What's about wireless hardware n connectivity?

hello everyone

i wnt 2 ask 1 question that is which wireless hardware (laptops) hv better connectivity performance or catchability as i termed it since i hv some experience with different hardwares:

for example, i found that my friends EEE PC 7" cn easily n very fast surf the net unlike my asus F8 which usually get disconnected after 1-3 minutes-when both laptops r actually being side by side with one another

but if went near to the network (cafe) the performance are the same

do share what u know about the causes of such difference, esp about the tips n tricks on how to improve the connectivity
(pls exclude windows tweak.....i'm interested in the physics of the hardware n not the software)

btw, it's not a call for help, this is not a problem for me , but i'd like to learn the reason behind such disparity; this should be a knowledge-based thread, not a troubleshooting thread

CHKDSK runs all the time...

AMD Athlon 4800+
2GB Kingston RAM
250GB HDD
GeForce 8500GT ..........i dont think it's a hardware problem though....probably OS

problem is.....everytime it ON, as it BOOTs and enters XP loading window,it will run CHKDSK for 1partition of my HD

my HD hv 3partition
n the CHKDSK only involves 1..the 2nd partition-save my songs n documents in it......not C:

so why this problem keep bugging me evrytime i start my PC?????

luckily i cn always cancel the disk checking by pressing any key....

bt still...i'd love for u guys to lend me a hand in correcting it

p/s:dont suggest formatting it.....already tried twice n no solution wit it
