Help.. Proton got gas smell

Hi Everybody,

Recently, after service my air cond, I figure that my Wira 1.3 1996:-
1. Smell some strong petrol or smoke when air cond turn on.
2. Every morning, the engine like wanna to die, i'm afraid the carburetor like dying soon. But after warm up, it will get better. But raining time, it will more worst. The RPM (replace with 1.5 meter) drop around 300 rpm.
3. Does this related to carburetor or something wrong with my air cond system?

I'm afraid if long term like this, I might get poison with carbon monoxide.
I would like to hear some comments and similar issue from your guys.

Any fix and remedy will welcome. Thanks.

Pioneer HT Dilema in music and movie

Hi All HT Sifu,
Recently, I have made a survey over home theater. My choices are like the following:-
1.	Pioneer HTZ-787DVD - One of HT in the box which has optical. http://www.pioneer.my/product_details.php?id=100

2.	Pioneer AVR HTP-RS70 http://www.pioneer.my/product_details.php?id=349

3.	Pioneer HTZ-LX61 - In a box with 6 speakers. http://www.pioneer.my/product_details.php?id=108

I have a setup in my living room. I have PS2 to use optical and HDD player to use HDMI. Thus, Pioneer 787 fulfill the requirement. But too bad, the HDMI input is not common for HT in the box. Well here is my individual listening verdict:-

1.	Music hearing, Pioneer 787 perform well due to the subwoofer kick in pretty well. AVR woofer hardly audible due to front speaker with mid woofer covers the sound.
2.	Movie definitely, AVR win the whole due to the sounds come out piece by piece. HT in the box also can perform but not as clear as AVR especially over the noise.
3.	Other HT in the box does not fulfill my taste or perform terrible. Some cannot hold the loud sounds and straight away went to high terrible frequency. Some are split with broken piece of sounds. Some treble not clear under low volume. But Pioneer 787 can hold the sounds even push the volume to the max.
4.	AVR has many inputs and outputs especially HDMI and optical. This is my wish list. But too bad, music playing not so much enjoyable. They have the bass but not the kinds I prefer when listening music.

So, to all audiophile folks, do your guys have any to recommend for other HTs. Be it HT in the box or HT AVR. My budget is RM 2.5K to 3K. Your know lah, uncle need to reserve money for children and household. I understand the others brand like Kenwood, Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo and high range are pretty good too. Please recommend your best with this price range. HT is an expensive hobby but just want to indulge little into healthy relaxing. Thanks.
Please help for my MID Bass problem

Recently, I have install a mid bass 6.5 inch speaker in my front door for my 1.3 old Wira. Sometimes ago, one of the door panel affected by little watermark during heavy rain. The ICE installer suggest me to add an additional front layer with 'Men Pi' or door skin (sorry for my bad). But after adding the so called door skin, the mid bass sound like hitting the metal very obvious. The other door which doesn't affect by watermark seems to be fine. Hitting the metal is fine since i'm not doing any dampening. But how come one door is hitting so obvious while another is not in certain volume. I figure this out by turning the CD player balance to hear the knocking sound.
Then, he suggest me to do sounds dampening by putting a black sticking thingy inside the door panel.

Any suggestion from ICE sifu? Do I need to put sounds dampening or change the door panel like Wira 1.5 or half cut mitsu one?

FYI, i'm comparing this with my VIOS speaker. Small magnet with clear sounds. Add one more active subwoofer will do since I like music with some bass. Well of coz, cannot compare those quality speaker in aftermarket. They sounds much better than those in stock car. But enough for uncle like me.

Mind to suggest a good alarm system or anything

Any sifu and forumer here can suggest a good alarm system. Be it 2 way alarm or physical locks. As long as can hinder those thieves from break in or steal the car easily.
It would be nice if those alarm system does not void the manufacturer warranty. Or does SA provide such installation as well?
The stock alarm seems to be not so advance for those cars. Poor people like me cannot afford again to buy those cars if lost.

I believe many of us would like to know tips and tricks when come to security. Anybody?
My old proton wira common problem...

Recently, my 14 years old 1.3 Wira is giving me some headache. Now in the doubt whether to drop in half cut or continue to fix it.

Here are the lists which I encounter:-
1. White blueish smoke derived from exhaust. Sometimes visible and sometimes hardly seen. My mech suggest me to change the NOK valve seal will solve the things.
2. Temperature will raise if i drive under hot sun with passenger. But driving during morning or after work, it seems to be normal. I'm not sure whether this is due to water pump, gasket or radiator issue(change before with 2 level of water tank).
3. Occassionally cannot start the engine when hot. Cold start sure no problem. Change the starter with half cut before but still the same.
4. Can feel the shaky from engine bay when cold start. But when I rev it or after run in, it feel better. Not sure whether this have to do with my distributor timing or carburetor tuning. RPM maintain 1000 cycle when hot but when air cond on, RPM slightly higher.

These are the major issues which bother me much. But someone in my family suggest me to change into Mitsu 4G91 rather than spending times to fix it. And my mech suggest me not to change it due to some spare part cannot find easily beside half cut shop.
The engine fuel consumption still give me a nice mileage of 410KM where 70% highway & 30% city. Currently running castrol GTX Extra due to oil leaking into engine.

Please advice and share your experience. Thanks.

Uncle is looking forward to buy a new car coming this year end. AFTA amendment still unknown. The only choice which shortlisted are like following:-
1. Toyota Vios (G specs)
2. Honda City (S specs)
3. Peroduo MyVi SE
4. Nissan Grand Livina (1.6 Auto)
5. Nissan Sentra 1.6 Auto

If your guys looks from a small family perspective, which cars do your guys choose? Straight away buy MPV even this small size of family or wait for hybrid technology to be embedded in future. Or just buy a small car first and wait for next five years to go for MPV (second car).

Budget will be MYR 85K - 90K.

Thanks.

Uncle wanna value for money speaker setup

Uncle just bought a Pioneer HU: DEH5050. Now, planning to upgrade my stock speaker system to component. Personally, prefer SQ more than SPL. Life is already stressful and pretty hard. Why make our ears suffer? Lighten up our mind and soul.

Here is my upgrade plan:
Front Speaker: 6.5” Pioneer Component or Soundstream (or Any to recommend)

SubWoofer: Active subwoofer beneath the passenger seat. (No box since boot is fully utilized for children stuff or luggage.)

Rear Speaker: 6” Other component brand and not yet decided. Maybe Epsilon is enough already.

Amplifier: For times being, will skip this to see the sounds satisfy my need or not. (Got money apa pun boleh beli)

Any PRO kaki out there to give advice and comment. What I need is some brand model which value for money and not cheap stuff which end up throw money to sea.

Songs used to justify setup: Madonna (Bye Bye), Enya – And Winter Came, She Moves - Breaking All the Rules, Martika – Toy Soldier.

Budget: RM 1000.

Currently, I'm thinking to revive my old ride due to the economy turmoil. If i spend too much of money towards ICE then i need a good security alarm. Since i'm noob here, some of your guys who are expert can share some ICE setup for a family guy since subwoofer is not recommended. But component set is acceptable. Budget will be RM 900 - 1000 including HU. I believe many of us curious on how minimum we can spend to setup good ICE. Of coz, not hardcore one. But at least can rock with R&B music. Anyone can lead the way? You can state the model number if you like.
