Before you mods lock this thread, this is not a duplicate thread. My reason is that the 6500 Slide and 6500 Classic phones should have 2 separate threads because these are two VERY different phones as stated here

Q&A
Can flash backgrounds and wallpapers be used with the 6500 Slide?
Yes they can. (Special thanks to kinwah_lai for answering this question)

Where is the ambient light sensor?
It is placed on top next to the speaker grill, opposite the front camera

Can the ambient light sensor be disabled?
No it can't

Handphones in Malaysia and online

As some may know, I'm very very excited and want the Nokia 6500 Slide so badly. Unfortunately, it is not available in shops yet. However, there are sellers like Renee on LYN who have been selling ori Nokia 6500 Slide units since almost 2 weeks ago. It's ori, we are not talking about AP or water goods - it is the 6500 Slide original unit.

Alright, so why is it that Nokia or Avaxx or Zitron or whichever party who is involved.... is making us wait sooooo LONG for any Nokia 6500 Slide to even reach ANY shop in Malaysia? None of the many shops I checked with even have an AP 6500 Slide. In case someone asks me why not I buy online straight away, I want to hands-on try the phone (ergonomics and feel, interface, etc) before I come about my final purchase decision.

So why? Why? Singapore already selling 6500 Slide, online on LYN already selling 6500 Slide, both started selling a whole 2 weeks ago. and still no sight of a single unit in shops?

This phone is very new in Malaysia, 6500 Slide, not even available in most shops yet, most are sold online currently. Is there already any crystal case available for this model?

Ok, I did something stupid and ran a program my friend sent me and suddenly my (expired) McAfee Security Centre comes up with warning 'Keylog_armadax.dll' detected. So the kiasu me quickly clicks 'remove using McAfee method'.

I am running Windows Vista with the latest Windows Update but expired McAfee Security Centre. It says the file was found at C:\User\user\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows\System32\28463\POLG.007

Am I affected by this spyware which I assume is a keylogger? How do I check whether I am and how to defend myself?

What is the Sony Ericsson theme with the flash wallpaper with moving colourful lines? Some of the K-series has it and it looks quite cool.

I am thinking of creating my own flash background to pimp my phone but I dunno...

1. Whether Nokia S40 OS can support flash wallpaper (preferably in .swf format)
2. Whether the wallpaper will self repeat (keep playing the animation) or only once (aiya means I have to duplicate the frames again and again)?

Anyone got expericence tried doing this ?

Which phone's camera would you prefer

Option 1 is VGA camera but the response time is good (click button --> snap photo)

Option 2 is higher resolution 1 MP camera but it is slow in taking, have to wait 2-3 seconds before the camera actually takes a photo (read carefully, time taken from click to take picture - NOT storage time)

I have a Creative MP3 player which has always given me very good sound with equalizer off but bass boost on. Recently I tried listening to music on another MP3 which has no 'bass boost' option. However I tried adjusting the 5 band equalizer, I still could not get the sound to be as good as my Creative player. What are the recommended settings (slide up/down) for a 5 band equalizer to get very good boom-n-bass from music? Preferably any Sony Ericsson 'Mega Bass' copycat settings out there?

What can be done in 3 weeks?

Nokia has excluded this feature on their newer phones like 6500 Classic/Slide, 7500/7900 Prism, 8600 Luna, etc. Not sure about N95. SE also left it out on a few high end phones. which makes me wonder: Is infrared dead?

I mean we can do the same thing as infrared via Bluetooth; faster, further away (up to 10m? instead of port facing port). Does anyone agree/disagree?

Nokia 6500 Classic/Slide in Malaysia

I am excited about these two phones Nokia 6500 classic and slide - My bias is towards Slide but still considering whether should buy Classic or not (More style, smaller but no memory card slot ). My friend in Singapore already bought his one for SGD 500. So I went online and looked at Singapore's Hardware Zone and the 6500 Slide already selling since September 28 or 29 for around SGD $450+ convert to ringgit still quite affordable RM1000+

However, when I did a search here, it seems not many people are interested in the 6500 Classic/slide last discussion was August. I tried calling up my phone dealer but he said dunno when will launch. Anyone know of the release date of these two Nokia 6500s in Malaysia? I want to upgrade my phone by next week already, very tension these phones not available yet .

Btw I notice that local Nokia price for ori units (dunno AP prices) is quite expensive compared to other countries/brands in Malaysia? Example: Nokia 7500 prism is 350 SGD (=RM800) versus RM999 in shops here. Sony Ericsson W610 release price in Europe: 300 Euro (=RM1500) but much cheaper when arrive in Msia RM1100
