I don’t know, who come out with this rule... Visitor cannot enter if the guard unable to contact owner. I was angry with the guard just now, coz i saw 6 missed calls on my hphone. At that time I was in my living room and my hphone was inside the bedroom. Why now, without the guard calling the owner the visitor cannot enter?

For me this... is not a brilliant idea. I’m really pissed off, not with the guard but with the one who come out with this rule. Won’t you be angry if you are a visitor came from a long way to your relative/friends condo and suddenly you cannot enter because the guard unable to call the owner!!??

If you are saying by registering visitor’s IC or driving license info, there are possibilities they might not be the true visitor and might not go to the registered house, and afraid they might be loitering at our compound, then install intercom at each house this would be the best solution – if we could not provide the solution then don’t apply unnecessary rules.
As at now we still don’t have the best solution for this. Until we have, I believe it is enough with the registration of the visitor at the guard house.

We are constantly trying to improve the security in the condo for everyone's benefit. In the case you mentioned, after checking with the guards, it appeared that:

1. Your visitor either did not have or did not want to give any ID f...or registration. So the guards had to call you to verify if he is a bona fide visitor. As you said, they couldn't reach you after 6 calls. They thought the visitor could be a "fake" visitor because how can the owner not pick up the call if he was expecting visitors?

FYI, that was how the shoe thief came into our condo, by simply stating a random unit and no one checked. Also the various salesmen, leaflet distributors etc.

2. I read now from your post that you were in the living room and the phone was in the bedroom. Nader had told me you were in the bathroom. Maybe I'm mistaken. Whatever room you were in, someone had to pick up the call, whether it was from a phone or the intercom. Since the intercom system hadn't been installed from the construction stage, it's impossible to do it now. We had discussed this issue back when your wife was in the committee.

3. I have to confess i was the one who told the guards to go ahead with this "call to verify with the owners first before letting in the visitors" ruling. As I said, we are trying to improve security in the condo, in whichever way we can.

Finally, you are welcomed to write to the management about your preference when it comes to visitors. You could just send an email exempting all your visitors from phone verifications. Once you do that the guards won't have to call you anymore. Your visitors will be let in after they show their ID. And the management will save on the phone charges.

1. I confirmed with my guest he was asked with the IC and he NEVER refuse to give it, the guard registered with the IC and about to give permission to enter then came 1 guy as describe as an Indian, wearing non guard uniform, having a gold...en necklace, wearing glasses. Then they asked who is the owner name, he mention my name but unfortunately my name was not in the guard list - I believe they have my wife’s name. Then the guard called. So this is the version of the stories, why the guard telling another version? Guest refuse to give ID card for registration, where is the logic in that?

2. Whether or not I’m expecting any guest, it’s not the problem for not letting my guest to enter when the guard unable to contact me. When applying the rule, the management have to put into consideration the problem that may occur with this rule. There are possibilities the owner may not answer the phone, the mobile phone is out of battery, and whatever reason it may be, the management have to think on how to deal with this situation.

3. If last time the shoes thief entered by giving random unit number, maybe this time the thief went in with car, by giving driving licence he can enter without any question. Coz the next day the same guest of mine went in with a car, and he can get in without much hassle - Different rules apply to a different type of guest? Make a few tests, and it is different.

4. Solution - MAYBE we can come out with some kind of flow chart for the guards. [Guest come in -> Registration -> Confirmation with owner by calling -> if unreachable -> guard escort guest to the unit]. Or else, MAYBE the guest needs to bring with them a form for the owner to endorse - maybe can provide each house to have own rubber stamp with unit info (cost: RM15 – RM30/unit).

5. As the management wants to improve services, by asking me to write to management allowing all my guests to enter without further consent – I could do that, but this is not improving. Since I have brought up this issue, the management have to think of something to improve.

Condo Fire Insurance (FI)

Hi,

I have this situation.. my condo building management is asking to pay for the fire insurance yearly where they have include under my building maintenance bill..

if my bank loan already covered with fire insurance.. but the building management insist me to pay for the fire insurance which they engaged with and i should pay it yearly to them..

At this point, can i make a choice either to choose any 1 of the insurance and at this case if i would only want to stick with the bank loan fire insurance..?
- meaning i dont want to pay to the building management for their fire insurance..

~ any act i could refer to?

Kancil Overhaul/carburetor service

Hi Guys..

I’m having a Kancil 660, it’s quite old. Last time it was having a problem with hard to start the engine when morning time.. and sometimes the engine dead while driving but easy to start back again. After sometime the engine dead and found out that the battery is "kong", change the battery and everything is ok... that was 3 month back..

Lately(this few days) it having some problem with the engine... its like the engine is "semput" or "batuk" and easily dead.
I ask 1 of my friends he said maybe the carburetor is needed to be service.. and 1 of my friend told to overhaul the engine.

Car is not my area and I have little knowledge about it. I don’t want to send it straight away to workshop coz I know I will be easily "kena ketuk" with the pomen.. so I need you guys to advice me on the overhaul matter and also carburetor service (if it would solve my problem).

I think, the thing I need to know:
What is the cost for overhaul my kancil?
How long does it take?
Is there any hidden cost?
Should I overhaul my kancil?
What is the effect for overhaul, will solve my problems?
I live in gombak(Wangsamaju/Setapak/DanauKota), have any recommended workshop nearby?

Backup software

Looking for software that can backup my system (OS) setting/configuration, can also perform full & incremental backup.

Last time using HP Backup and Recovery Manager + System Restore (Windows).
But the HP Backup is not so convenience and the System Restore got problem cannot perform restore.
Now plan to reformat my PC and to install new Backup software.

Car Cushion Wash

Now my car is soo smelly and i need it to sent for wash (cushion).
Any recommended place that i could sent it for wash... i was thinking of going to CARS (somewhere at Jusco here) but i dont know if they do wash cushion or not.

Hi Guys,

I noticed that recently(past 3 weeks) streamyx have blocked the site. - past years I can access without no problem.

I have tried using ISP other that streamyx such as Maxis broadband and my office line (which is coming out from Singapore line), also no problem.
I have tried to ask a few of my friends which is from India, Costa Rica, and US they also having no problem.
Before I sent a complain(email) to streamyx, I have ask few friends using streamyx from different location in KL to access the site but still failed.

Today I received the reply email from them, seems claiming that nothing is wrong with streamyx.

Need help if you guys could access the site..

Hi,
I just bought this game.. it's an original game.
The thing is, my pc don't have a CD-ROM, I installed it through network ~ from my laptop CD-ROM.

After successful installed, when I tried to play it required for me to have a CD-ROM attach to my PC. Then maybe I think. It need to have all the content of the CD's to my local drive, then I copied the 2 CD's to my local drive. ~ not to Program File, my D drive under CD1 & CD2.
When I tried to play it again want me to have CD-ROM... ~ also tried to click the EXE file under CD1.

Please help me, someway maybe for me to play without me require to install a CD-ROM drive.

D-Link DSL-504T cant connetc to internet

Just bought the ADSL Modem Router DSL-504T yersterday from Lawyat Plaza.
Im able to use it from midnight last night till this morning.
Leave it for over night running uTorrnet. - sucessful download stuff.
- i have set the port forwarding to my router also.

But this morning im unable to browse internet while the uTorrnet is running. Have to close down the program then able to browse like normal.

After doing some research(mostly in here), most of ppl upgrade their firmware to resolved this problem.

As for me, after upgrade to V2.00B07.AU.20060808 , im unable to connect to internet at all.
- i have re-do the process of upgradung the firmware
- checked the username & pasword is correct
- unable the firewall setting in the router
- try to make my pc to static ip and also dinamic ip
- use "Recover Router" mothod - REFRESH.bat & START.bat

I need help.. im unable to use my streamyx at home.. have to go somewhere else to post this thread..

Im having a problem to open any picture directly from yahoo mail.
Before(when using IE 6) i just click open and it will open that picture using Microsoft Office Picture Manager.

I dont know either this is because of IE 7 or because of Microsoft Office Picture Manager..
