Hi everyone,

Needed some help deciding on a new mesh WiFi system for my home.

I originally considered just getting a better router but for some reason I'm getting some dead spots even though my house is tiny. My guess is it has something to do with my thick concrete walls.

In torn between getting the TP-Link Deco M9 Plus (tri-band) or the Deco X20 (dual band but wifi 6). Not sure if there's any other options around the RM1.1k range.

Which is the better option?

Tri-band WiFi 5 mesh system or Dual-band WiFi 6?

Touchscreen display + reverse camera for 1.3 Iriz?

Hi guys,

Wanna get your feedback.

If I get the 1.3 Iriz, how much would it cost for me to get a good touchscreen display with GPS and reverse camera integrated with installation?

I was thinking of getting the 1.6 but realised that the only real advantage (besides the engine size) is the in car entertainment. If I can get a good aftermarket system, I really only lose the audio controls on the steering wheel.

What do you guys think?

I'm getting a new car soon and want to get some work done on the tyres. I live in Putrajaya and don't like to travel too far out of my way for tyres (or anything for that matter).

Can anyone recommend a good tyre shop or workshop in general around these areas? Only criteria is fair price and trustworthy (won't try to con me). Have a bad experience with a tyre shop in Dengkil that refused to accept my request after showing them the Mitsubishi youtube video. They even started scolding me

Question on Savings Account

Hi guys,

I need some advice on which bank to choose to "dump" my money in as a savings account which I will later use for a rainy day or deposit for car, house, etc.

My story:

I've been working for about 1 year now and I have RM10k (roughly) saved up. I noticed though recently I haven't been as frugal as I used to be. My pay comes into the same Maybank account as my savings. What I want to do is set up an account to dump this 10k in and set up a standing order from my Maybank to put in a certain % of my pay into this account every month as well.

I will not take out money from this account very often as I mentioned earlier because it's for a rainy day, deposit, etc. I might require a ATM for emergencies but it wouldn't be utilized very often.

Which bank would you recommend?

I notice we have a small group of avid book readers here on LYN.

I recently came across a book exchange community and was wondering if those on LYN might be interested in something similar.

We could meet once a month and bring any books we might want to exchange or give away. We can also sit and discuss our favourite novels.

I think a place accessible by public transport would be easier for those who don't drive. Perhaps Old Town @Bangsar LRT?

What do you guys think? I'd love to meet some of you (especially the fantasy fans).

Hi, just wondering what would be a good UPS with AVR ability for under 300?

I'm about to buy a rig with these specs:

Intel Xeon E1230v2
MSI B75MA-P45
1x 8GB Value Ram
500GB WD Blue
Rosewill Hive 650M
24x LG DVD RW
Intel 520 SSD 120GB
AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB
Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23" Monitor

I'm guessing this rig would run at below 400W right?

Is Emerson a good option? The Emerson Liebert ITON 600VA is only RM180 without software. RM250 with software. Is the software worth the extra cash.

Wireless Adapter for Desktop

Hi guys, just wanted to ask, which is the best option for wireless adapters on a desktop?

I don't know much about these but these are my initial thoughts / assumptions:

1. PCI

PRO:
- no cables
- frees up USB ports
- better signal in theory

CONS:
- signal may be blocked by casing, making signal worse than USB.

2. USB

PRO:
-Cheap
-No cables
-Decent signal strength
-Signal not blocked

CONS:
-Takes up a USB port
-Weaker strength than other options

3. Ethernet Bridge

PRO:
-Versatile as can move about for optimum positioning.
-Uses LAN port
-No need for drivers (compatibality will never be an issue)

CONS:
-Power cable and LAN cable running around
-Most expensive option

Sorry if this has been asked before. I've read many threads but I'm still not clear.

I'm buying a new PC and am planning to buy Windows 8 for it.

My question, is the Windows 8 Pro (RETAIL) currently on offer at USD39.99 (download) / USD69.99 (shipped) here?
Or is this the 'upgrade' version? If so, where can I purchase the non-upgrade version?

I am aware that I can just install Windows 8 RC and be eligible for the upgrade at a cheap price but I'm interested in the regular version.

The criteria for the poll was that the series has to be finished or contains at least 3 books in the series.

Hence why Kingkiller Chronicles isn't here. I also didn't include Teen and YA fantasy such as Harry Potter , Twilight, Hunger Games, etc . But if you feel these books are with the read even for adults then feel free to discuss it here.

i got it because i only use 3g to check my email. occasionally twitter and fb.

but i need a good app that can monitor how much data traffic im using so i dont go over the 100mb mark.

Email Help

Hi, I bought a Nokia E5 today. My first smartphone.

I configured everything including the email app, at least I thought I did.

I set my priority connection to my home wifi and second priority being Maxis 3G.

Unfortunately, when I open my email app, the connection automatically uses Maxis 3G despite my home wifi being connected.

I don't know how money I've lost so far but I'd like this to stop before my phone bill hits hundreds.

Can anyone help me out here. What have I done wrong?

Phone Shop at KL Sentral

I was thinking of buying a phone from KL Central. The phone business here is dominated by V.V Group Sdn Bhd. They own all the stalls here, including the Digi and the Nokia store. I was just wondering if anyone has ever dealt with them and are they trustworthy. They say they only sell original phones but I dont see any Zitron, Avaxx or i-Mobile hologram stickers on their Nokia phones.

Some advice would be great.
