Weird engine problem

I currently drive a Myvi 1.3 Manual which clocked about 80,000km. Lately I am experiencing a very strange problem.

The scenario is as below and to rule out aircon problems, all these symptoms are experienced when the aircon is off.
- During idle, my car would be having erratic rpms which would fluctuate up and down (from approximately 500 to 1200, normally about 800)
- When driving, the car seems to choke every now and then and it happens in fixed intervals
- When accelerating or flooring the pedal, the car would seem to have no response, choke, then it starts to accelerate again.

This happened a couple of days ago and it gets worse from day to day.

Dell Inspiron 630m, unable to post

I currently have a Dell Inspiron 630m laptop which is nearing 4 years old (Since mid 2006).

The General Specs are as below.

Intel Pentium M Processor 1.73Ghz
Memory 2Gb Shared DDR2 SDRAM(2 x 1Gb Dimms)
Intel 915GM Chipset
Hard Drive 250GB 5400RPM IDE Hard Drive
Wireless Intel PRO 2200

Whenever I switch on the laptop, the laptop's scroll lock, caps lock and num lock light would light up for about 2 to 3 seconds and then the laptop would just shut down by itself. I have tried using the adapter without battery, battery without the adapter and battery with the adapter and none seem to work.

However, at one occasion, it successfully posted but hung while loading windows. At this moment, the LCD screen started to display green colour from the bottom up and soon the entire screen became brighter and brighter until it became all white. After that, the laptop could not start up anymore. Also, when it posted, it took much longer to load the BIOS and to enter setup screen.

I have asked around and some said it is due to overheating but I have checked and found that the heatsink is pretty clean (cleaned it a month or two ago) and when I on the laptop, the heatsink heats up (meaning there is heat transfer to the heatsink). Some also said that the BIOS battery is dead but at that particular instance when I got the laptop to post, I checked the BIOS and found that the date and time is still correct so I guess the battery is still alright.

Do advise. I am all open to any ideas and possible solutions. Many thanks.
