British High Court Endorsement Fee

Hi all,

My relative recently just won an overseas contract from Nigeria by submitting bid online. He has received PO from the company in Nigeria. However, when they fax over the contract to ask him to sign, they requested him to pay for endorsement fee for the contract. For some reason, that company are using a law firm in Britain instead of Nigeria. The amount is about RM1000+ for the endorsement fee.

Since my relative don't have experience in international business, he would like to know the legitimacy of this. We have checked out the company website and the law firm website. Seems legit on the web. I have suggest he called the law firm and get clarification. However, whether the company actually exists is another story. My dad said most likely is a scam. My relative already ask the company to deduct the endorsement amount from the final payment, however, they refused to do so and sending back email questioning whether his company can pay or not.

What do you all think? is this a scam?

Fail to connect to VPN (no response)

Hi all,

I have just switched to streamyx recently and I'm having problem connecting to company network via VPN. It always stucked at "Verifying Username and Password", then after awhile, it would timeout and pop up an error message that says "No response from network blahblahlbha"

The connection was working properly when I was using another ISP. It does not need any special settings on the router. The only difference in settings for the router is, before streamyx, my router did not dial a connection. Now, it dials a connection.

I have tried a few scenarios:
1. Connect directly through modem. This got me connected once, then the same "No response ..." dialog came up for the second time (i waited for 10 minutes before reconnect).
2. Connect through router, set the router to DHCP client and modem to DHCP server. Then dial the connection through the modem. This does not work.
3. Connect through router, set the router to DHCP client, modem bridge mode, dial connection via router. This would not work neither.

My hardware setup:

internet -> modem(bridge mode) -> Router -> laptop

Modem: Aztech DSL600E
Router : Netgear WGT624v3

Anyone has experience this before? Any ideas why this is the case? Any help is greatly appreaciated.
