Looking For A Replacement LCD Screen for SE W660i

Hi all,

I am looking for a replacement LCD screen for my SE W660i, I accidentally tore the flex ribbon while reassembling the phone

(If you're not interested in reading my story, please skip to the summary at the end of this post )

At first the phone screen was going crazy from time to time, or just lit up in white with a faint 'X' in the middle, but I could solve this by waiting for the phone to enter standby (no signal going to screen) and then pressing down on the housing just above the right soft key, and then pressing any button to activate the screen. So I disassembled it and found that underneath this part of the housing was the flex ribbon for the screen and the connector connecting the ribbon to the board.

In attempting to solve the problem more permanently, I tried inserting varying thicknesses of double-sided tape in between the 'Z' of the flex ribbon and the board, so that the keypad and housing would push down on the connector. This worked inconsistently.

Yesterday, I found some foam double sided tape (like the kind used to stick car number plates etc., but not as thick la) and decided to try that. Unfortunately, when I put the battery in and tried turning it on, the screen did not even light up. I disassembled the phone and found that I had been careless when putting it back together and had torn the flex ribbon just a bit, enough to sever two connections.

Summary:

I found some replacement LCDs from eBay (not original, approx. MYR 41.77), a UK website (supposedly original, approx. MYR 93.19) and eBay (supposedly original, approx. MYR 64.25).

Can I buy this LCD screen cheaper or at the same price (non-original RM4X, original RM6X) from shops in Low Yat Plaza? A shop in Digital Mall PJ quoted me RM130 for the screen alone (without installation), the guy said that the screen was original. I don't want to waste my time going to Low Yat and finding out that the LCD screen also costs the same as Digital Mall, I might as well order from the internet and wait a few weeks for the screen to arrive.

Thanks for your time and answers!
