Homeplug issue?

I am using Unifi30.

1st scenario: OK (Full down and up speed)
BTU ------> Router ----Wifi/Cable----> Client

2nd scenario: 15 down 10 up on cable; slower on wifi
BTU ------> Aztech 200Mbps -----> Router ------> Client

Note:
1. Router is TP-Link 1043ND running OpenWRT
2. Router is connected to HyppTV.

According to Aztech, minus the overhead, actual throughput of the Homeplug is 90mbps. So, assuming Hypptv use 10mbps and 30mbps Internet; 10+30 = 40mbps.

Therefore, the homeplug's bandwidth is enough to support 40mbps. Question is, why am I getting 15mbps instead of 30?

Should I get 500Mbps Homeplug?

Mi5 vs 1+3 vs P9

Is this a difficult choice to make?

I am inclined to go for mi5 since I already use Xiaomi since Mi3 and I currently used a Mi4c and a Mipad. Would like to maintain that MIUI ecosystem but MIUI is getting weird and not exciting anymore.

Size wise, I prefer a 5 incher (5.2 is acceptable).

But then, 1+3 offer almost a plain vanilla Android. That is gooding.

Is P9 camera overrated?

How to verify I am connected via DC-HSPA+ on Android?

The reason I am asking this is I am using Celcom postpaid on Xiaomi Mi3 and my speedtests so far only maxed out at 20-21mbps. But Mi3 specs stated that max speed supported is 42 mbps.

My ride is a 2010 Persona Elegance with 76k km on the odo. I noticed the steering does not give much feedback as it used to be.

So what part of steering geometry that I need to replace? Bush?Rack?

Power steering fluid was replaced at 60/65k km.

WTA Printer Recommendation

As per topic title, can anyone recommend me an AIO printer which is suitable for low volume and infrequent home usage?

First priority is slow drying ink cartridge which can last for several months of no printing.

Second priority is a below RM200 price tag.

I am currently looking at Canon MP2570 and HP Deskjet 1050.

Protection Against Spam Email

I have been receiving spam emails in my work place's mail account. That email account is strictly for internal use only, therefore the address is not use elsewhere in the WWW.

Those spam emails basically send itself to all staff's email in my company mailing list. I suspect the addresses were harvested from the my company's website specifically through the staff directory.

So what can I suggest to the IT dept to protect the staff directory section of the website from spammers' web bot?I read that one method is to use poison CGI script.

Or can they put in an anti-spam filter in the mail server?

Hotlink Roaming Problem...

My gf had just come back from a buss trip in Thailand. During her trip, she can make+receive calls and sms on her hotlink just fine.

Now that she is back in Malaysia, she cannot receive calls and sms. She can call out but not send out sms.

Anyone face this prob before?

p/s: she did off and on the phone, took out the sim card and put it back in. she also called customer service but they asked her to go to maxis centre.

The Real Identity of My Proc

I just bought an Acer Aspire 4551 and the spec supposedly said that it has an AMD Athlon II X2 P320. As stated here: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/w...microprocessors , P320 is under the Chaplain codename with 1800 MHZ HT. But as u can see from the screenshot below, Coretemp is telling me that is a Caspian proc and CPU-z is telling me that this proc has 1600 MHZ HT which translates as M320 and not P320.

So which is which? Has Acer deliberately misinformed the buyers of this model? Am I being cheated?

Cost of flashing bios

My friend is using an old compaq laptop (n series). The laptop cannot boot past POST and there is a constant beep. He cannot even go into BIOS. So my question is:

1) Does the problem lies with the BIOS or the mobo as a whole?
2) If the BIOS is faulty, how much is the estimation cost to reflash or fix it?

My friend requested me to have a look at his netbook (model as per topic title). So the problem goes like this:

1. The windows wont boot in normal AND safe mode. In normal mode, it stuck at the moving bar while in safe mode, it will stop at certain system file which i am not certain which one because it will immediatly goes BSOD with a STOP 07 error if I am not mistaken.

2. I have decided to make a clean install of Windows but before that, I boot UBCD4Win from USB to transfer my friend's personal file to another thumbdrive. All was going well until the transfer of files seem to hang and the PE Windows stop responding! Even the pointer wont move.

At this point, I noticed that the HDD light remained on but not in blinking fashion. (Just steady glow)

3. I powered off and boot UBCD again and ran HDTune. The result was fine; no errors. Then I ran CHCKDSK; it found some errors but the moment it starts fixing them, the PE Windows stop responding again.

4. Again, I powered off the netbook and boot UBCD but this time not loading Windows. Instead I ran a Memtest and it turns out fine. So it looks like the RAM is ok.

5. I boot XP Home installation from USB. This time, both Recovery console and Setup cannot continue; it got stuck at "Examining the disk on 0...."

The spec of this netbook are as follows:
-Intel Atom
-8GB SSD
-512/1GB ram (I am not sure about this)

Can somene please shed a light on this? I suspect the SSD is the culprit although its hard to believe its corrupted.

p/s: Through PE Windows, I found that there are lots of virus on the root of C. Are these related to the problem? Affecting MBR perhaps?

When Padang was hit by the earthquake, a tsunami alert warning was issued for the area of Penang and Port Dickson. I used to think that there is no way that PD can be hit by a tsunami. I mean, unless the epicentre is on the west side of Sumatra for example, how can the waves travel through the Melaka straits? (This is based on my poor geography hehe)

With the recent developments and alerts, does it mean it is now a possibility?Should people living in PD area be of any concern?

4gb flash drive not detected

My situation is a laptop that cannot detect a 4gb flash drive but can detect a 1 or 2 gb flash drive. The thing is that 4gb flash drive can be detected at other laptops so that can rule out the 4gb stick as having any problems. The problem lies with laptop I think. Its a acer aspire 4310, 512mb ram, windows xp.

What could be the problem assuming the usb port and controller is ok? (I m in d process of testing out all 4 usb ports on the laptop with other flash drives, usb mouse and external hdd) javascript:emoticon(':stars:')

EFS locked files

I have encrypted a whole folder of pictures using Window's EFS under Account A. Because of certain reason, I deleted User Account A and forgot to decrypt my pictures first. And now I cannot open my pictures/decrypt them because I am using a different User account. I have read in XP Help and Support that I can use DRA to recover my files. The question is how? I am using Windows XP Pro. I need to recover my valuable pictures.

Say I got a laptop, an Acer Spire 4520 with a Nvidia 7000m graphics. I already hook it up to a LCD monitor and set it as a dual view configuration in the nview settings, extending my desktop size.

So how do I do to make my games show at the LCD monitor and NOT at the laptop display?
