Thinkpad T42 scrren goes blank

I need to back up a PC but it screen's goes blank after a few seconds. I looked at this post http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread...t=304251&page=2 that explained it could be a gpu problem but mine it doesn't need to be moved. It just happens.

Eventhough I should just remove the hard disk and use IDE convertor to backup it up, but I'm just curious because after restarting, the screen will act normally for a few seconds again.

Presario 4150, keyboard's is deteriorating?

Before I tell a friend to buy a new laptop just because I suspected her presario 4150 keyboards's spacebar and backslash key is not working, u, i, o, j, k, l, returns numeric instead of alphabets. so I booted that laptop with my sysrescuecd and the spacebar and backslash still doesn't work, just to confirm if it's a software thingy.

Any opinion or past experiences?

Can the keyboard be replaced?
Printing with Ubuntu

I can't get my Canon iP1000 to work with Feisty 7.04, so I'd like to know if there's any available printer at Low Yat, I mean like now, with price below RM 200. I just want to print out eBooks and letters. Nothing fancy.
