To increase IP number

To all networking sifu - need help.

I tried to help my friend setting up wireless system at his school (school net network). Somebody told me that you can only wired up to 60 IP with school net. Initially, i thought wired connection (limitation with the switch), wireless should not be a problem to assign ip from 1 to 254...

Theoretically, if you have wireless AP, you can set you AP DHCP from 100 to 200 right? Strangely, when i set it like that (DHCP from 100 to 200), laptop connected to that AP with IP assign 100, cannot access the internet. If you set you AP DHCP from 30 to 60, then can access internet. Seems that school net IP starting from 10.*.*.* - really fix your ip up to 60 (wired or wirelessly)

How to get around with this?

a. Does bridging help? let say, school net network is A, and i want to bridge it with network B (different subnet, submask, dns, etc from network A) - would B network has the possibility to access network A and have internet access?

b. somebody told me to step down the ip --> 10.x.(x-1).x --> possible to increase ip number? any true in this?

anybody can help? i just want to increase internet usage from 60 to 200 at least... possible? any new gadget that i need to buy?

Temporary solution-my streamyx keep disconnecting

Dear all Sifus...

Seems that this problem is true to most of us here... after a while (1 to 2 hours), the streamyx activity will goes to zero... and no internet activity (http and bittorrent)... however, your dsl light is still on and you are still connected to streamyx (host)... but still no activity...

To solve, you then, disconnect connection, cable and redial again.. whoallah!!! your streamyx is healthy again...

Few forums already discussing this:

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=363205

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=365562

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=365562

Yes, we will keep complaining to streamyx but you will not know when this problem will be solved.. at least one or two weeks before streamyx technician comes to your house to have a look and fix your streamyx (cross finger)... in the mean time.. within your precious 2 weeks time... you will curse and curse.. and curse.. and curse.. and curse.. and curse... streamyx everytime you have been disconnected or no streamyx activity...

Therefore, i would like to seek help from anybody here to teach me on how to:

1. Set your computer so that once it detect slow activity (or after every 2 hours), your streamyx line will disconnected and reconnect again - automatically
2. Same as no 1, you modem reset and reconnect again as sometimes just disconnect your dialler, wont solve this problem but once you disconnect the phone cable and put back on with new dsl light, the problem gone... but after 2 hour it slows again...

I need no 1 particularly, as normally, i will leave my computer on for hours.. so if i cannot connect continuously, it still can disconnect and reconnect automatically and my torrent will runs again... Damn! back to 56k modem era again... as for item 2, would be great as it for sure will give back your streamyx at high speed...

The temporary solution:

Anybody can write a script or teach me how to do item 1 and 2 above in window xp? I can use this setting temporary while i make loud noise with streamxy... damn!!! other members also can use this temporary solutions and please... please to all.. keep making noise ok... dont just complaining in lowyatt forum but do nothing..

help anybody?
