Daily rate salary- No annual leave?

Hi, a friend just accepted a job thru agent, one year contract. In the contract stated the salary rate of RMXXX/day.
Is she entitled to paid annual leave or paid public holiday?

Because she just got her first salary, and just the day she goes to work she got paid (Christmas and new year didn't get paid).

Is this right?
