Ixus 850IS or Lumix FX30?

Hello ppl,

Am in the midst of getting a compact point and shoot cam, with some specs like below:

price range around RM1500
good for both indoor and outdoor
a few manual controls, e.g shutter speed, etc (for learning before getting a dslr)
good battery life (will skip those with AA batteries)

been reading thru threads on Ixus 850IS, and the response had been good, apart from some complaints here and there (soft corner in pics, no battery indicator, etc). Heard about the noise issues in lumix models as well. I wanted to get something which is of the latest , and can last me for a good 2-3 years.

What say you? Can recommend any other models worth looking into as well.
