how often service aircon

wondering how often do you all service your air-con?

My aircon starts leaking water less than a year after those chemical cleaning and they always say due to pipe clog. I only on aircon at night for sleep.
i have not encountered this problem with my other aircon i used previously. Wondering if it's due to old aircon problem?
I'm looking to buy my first property and seeking your expert advice. Would it be better to buy an old well maintained condo (say 20+ old, good management) or a completely new condo?

thks
