KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 — Anyone who flies out from Malaysia will have to pay tax in the form of a departure levy ranging from RM8 to RM150 from this September 1, the government has announced.

In a ministerial order gazetted by the Federal Government on July 31, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng set out the departure levy rates depending on the destination abroad and whether the flight is economy class.

For those flying out from Malaysian to Asean countries, a departure levy of RM8 will be imposed for economy class passengers on flights while those flying other than economy class will be charged RM50.

Asean countries are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Those flying out from Malaysia to other countries outside of the Asean region will be charged a departure levy of RM20 if they are flying economy, and RM150 if they are flying other than economy class.

Economy class refers to flights that are advertised and sold by airlines using economic terms or their equivalent, or having the lowest prices when compared to other packages, the Departure Levy (Rate of Departure Levy) Order 2019 explained.

In a separate order also dated July 31, the finance minister said the departure levy will be imposed from September 1.

Separately in another order dated July 31, Lim said the departure levy will not be imposed on infants and toddlers aged below 24 months or two years old or pedestrians.

Also exempted from the departure levy are aircraft passengers transiting via Malaysia, namely if they arrive in Malaysia from abroad and leave (whether it is in the same or different aircraft or with the same or different flight number) Malaysia to the next destination with the transit period not exceeding 12 hours.

Exempted from the departure levy are any crew on duty on board any vehicle (including aircraft or vessel), and anyone driving or riding any type of vehicle for personal use (including aircraft or vessel) and pillion riders or passengers of such vehicles.

Petaling Jaya - A rude car salesman at a local workshop in Petaling Jaya is in hot soup after a customer posted about an encounter online on their Facebook page.

Full-time student Agnes Ng was at the workshop in mid- March with her fiancé, insurance agent Johnathan Chan, to buy a brand new car for their upcoming wedding.

Miss Ng wrote in her Facebook post on April 1: "We wanted to get a Myvi but a brand new BMW330E caught Johnathan’s eye. While my fiancé and I were looking at it, this salesman said to his colleague, ‘How can some people come looking at BMW when they can’t afford to buy decent clothes for themselves? How pathetic, get a Myvi instead."

The 22-year-old said that she watched her fiancé’s face frown, as he felt bad about not being able to afford a BMW. The couple then applied for a loan to get a Myvi and left.

The Facebook post, which has more than 76,000 likes and 56,000 shares so far, garnered support from netizens who praised the couple for not standing up to the salesman.

Ms Ng added, “We are young and just starting out in life, and I understand my fiancé is not rich. I was so embarrassed and I wished I could put a bunch of money on the table to shut his mouth”.

But fate was about to turn. Ms. Ng went home that night and found her brother jumping around shouting “I’ve won!”. It turns out he had just won RM750 on a new online slots game. After he explained to Ms. Ng how it worked she decided to give it a go.

Ms. Ng said, "I used the 30% Welcome Bonus + 10% Unlimited Bonus but didn’t win anything, unlike my brother. However, I was still feeling down about what happened earlier so I decided to deposit RM50 and try again. Well on my third spin, I won the mega-jackpot of RM416,872!"

So today a kid came in want to "intern" learn about how law firms work etc, usually we give a bullshit interview just let them come talk cock and inform them by evening to drop by tomorrow for 2-3 weeks, but this girl who came in today studies in UK wanted to learn civil litigation which was interesting because 9/10 only want to know about criminal litigation, during interview she kept bragging about her high mensa score and how shes a member of mensa, got 135 iq trying to hit 140 next exam, i had to hold in my laughter after she went on about 2-3 minutes about being a member of mensa, can see why my friend recommended her to come to my firm, might not offer her a place will think about it during lunch.

My question to you guys:
1. Does anyone (in any field) ever care about the IQ of new employees?

The number 1 reason non-bumi butthurt with this requirenent is because you think the company use it as a way to discrininate against non-bumi.

That is bodoh logic. If a company really want to discrininate non-bumi they can simply throw away all non-bumi applicant cv.

No company will intentionally limit the worker pool which causes higher pay if non-bumi can do the job just as well.

Bumiputera quota is not a race issue, its a social issue. Problem is many people just get triggered and whole brain only got race.

Hey guys, i was flying form Aus to Malaysia, was stopped and asked if i was carrying above $10k i said no, they brought me to a separate room to check, i took out all the money which was about RM9k in mixed currencies, they totally ignored the money and went straight for my laptop, guy was asking me weird questions:1

1. am i religious (he thought i was Muslim)
2. have i been anywhere in past 3 months (i found this odd because i was leaving the country not entering, and i told him twice that i was doing my post grad in law and my sem just ended.
3. he asked me my post grad course, i told it to him and he asked it again mid way and changed the question.

So when my laptop came out one of the agent placed it on the table, and a second one took it aside blocked my view and turned my laptop on, he was messing around my laptop for a good 5-8 minutes and when he was returning it i noticed my laptop light was turned on, i opened the screen it was on the BIOS menu specifically on the "insert admin key" page. They told me they mistakenly pressed F2 and got that screen (im using a Razer blade, bios key is f12 or DEL for booting options) this raised my flags like crazy!

I found the whole process suspicious as fuck and i want to know what you guys think they did to my laptop and is there any where i can reset it to factory setting? I really think they did something to my laptop it at times does feel a little slower, any one has any idea or knowledge on what they did or how to reset my laptop to factory setting?

A labor law related question

I have a question: let's say Abdul is employed by ABC to work at E, so Abdul goes to sign the contract suddenly he saw that ABC ask him to sign a DEF contract to work at E, however everything is done by ABC, they are the paymaster, the people who file the visa to work at E and they even paid compensation when Abdul was injured while working at E, how to prove Abdul is working at ABC and not DEF which is a shell company? Also everyone who is Working at E is from ABC via DEF, and there is a witness that states the same as Abdul. But how do I prove it. Pls help/troll accordingly.

Hi, I have been meaning to write this for quite a while now about my journey and experiences at tomorrow land seeing that quite a number of people have pmed me since august asking me to give some info on the trip.
First and foremost the trip was FREAKING AWESOME!!!!

So let me start with the basic, that is acquiring tickets for your trip, what you need to do is register as early as possible during the initial announcement and best to do it with a group of friends (max tickets you can buy at a transaction is 4). Price of tickets is 145 euro per day for VIP and 95 euro per day for normal(I think), once payment is made you will get an email like below, MAKE SURE YOU INPUT YOUR DETAILS CORRECTLY OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE A MASSIVE NIGHTMARE TRYING TO CHANGE THEM, I KNOW BECAUSE I PRESSED NEXT BEFORE I COULD ENTER MY MAILING ADDRESS!!! Took me nearly 4 1/2 months emailing back and forth trying to change the details to receive the bracelet on time.

So once we were hyped up like crazy for our trip we went on to book our flight, seeing that my friends are from sg and I'm from Malaysia, i choose to fly down to sg and fly to Belgium from there, we booked our flight VIA Qatar Airways all in all we paid only $1255.55 SGD for 3 people from Singapore to Belgium, which was quite cheap and unbelievable, book your tickets as early as possible try to book it right after you get your tickets. Qatar airways may be cheap but get ready to sit in Doha airport for 6-8 hours and let me tell you based on multiple experience that this airport expansive and very boring.

So after getting our air ticket and tomorrow land tickets we were looking for a place to stay, my suggestions is to stay as close to the event as possible but not to stay in the event itself.

Here's a link for the best hotel with least distance to festival, but I didn't know about this list till I came back from the event, me and my friends stayed in Antwerp which is about 20-30mins away from Boom, big mistake, seeing how much we spent on transportation to get from Boom back to our hotel, if you are planning to stay in the festival till exactly 1am you are going to have a bad time coming out , getting onto a bus is really impossible, you might reach home at 3-4am waiting for busses and taxi cost us about 50euro from Boom to Antwerp, and from Antwerp to our hotel was another 20 euro's.

So once you're in tomorrow land and the festival started, you are going to see the most diverse crowd you've ever seen in your life, from Australians all the way to Zimbabwean. This year there were many Jews from Israel literally every 30 seconds walk you can see an Israeli flag. People there are very nice and generally accepting of your faith or being, so don't worry if you think you're fat ugly gay or anything, as long as you are a nice person they will treat you equally.
In the grounds there are food and drinks station that you can purchase stuff off via tokens, 10 euro gets you 7 tokens, which amounts to about 1 decent meal and 1-2 alcoholic beverage. Queuing up for stuff takes quite some time ESP during peak queue hours, normally after big DJ sets, people will start to go and grab something to eat or drink and queue can get quite long, from 10-15mins to get a drink or food. However if you have a VIP pass like I had you can skip this queue by going up to the VIP deck and buying drinks from there, food at the VIP deck is freaking tasty but its expensive as hell 20 euro for BBQ lobster and calamari. Drinks sold at normal area is only beer, juice, soft drinks, water, and a canned tequila mix that will get you HAF in 3-5 cans (matters on your tolerance). VIP bar on the other hand have really awesome stuff, you have basically all those drinks that rich kids drink in clubs, from expensive champagnes to overpriced vodka, to a 40,000 euro bottle of whiskey that was sold on the first day(not me ofc )

So to sum up this essay total spent was:
336 euro on ticket
418 sgd on the flight
160 euro on hotel (5 nights)
And nearly 1000 euro on food/transportation/drinks/"swag"/ shopping.
The total was nearly 8k, but I didn't fly from SG to Brussels only for tomrrowland I went to France and Italy also but that cost wasn't calculated into this.

TL:DR version
It was super fun spent nearly 8k on that trip alone, worth the money.

P/s: sorry for the essay, i find it much easier to talk about it in person, and photos can be really big so mind you that.
