KUALA LUMPUR — The RM2.6 billion (S$928 million) deposited into Prime Minister Najib Razak’s accounts were donations from UMNO supporters, UMNO Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said today (Aug 4).

“I was made to understand the contribution came from supporters and donors,” Mr Khairy was quoted as saying by news portal Malaysiakini today.

The youth and sports minister then cited a statement from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to support his remark.

The MACC yesterday revealed that its investigations found that the RM2.6 billion was not from 1Malaysia Development Berhad as previously claimed, but were donations.

DiCaprio took a private jet twice in May to pick up an environmental award in New York - before flying back to a glitzy gala in France.

The actor and environmentalist, 41, was spotted this week in Cannes during the Film Festival.

But he left the French Riviera for a brief trip to New York City, where he collected an honor at the Riverkeeper Fishermen's Ball on Wednesday, Page Six reported.

He then hopped back on another private jet to attend the amfAR gala in Antibes, about eight miles from Cannes, just 24 hours later.

The actor, who turned his Oscars speech into a pressing warning against climate change in February, accumulated more than 8,000 of air travel in just a couple of days.

DiCaprio was slammed last year by RadarOnline, which reported he had taken six private jets in just six weeks in 2014.

Emails leaked from Sony at the time stated DiCaprio had accumulated more than $200,000 worth of private jet travel between April and May, taking two round trips from Los Angeles to New York, then one from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.

The multi-agency taskforce today listed down the document as among those it removed during the day-long raid yesterday.

“The Attorney General, Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, informed that the Special Task Force team obtained the materials required for its investigation including the minutes of meetings of the 1MDB Board of Directors, the Minute Book, bank statements and other bank details, reconciliation statements, ledger books, agreements of business and investment dealings, and files on 1MDB’s corporate social responsibility activities.

“The team also seized several notebook computers,” it said in a statement today.

Investigators yesterday descended on the office of the indebted firm at Menara IMC on Jalan Sultan Ismail and spent nine hours on the premises before carting away sealed boxes containing documents and laptops.

The raid was conducted by the special taskforce comprising the Attorney-General’s Chambers, Bank Negara Malaysia, the Royal Malaysian Police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

The same taskforce this week ordered six bank accounts frozen and seized 17 financial documents as part of its investigations into 1MDB.

It said today, however, that none of the six accounts belonged to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak who is at the heart of a corruption controversy after the Wall Street Journal last week published a report alleging he received US$700 million (RM2.7 billion) in 1MDB funds.

Najib has denied using funds from 1MDB for “personal gain” and his lawyers have since asked the WSJ to state if the newspaper is accusing the prime minister of misappropriation.

Aside from the special taskforce, 1MDB is also under investigation by the Auditor-General’s Department and Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee.

Earlier today, the PAC said that 1MDB did not co-operate fully with the ongoing federal audit on the firm that is RM42 billion in debt, and failed to provide all the documents requested by the Auditor-General’s Department.
