New notebook unable to detect 8GB RAM

hello,

thread title is a bit misleading, but i just couldn't put into words what kind of problem that i am facing

i just bought a notebook, and decided to upgrade from its original configuration which is 4GB to 16GB, by means of installing 2 stick of 8GB. Here is the specification:

QUOTE

laptop model: Lenovo S410P 5940-3564
RAM : CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8G) - CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10

there are 2 DIMM slots, let just say slot 1 and slot 2. initially, original RAM was put in slot 1. i removed it and install 2 pieces of 8GB RAM into different slots. however, notebook unable to boot up and produce beep sound (i search on Internet, and it should be what it is called 1-3-3-1 beep)

then I tried to left only 1 stick of 8GB, but it was unable to boot as well. only after i put the original 4GB back, then it is able to boot; with or without new 8GB RAM.

later, i realized that if i combine 4GB+8GB, during BIOS boot up process from BIOS, BIOS only show 4GB. but, soon after i logged in to Windows and using CPU-Z, the software able to see 12 GB (4GB + 8GB)

to cut story short, I swap the slot position and different RAM but no matter how put it, original RAM is the must have.

it looks like that 8GB is recognized by the system, but system die die want original 4GB during the boot process.

any advise?

-----
what i also did:
1. i tried to find BIOS update, but there is no bios update for S410P at the moment (http://support.lenovo.com/en_NL/downloads/detail.page?&DocID=DS037026)
2. i removed CMOS battery, but problem still persists
3. in BIOS setup, if i use 4GB RAM; under information menu (only), i am unable to change the value.
