tells that my LCD unit has broken or something like that and I need to pay RM380 if I want it changed. I asked him what about the warranty and he says that part of the LCD is not covered. He also told me that if I decide to change the LCD unit, there will be warranty for the unit if it spoils again. But it clearly states on my warranty card that LCD is covered for 12 months.

So I'm in a dilemma now. Should I pay the RM380 to change the LCD or shall I send it elsewhere? From what I've heard, there are shops in Digital Mall that can repair the LCD for much cheaper but without warranty I think. I don't know how far this is true but that's what my colleague told me. My AP warranty is from Final Choice by the way.

Please give me your suggestion guys. Is it worth spending the money at Final Choice or shall I take it outside? Thanks guys

waja sluggish autobox

lately my 2004 waja's autobox has been acting weirdly. when the car is cold/cold start, the gear change from first to second has been very sluggish. it takes a long time to shift into second and the when it changes the car jerks.

and when it is in second, and i apply the brakes to stop at a junction the car stops but the gear remains in second and it idles at 1500rpm. and when i have stopped for about 3 or 4 seconds, it downshifts again to first gear and it idles at 800rpm.

but after i have moved for about 2 to 3 minutes the gear changes becomes normal.. smooth shifting.. it only happens when the car is cold or not used for a few hours.

my car's mileage currently is 85000km and I have changed the ATF at 80000km. what could be the problem? is my gearbox showing signs of breaking down? and also the check engine light shows up for about 5 to 8 seconds after starting my car.

she cheated!

i was going out with her for about 3 months.. then one fine day she decided to go clubbing with her friends. i couldn't go cause i was in penang for a business trip. the next afternoon she called me and told me that she met a bangla mix canadian guy, who is younger than me in the club the previous night and he came up to her and did a dirty dance. she calls the guy 'afghan'!

so after clubbing, she gave him her number and at 4am he called her up and took her to the mamak nearby.. i was still cool about this cause i thought he could be just another friend.

soon after that, everytime i call her, the conversation was always about 'afghan'. but she kept telling me that she doesnt like him cause he was always acted like an ass and he gave her lots of problems.

then last saturday was sunburst, she went for it with one of her friends. and she told me that she met 'afghan' there and he helped get tickets for her friend.

and after sunburst, she went to BB starbucks with him.. he bought her coffee and while they were hanging out, he kissed her neck and told her that he loves her.

she told me about this the next day and i was upset. she told me to rethink our relationship. she told me she likes him only, but if she tried, she could love him. and while we were talking, i could sense that she wanted to be with him. she was telling me that how good he is and how he buys her everything and takes her everywhere..

and that night i decided to let her go. i knew she wanted to be with him and she will be happy with him. so i let her go and i have lost her to someone that could possibly be better than me! all i want is for her to be happy.

i checked her blog after letting her go, and she posted up pictures of them together in starbucks and sunburst. and she even wrote there she was obsessed to him..

so what do u think guys? did i do the right thing? or was i stupid enough to let her go just like that? she was cheating on me and she even told me that she was sorry that she cheated!
