Frequency converter for electric appliance

Hi guys

Does anyone know if there is any economical way to change the frequency for our power supply?

I just purchased a coffee machine from the US which is rated 120V/60Hz. I thought it will work well with a step down transformer but unfortunately the water pump doesn't work (confirm this from other people who had similar issues in the forums). The machine turns on but just doesn't activate the pump.

I supposed most of the transformers sold does not change the frequency, am I right?

Window Inserts (Glass/Acrylic)

I am looking for more cost efficient windows inserts, to be placed over existing window frames for soundproofing/ noise reduction

Something like what is offered here https://indowwindows.com/solutions/window-noise-reduction/

Anyone knows a contact in Malaysia that can provide this?

Soundproof curtains

I am looking for special type of 'soundproof' curtains which can more effectively block sound, as there is lot of traffic noise coming to my condo.

The adage I read is that the thicker and heavier and more pleated the curtain, the better sound absorption = which means more material and $$

I have checked with one curtain company which has a type of soundproof curtain used for AV rooms. I notice the material is 75% polyester and 25% rayon. Most other velvet curtains i notice are full polyester, so i wonder is it the rayon that make a bit of difference there. It is not really a blackout curtain but i suppose it will cover most light as well.. I think it is quite pricey at RM120 per meter (currently offering discount of 30%), and was also saying something that the fabric roll is smaller and potentially more expensive to cover a large area.

Has anyone got experience buying these type of curtains before and have recommendations?

Maxis vs Celcom vs Digi

As highlighted by someone, Maxis has the most expensive postpaid BIS plan, followed by Celcom and Digi

I felt like a sucker paying RM120 for the unlimited postpaid plan when i dont even do tethering or really download lot of stuff in my BB (as i am only on EDGE). Most of the time just use for simple emails (trust me, even if u have attachments, u would be lazy to view it on a BB and expect to edit Word doc, Powerpoint, etc) and normal phone use. Actually the only reason i m hanging on is coz i can claim my BB charges and its easier to integrate and pay since my line is on Maxis. But anyway they are still sucking everyone by offering the same services for higher price

So tell me, what has Maxis got that others don't? I would expect them to lower the charge to be competitive but seems like its not happening

Is there such a similar thread btw? Sorry if i repeated..

Maxis Blackberry packages

Interested to get a Blackberry...matter of getting it at discounted price from Maxis through their plans/contract (150 Value Plus) or on its own (but having to subscribe to their service, probably the unlimited one RM120 per mth). However i m currently using the Maxis RM50 value plan as i m a light user. Hope some of the existing users can share their knowledge and understanding on this matter:

1) Does the RM150 Value Plus plan include data? as far as i m concerned, any GPRS data i use now is deducted from my Value Plan. Is it possible to include the unlimited data package as part of this plan (and not only voice)? Is it possible that i dont subscribe for any internet plan but just surf the Internet using credit from the RM150 Value Plus plan?

2) What is the difference going for the unlimited BB service at RM120 per month vs the traditional Maxis mobile internet unlimited package at RM99 per mth? What i understand is the special BB services u get, which is the push email.. What else is there? Coz i think it wouldn't really matter to me whether it is being 'pushed' every second or i can just configure my email to check the server occasionally (like every 5 mins or something). What i read from some posts is that BIS is essential to extract max value from your BB

Lenovo 3000 N100 (945GM chipset) Graphic Problem

My Lenovo 3000 N100 has a problem with its graphic chipset/resolution. It just happens suddenly

The resolution of the LCD drops a notch and I cant change it back to the default 1280x800. I can rectify this by reinstalling the graphic driver and restarting it. But once I shut down, the problem comes again.

It is running Centrino Duo (Core 2), based on the Intel 945GM chipset and on Windows XP

Anyone encounter this before? Weird thing is my ex colleague has it before and it just goes away.
