Watching distance and TV size

Wanna ask for opinion. I going to buy a LCD tv for my home. The watching distance is around 8'. Shall I go for 37" or 40"? I prefer 40" but I afraid that the distance is too near. 37" model is very limited and toshiba 40cv600 is selling at a very cheap price.

If 37", which model is better? Samsung LA37C530 or Pasasonic X20 or older Sharp 37A66?

Pls share with me ur opinion or experience.
