http://forum.lowyat.net/ Sat, 26 Sep 2026 06:16:35 +0800 FeedCreator 1.7.2 http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5578122 Hi everyone,<br />I am writing this to share an extremely frustrating experience I’ve had trying to switch my broadband service from Maxis Fibre to TM Unifi, and to warn others or hopefully get some insights on how to deal with this bureaucratic mess.<br />Here is a quick summary of what happened:<br />The Intent: I wanted to terminate my Maxis contract/service and port over/sign up for Unifi to get better coverage/deals at my premise.<br />The Clear Communication: I explicitly and repeatedly informed Unifi agents and representatives that I am currently a Maxis customer and that my clear, final intention is to switch/port my line over completely.<br />The Breakdown: Despite giving explicit, upfront notice, the porting process hit a wall. Due to poor coordination, system backend issues, or red tape between the two telcos, the switch failed completely, leaving me in limbo.<br />The Result: I am stuck in a situation where neither provider is executing the transfer smoothly, resulting in wasted time, miscommunication, and potential service disruption.<br />I made it as clear as daylight to Unifi that I am leaving Maxis, yet the transition process feels completely broken. Telcos in Malaysia need to do better when it comes to number/line portability for fibre broadband.<br />Has anyone here faced a similar nightmare when switching from Maxis to Unifi? How did you finally resolve it, or who can I escalate this to (MCMC / CFM)?<br />Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.
