i3 2100 vs i5 2400

Hi sifus out there. I would want to build a rig with either i3 2100 or i5 2400.

May I know is there significant difference between those 2 processor in terms of gaming performance? I have heard from dealers that most of the games currently do not use up all the cores that is available in the i5 processors. Is that true?
