When's the last day of notice?

Hi All...
Firstly I would like to thank all for replying.

My question is:

If I need to serve 2 months' notice period when I tender my resignation, when will be my last date of service?

- Date of resignation letter: 6th March 2009
- Date submit to Supervisor: 6th March 2009

- Last day of notice: 5th May 2009 or 6th May 2009?

- Provided there's no annual leave to off set the notice period.

I am asking as I've confirmed a job offer but the offer letter is not ready yet from the HR dept.

Should I submit my resignation letter even before I sign the offer letter from the new job? (Am scared they pull out suddenly )
