After working for 2 years for this company, they suddenly sent out a email in May 2013 to change our notice period to 3 months ( previous was 2 months ) ..all/most staff in the company got the email..

"It is our consistent endeavor to standardize and simplify our people policies and practices. Towards this objective, the notice period that either party is required to give for terminating employment after you have been confirmed, has been revised to three (3) months with effect from June 01, 2013. Any shortening of the notice period by you by payment of salary in lieu of notice must be agreed by XXXXXX."

manager does not want to let me leave earlier, and other company wants to buy out and does not want to wait so long...i already tendered..

am i doomed??

is this legal? no employee consent was obtained!!
