[SOLVED] Windows7 LAN internet access

Hi all,

I don't know if others face this problem, but i find it quite annoying. It happens when i changed to my new PC running windows7. In XP i could just turn on my computer and my LAN internet connection will be ready to use but i find that in windows7 sometimes when i start up my computer with my modem and router all turned on and connected, i get limited access like the screen below.

Then what i have to do is go to adapter settings, disable and enable back the connection to get it connected or click on the X symbol and wait for it to sort it out by itself which takes a little bit of time.

I would like to know is there anyway to get it set like XP where it easily just connects by itself and internet is ready to use straight away?

Thanks in advance.

(If this topic has been discussed, please direct me to the appropriate thread)

PC freezes with lines

Hi all,

I recently have this problem with my pc. When i am doing normal work such as surfing the internet and using Words... no heavy graphics software, the screen will suddenly change to these black and grey vertical lines.

Something like this

:Image taken from forums.hardwarezone.com.sg:

after this happens i can press "ctrl alt delete" and it will return to the desktop area accept icons will be in front of windows and seems like things are in wrong places... I can still click start and shutdown or restart the computer.

What seems to be the problem? graphic card overheating? other than the screen suddenly changing like the picture above.... there are no other graphic problems. (Checked all fans are running and i do clean out dust once a month) Thanks.

Specs:
MSI Nvidia geforce 5200fx
Pentium 4, 3.0mhz
512mb ram

Hey all... i reset the gfx card cleaned of the dusts and it ran fine for awhile..... but now the computer keeps hanging.... no BSOD no restart.... whats going on now? It just stays at the screen it jams....

WRT54gs "Hangs" when laptop connects wirelessly

Personal equipment
Modem: Aztech DSL605EU
Router: Linksys WRT54gs

Hey all,

I am having this problem where whenever my laptop connects wirelessly through my WRT54gs Linksys router, the router hangs.

Before this it was all fine and no problems connecting wireless through my laptop. It started few days back.

What i notice on the router after my laptops connects is the "Wireless" light on the router keep blinking really fast (even not doing anything online). Then all my computers connected through LAN cables also lost their connection when this happens.

After disconnecting the wireless on my laptop, i wait a few seconds and my computers with LAN cable connections gets back its internet connections.

What seems to be the problem here? Please advise

Router freezes/House light dimmed

Hey all,
Well the situation is this, I turned on the computer and everything is running fine, then moments later my house light dimmed for 2 seconds and back to normal. At that exact moment i lost my LAN connection on my computer taskbar.

Not sure what had happened i went out to my router and i saw all the lights on my router was lit as it if it jammed or something. My modem seemed fine, so i turn my router on and off and its back to normal.

Firstly, what i want to ask now, is my router beginning to have problems or was it just a normal electric fluctuation that could have cause the router to freeze up? (Anyone experience this before?)

The second thing is, the router is a linksys wrt54gs, 2 years old, and have 3 year limited warranty. Will i be able to get a 1on1 exchange or any sort of replacement "IF" something was wrong? Or is this model stopped production already.

Really need comments on this. Thanks all.

Linksys WRT54GS p2p Problem

Personal equipment
Modem: Aztech DSL605eu
Router: LINKSYS WRT54GS
Problem ONLY occurs if using p2p software

Hi all, my linksys wrt54gs seems to lose connection when p2p software is used. The connection will go down for around few seconds to 1minutes.

I was wondering is there anyway to overcome this problem? Firmware has been updated to latest 1.52.2 version as well.

Ive read in certain websites where ppl said they overcome this problem by flashing to DD-WRT firmware but my router warranty might be void if i do this.

Anyone here encountering this problem which have any other possible solutions?

Thanks all.

THREAD CLOSED: Found previous thread with same problem. Sorry.

Pioneer DEH P5500mp HU Reading disc Problem

Hi all,

I have this problem where out of no where my DEH P5500MP headunit is unable to read CDRWs giving an error-11 message on the display. It was playing them fine before. Now it can only read CD-Rs

Steps taken to check:
- ensured discs were "closed"
- tried different CDRWs
- cleaned headunit contacts.
- reset player by disconnecting it overnight.

The only thing i could really remember is that i am now using newer version of nero to burn CDRWs than before and i cant get the older version back to test. I have also tried other burning softwares with no success.

So any pioneer users experienced this problem? or any way to overcome this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Computer 'sometimes' does not boot up.

Hi all,

Ok the situation is this, it is not an unacceptable or that problematic a problem for me but my computer SOMETIMES does not start up on the first push of the power button.

Everything lights up fans running but no boot up 'beep'. When this happens, all i have to do is press the reset button once or twice and it will boot.

Proc: Pentium4
mem: 512mb ddr400
Mobo: MSI 865PE neo2
Gfx: MSI nvidia FX5200 128mb
PSU: had gone through 3 PSU over the years 2 normals and 1 450w Icute (no change in the boot problem after changing)
Soundcard: creative audigy
no. of fans in casing: 1 processor fan and one normal fan.

I have had the computer for almost 4 years now and its been doing it ever since i got it and never thought anything much of the problem because when it occurred after newly buying it i sent it back and the shop said maybe because it was a cold boot or something.

So just opening this topic up for suggestions if maybe it could be overcome so that it boots at first push of the button every time.

Thanks all.

[WTA] Connectiong Astro to 2 tvs with 2 decoders?

Hi,

Just curious here, i have 2 astro decoders, 1 astro card and 1 dish. I need to know is there anyway to make 2 tvs watch astro and with different channels as well?

i have it hooked up already to one dish because last time i took the 2nd decoder offer with 50% off and had 2 cards. But now i no longer have 2 cards so therefore wonder if there is a setting which can be done to transmit through both decoders?

I have searched through threads and found out about wireless transmitters as well but i hope there is a cheaper way to do it since i have 2 decoders.

p/s sorry if this is a repost topic and please direct me to a link if the was a previously posted topic

Regards

What is viewerLeaks.xls?

As the topic stated, there is a .XLS (Microsoft Excel File) called viewerLeaks.xls that is always sitting on my C: even after deleting. I was just wondering is this a microsoft office file or some malicious file that i not knowingly put in the computer.

I have not attempted to open the file cause im a little paranoid that it might cause further damage if it is something bad.

Virus and spyware scans did not pick up anything as well.

Any idea what this file is? thanks in advance.
