OPEN DISCUSSION: How to improve Internet

Just for open discussion to gather more information and possible solution.

I have users, estimate from 50 to 300 users, all on heavy usage of Media Streaming, such as Youtube, Facebook Video, and etc.

My internet ISP, 2MB Lease Line from TM and 8MB Lease Line from P1.
My location currently no Unifi Coverage yet.

I have tried on Internet Caching Solution, but it does not really improve that much, the most is only 20% improvement over testing period of 2 weeks. The internet caching also cache the Media Streaming as well.
Tested appliance, big super expensive Enterprise Appliance and Linux Open Source.
This is mainly because of the Caching Solution currently available does not cache on HTTPS at the moment.

I cant do speed throttling as these users are renting customers.

I am thinking of packet content-based routing but unsure if this will work.

Does anybody have any idea or have implement solutions for my problem here?

Please share.

Thanks.

wireless strength doubts

yo guys... i have a doubt here...

let say i am using a AP with 10dbi and my normal laptop.

10dbi range can go quite far... but for laptop, the range is not tat great....

so my question here... if the laptop is 50 to 100 meters away from the AP tat is connected to the 10dbi, how does the laptop transmit the signal back to the AP when the laptop builtin antenna is about 2 to 3 dbi....

or does the laptop actually use the same wave transmit by the 10dbi antenna back to the AP?

Cisco Router need help

guys, im doing a networking for my customer and im facing a problem here. hope someone can help me out here.

It is using a static IP from streamyx. Currently I am having problem with the host cannot access to the internet. The host can ping 192.168.104.1 and 192.168.0.2 only. Host cant ping 192.168.0.1 which is the ADSL modem interface. The ADSL modem is use to dial to the internet and the static IP address belongs to the modem. Primary objective of using this cisco router is for VPN connection. The router will make the vpn connection from cisco router to cisco router, both same model. Its a cisco 1841 router.

All connection is by LAN RJ45 except the normal ADSL internet is the normal telephone RJ11 connection.

My question here,

how to make current configurations so tat all the hosts are able to connect to the internet?

is it possible to make the cisco router to dial to the internet? I mean, the modem will not dial but use the cisco router to dial to internet. For example, in a normal house networking, instead of letting a ADSL modem to connect to the internet, we use a PC to dial into the internet. This means that the PC itself will have the public IP address already right? So can this be done for the cisco router?

Here is the configurations I have done for the cisco router. This list of configuration I copy paste from the command of 'show run'

QUOTE

Router#show run
Building configuration...

Current configuration : 1373 bytes
!
version 12.4
service timestamps debug datetime msec
service timestamps log datetime msec
no service password-encryption
!
hostname Router
!
boot-start-marker
boot-end-marker
!
enable secret 5 $1$eTL/$ltLZUvbTkwKycYPUxWl5/0
enable password xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
!
no aaa new-model
!
resource policy
!
ip cef
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
crypto isakmp policy 10
encr 3des
authentication pre-share
group 2
crypto isakmp key xxxx address 125.215.252.48
!
!
crypto ipsec transform-set tset esp-3des esp-sha-hmac
!
crypto map i-map 10 ipsec-isakmp
set peer 125.215.252.48
set transform-set tset
match address 150
!
!
!
!
interface Loopback0
no ip address
!
interface FastEthernet0/0
ip address 192.168.0.2 255.255.255.0
duplex auto
speed auto
crypto map i-map
!
interface FastEthernet0/1
ip address 192.168.104.1 255.255.255.0
duplex auto
speed auto
!
interface FastEthernet0/0/0
!
interface FastEthernet0/0/1
!
interface FastEthernet0/0/2
!
interface FastEthernet0/0/3
!
interface Vlan1
no ip address
!
router rip
network 192.168.0.0
network 192.168.104.0
!
!
!
no ip http server
no ip http secure-server
!

access-list 150 permit ip 192.168.104.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255
!
!
!
!
!
!
control-plane
!
!
!
line con 0
line aux 0
line vty 0 4
password xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
login
!
scheduler allocate 20000 1000
end

Router#

How to enable Fax function?

I have a server with external fax modem running on FC7. I cant find any fax function. I turn on the modem then only I boot the FC7, the only LED light turn on is only the power light. From what I know, the TR (terminal ready) light should be turn on to indicate the server will be in stanby mode and answer an incoming call. I already tried to make a call to the modem hoping it will automatically answer the call but there is only a normal ringing tone, not a fax tone at all.

Any idea how to get it done? Is there any built-in fax capability in FC7 with software in it? or do I need an external 3rd party fax software?
