Home Theatre Receiver not working

Hi all sifus,

I have a Pioneer home theatre in a box, HTZ808-BD.
Used for many years already.

However, the receiver cannot be turned on anymore, it keep saying "turning on..." but it never turn on.

I think the speakers (4 x tall speakers, 1 x subwoofer, 1 x center speaker) are still working fine, so it's a pity if i throw them away.

Is it possible to buy another receiver to replace the current broken receiver?
Will it be compatible with my current speakers?

If yes, which one will you guys recommend?

Need advice on Pioneer Home Theater

Hi,

I'm in lookout for home theater, come across this model with blueray HTZ313BD.

Main Features in consideration with HTZ313BD in mind:

- 2 HDMi input - can plugin astro decoder / laptop / media player / ps3 etc
- 5.1 surround sound system - can play movie with DTS surround sound
- decent sound when listening to songs with mp3 through USB drive
- output Astro Beyond audio to the Home Theater in TV watching - use HDMI
- can play movie from harddisk with format such as MKV

One staff in the eletrical shop advised me that HDMI input is not good, will have signal lost. He then recommend me LG LG HB906TA with only optical input.

I also come across Sony BDV-E380 which is recommended by everyone (now seems to be on sales RM999).
However, the sound might not be as good as Pioneer or LG above.

Anyway, my budget is around 1-1.5k.

What do you guys think of the 3 below.

1. Pioneer HTZ313BD - 1.5k
2. Sony BDV-E380 - 1k
3. LG HB906TA - 1.5k

4. ... or other recommendations?

50" Plasma - Full HD or HD Ready

Hi All,

Wish to buy a 50" plasma. Wondering between these models, and whether to get Full HD or not, since the price is like 1k difference...

LG 50PJ350 (HD Ready) - 2.9k
LG 50PK550 (Full HD) - 3.9k

Panasonic TH-P50X20K (HD Ready) - 2.8k
Panasonic TH-P50U20K (Full HD) - 3.8k

I'll be watching Astro Beyond, and probably will get a HD media player.

Watching distance is around 10 feet.

Any advice please?
