Dear forumers,

I plugged in my USB external hard disk drive this morning and discovered that I can only see one partition in it. It should have two partitions there actually.

I checked this in the Disk Management and I can't even see the missing partition there. What can I do?

Please help.. This is kinda urgent..

Thanks a lot in advance!
How to add all computers into the DNS table?

Hi forumers,

I realized that not all computers are listed in the DNS table.
Some are there and some others are not.

I have tried refreshing the DNS table, but the problem still remains - not all computers are listed there.
I have also tried manually adding a few computers to the DNS table - this works well.

How can I add all computers into the DNS table easily?

Please help me out here. I'd appreciate any assistance at all.

P/s: The IP addresses of all computers are assigned dynamically.

User Logon Name in Active Directory

Hi forumers,

I need some help from you guys..

In Active Directory Users and Computers, all of the users only have the pre-Windows 2000 user logon name. Since there was a Windows NT to Windows Server 2003 migration much earlier, the user logon name according to the Windows 2003 standard (as indicated by the red bubble in the screenshot here) remains empty.

[attachmentid=449431]

In order for a security software to work properly, it only picks up the AD user logon names from the Windows 2003 standard. I have tested this out: if I manually copy the pre-Windows 2000 user logon name and paste it onto the Windows 2003 standard logon name (as indicated by the red bubble), then the software works fine.

Is there a script available for me to run so that it does the copying & pasting job for all AD user accounts?

Please help. Thanks in advance!

I can't find any reviews on the Internet, so I'm asking you guys here to help me decide if it's worth the purchase or not..

Thanks!

Hey ladies,

Just wondering if any of you have any idea what's hair relaxing like, especially if you've had a first-hand experience from it.. How long does the straightened hair usually last? And is it ok to have this done on limp hair like mine (it's wavy / pointing out at the ends especially when it's now at my shoulder's length and I hate the look of it every morning!)?

Thanks!

I get an index interface - the ftp site only lists all the files and folders.

Using Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer version 7.0, how can I upload my files to this ftp site?

Thanks!
Domain Admin account - running services?

Hi experts,

I need some help here.

I'm trying to install a software in a Win Server 2003, but this installation failed.
Reason:
The software requires the credentials of a domain administrator account to function properly.
But, there are restrictions defined in the Active Directory Domain Security Policy that does not allow domain administrator accounts to run services (I also read somewhere in my Google searches that domain administrator accounts are usually used for domain administration only, and not for service management). This, in turn, causes the necessary software's service to not run at all, thus halting the installation process.

Now, I have tested some things out in my VMWare environment - after making the proper re-adjustments to the Domain Security Policy, I am still unable to complete the full software installation process with the same error message.

Experts, I need your help. What can I do next?

Thanks in advance, I appreciate any assistance at all!

Recovering the OS for IBM Desktop

Hi,

Recently, I've been faced with several difficulties on recovering Windows XP for different IBM desktop models.
Would really appreciate it if anyone of you experts here can provide some insights into what I should do next.

Case 1:
Basically, I need to reset the system to its basic factory default settings. The system has a healthy service partition. Some critical Windows system files have somehow been corrupted and I cannot even go into IBM's "Rescue and Recovery" (it has probably been removed). This means that I cannot recover the OS anymore from the system's "Rescue and Recovery". Currently, I also do not have the recovery discs - which means that I can't reset the system to its factory default settings using this method. Next, since this IBM desktop model is the last of its kind in my office, I also cannot do hard disk imaging (e.g. via GHOST) onto it from another fully operational IBM desktop of the same model. What can I do to have the OS set to its factory default settings, at the same time maintaining its IBM service partition?

Case 2:
I also need to reset the system to its basic factory default settings. The system has been infected by a very aggressive virus and trojan horses, and therefore its MBR has also been infected. Windows and Safe Mode is not accessible, but all the necessary data has been backed up via BartPE CD, woot!. Recovering the system's OS many times via IBM's "Rescue and Recovery" has also failed. (Similar to case 1, I also do not have the recovery discs or another IBM desktop of the same model.) What can I do to have the OS set to its factory default settings, at the same time maintaining its IBM service partition?

P/S: The reason why these two desktop models do not have another desktop of the same models is because they're both of very old IBM desktop models.

Question:
On an alternative solution for these two cases, can I reinstall Windows XP afresh (includes hard disk partition reformat) without having to interrupt the IBM service partition (see the following):
- Install Windows XP from the CD, on the main hard disk partition (C drive) only
- Install all the necessary IBM software / driver updates
- Activate Windows XP
Can I still have the IBM service partition to be fully operational in this case (I can't lose this service partition)?

Please help. Thanks.

Copy BartPE CD content into USB thumb drive

Hi,

I have a BartPE CD and I want to use the same content in this ISO image, but this time in my USB thumb drive instead.

I have tried to make my USB thumb drive bootable. How can I transfer the content from the BartPE CD into this USB thumb drive? It seems that I need to use a particular software to convert the ISO image into some raw file format that I can use. Does anyone here have any experience in this?

P/S: I am also using this guide to make my USB thumb drive bootable. But I can't get it bootable even after confirming that my BIOS setup is correct. What could have gone wrong here?

Please help. Thanks.
