Internet Connection Sharing

Hello all, I've recently bought a new laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium but unfortunately I do not have any existing wireless internet access or extra router ports for it. My PC (running winxp) has an on-board network port and also an extra network card. I am currently connected the the router using the network card, and now my question is how do i share my internet connection from my PC to the laptop using the on-board network port? I've tried bridging and it works, but it is not very stable as I keep losing the internet connection. I've tried messing with the Internet Connection Sharing feature but somehow I couldn't get it to work. Are there any other ways? Thanks in advance.
