We all know someone who worked hard and maybe got lucky, and made it big and successful in their business and earned lots of money. Personally, my friends dad at his peak was making rm1 million a year working in the insurance industry for a long long time (great eastern). Another one friends dad owns multiple businesses and has like a rolls royce and stuff.

So these days if you walk into a vape store, the once bustling Vape Boss, full of customers puffing clouds, cheap flavoured vapes and anything you can get your hands on, is now completely unstocked and you couldnt even get popular devices or refills for your popular devices like Nanostix or even Elf Bar. Everything is just gone.......like damn, we had so many years of this bustling vape industry in Malaysia with new innovations in the vaping industry making us, the consumer, extremely lucky to be part of a thriving vape eco system.

But now, as we approach the total ban on vapes, it leaves me and many like myself, in extremely uncertain times. I vape to abstain from smoking cigarettes, and I specifically smoke John cigarettes, which is illegally imported into Malaysia through syndicates, avoiding taxes, skipping quality control, and providing a shady product to be ingested by Malaysians. So abstaining from cigarettes, especially illegally imported cigarettes, and just sticking to reputable vape brands, it really is a really great harm reduction method.

But now the question must be posed. When vapes are finally unavailable through official channels, what will happen to our Malaysian society? How will the strong demand for electronic nicotine products, which will not erase itself immedietly, translate to supply from the black market. And what are the repurcussions of a thriving black market for vapes in Malaysia.

Much like cigarettes, the illegal cigarette industry is HUGE. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, over 50% of all cigarettes sold in Malaysia are illegally imported cigarettes. Will vaping follow the same fate as this? we're so cooked

Okay, let’s be real — Malaysia has some of the craziest punishments for cannabis. Possession? Masuk penjara. Trafficking? Death penalty. Yet, everyone knows some people smoke weed anyway — quietly at rumah, in friends’ rumah, or behind closed doors.

Meanwhile, alcohol is everywhere. KL bars, mamak shops, beer festivals, even open-air pasar malam parties — totally legal. And everyone’s chill with it, even though alcohol causes way more health problems, accidents, and drama than weed.

Some things to think about:

Medical benefits: Countries worldwide use cannabis for pain, epilepsy, anxiety, even cancer patients. Malaysia? Nada. No proper system, no legal medical weed.

Personal freedom vs. public safety: Criminalising personal use hasn’t stopped anyone. People still smoke; they just risk getting saman, penjara, or worse. Is that fair?

Economic sense: Imagine legalising it like cannabis cafes in Canada or dispensaries in Thailand. Could be tax revenue, job opportunities, less police headache.

Social impact: Right now, minor users get permanent records, while alcohol abusers are celebrated at open parties and weddings. Let’s be honest — it hits poorer communities harder, while rich kids just laugh it off. Walao!!!!!

Guys… aku randomly terfikir — wtf happened to Jho Low ah?

This dude basically stole billions, lived like a Hollywood tauke, partied with Leonardo DiCaprio, Miranda Kerr, gave Rosmah her pink diamonds — then suddenly POOF. Gone. Ghosted like your ex after PTPTN reminder email.

Now latest rumour says he's STILL in China, allegedly under protection. Some say he in Shanghai, makan shark fin and abalone, living life with new face and new passport. Got people even claim he go do facial surgery to avoid getting recognised.

But seriously… why China wanna shield him? Some netizens say because he got dirt on some Chinese big shots. Some say he invested their dirty money. Others say Malaysia just no balls to pressure China too much because kita “small fish”.

Just asking because it’s 2025 and I still don’t understand how Ketuanan Melayu fits into a modern, global Malaysia that keeps talking about unity and progress.

If we keep promoting the idea that one race is tuan (masters) and others are not, how do we expect real harmony?
Does “Bangsa Malaysia” mean anything if we’re still being classified and treated differently — from birth, in school, at work, and even in death?

No one’s saying Malays don’t deserve support. Every race has its struggles. But what happens when privilege becomes entitlement? When affirmative action becomes permanent advantage?

Is Ketuanan Melayu really about helping Malays, or about controlling the narrative?

If Malaysia wants to move forward, shouldn’t we ask:

Are we building a country for all Malaysians, or just maintaining a system built for political survival?

Some say it was necessary to correct historical imbalances. Others feel it’s now outdated and holding Malaysia back.

My question is:
What happens in the next 10 years?

Will the system change as more young Malaysians speak up?

Or will it become more entrenched as politicians continue to play the race card?

Will we ever reach a point where opportunities are based fully on merit, not race?

Eh serious wei — according to a 2021 AWAM (All Women’s Action Society) survey, almost 50% of Malaysians have experienced some form of sexual harassment.
And the worst part? Most of them never reported it.

Even more stats that blew my mind:

71% of the victims were women, but men also face it

Only 14% of victims ever made a police report

Most common types: sexual jokes, lewd stares, inappropriate comments, touching, and even online harassment

A lot of it happens at workplaces, public transport, and schools/unis

Many victims said they didn’t report because they felt it was “normal” or “no one would care”

Most common harassment is not even physical — it’s stuff like:

“Wah nice body today ah”
“You single or not?”
Staring like hungry ghost
Sexual jokes and DMs

Places it happens most: work, public transport, and schools/unis

And guess what people always say when kena?

“Aiya, joking only lah.”
“Why so sensitive one?”
“This is Malaysia la, not US.”

Eh guys, just wanna ask la — how bad is corruption in PDRM nowadays?

From personal experience and stories from friends, seems like “settle tepi” culture is still very much alive. Like, kena tahan for ganja ke, expired road tax ke, most of the time can “discuss” with abang polis and jalan terus. Even once, the Sargeant himself came in and basically gave greenlight for the bribe 🤯

Some people say this is “normal” in SEA, but like… is that true? Is it just part of the system already? Like they’re underpaid so they rely on bribes? Or is it just a few bad apples?

And also, curious — are there any police stations or units that are actually bersih? Like zero tolerance kind. Or all of them ada side income culture?

I’m not trying to bash la, just really wondering if the system is too far gone or still got hope. Because sometimes feels like we live in a video game where the law is optional and everything got “shortcut” if you know the code 🤣

Would love to hear your thoughts — especially if you got real stories (boleh anon la, I get it).

Hi guys, I saw a statistic recently that more than 400,000 borrowers have failed to pay a single sen towards their PTPTN loan in 10 years. I’m curious, what could possibly happen? Is it possible that they arrest you or ruin ur credit score so u can’t take anymore loans? I have PTPTN debt that I too have not started paying for but I only just graduated in January. Thoughts?
