AJANG, May 2 — The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a nine-year-old girl feared swept away after falling into a drain in Bandar Mahkota Cheras while retrieving a ball has entered its second day, with search efforts expanded to a five-kilometre radius.

According to Sinar Harian, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the operation involves firefighters from the Kajang station, supported by two Water Rescue Team (PPDA) units from Shah Alam and KLIA.

He said other agencies assisting in the operation include the K9 Unit, Indah Water Konsortium (IWK), the Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS), Rescue Bencana Malaysia, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and the Civil Defence Force (APM).

“The PPDA team will trace the sewer system from the location where the victim fell towards Sungai Long,” he said at a press conference at the scene today, as reported by Sinar Harian.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the search team is also using IWK’s pole camera to assist in scanning inside the sewer system.

He added that rescue personnel will also enter the sewer system to search for the victim, covering a distance of about 270 metres.

“The sewer is estimated to be about 50 metres below ground level, with a diameter of around two metres,” he was quoted as saying.

He said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at about 7.08 pm yesterday.

This is second case, child fell into drain trying to collect ball. Our taman so dangerous, no proper fencing to prevent balls from going into drains. Hope the child is found soon.

I want to claim relief for parents medical bills.

I gave my dad money first, then he and my mum regularly went to see doctor for medical check up and paid with his credit card.

Reason being, I didn't have time to take leave to take my parents to hospital.

E-invoice of course would have recorded payment from my dad's credit card.

But can I claim tax relief for parents medical?

Another question, the other day I was talking to a friend. He told me he was claiming relief for monthly allowance he gave to his parents. Got such thing meh? I have never seen it anywhere in the tax filing.

BOGOTA: Colombia slapped 100% tariffs on Ecuadorean imports yesterday in response to a similar move by its South American neighbour the day before, the commerce ministry said.

The two countries have been engaged in a trade war for months, with Ecuador’s right-wing president Daniel Noboa criticising his leftist counterpart Gustavo Petro for failing to crack down on drug trafficking and illegal mining along their shared border.

On Thursday, Ecuador hiked tariffs on Colombian goods from 50% to 100%, prompting Petro to recall his ambassador to Bogota.

Colombia has imposed reciprocal tariffs every time Ecuador has raised tariffs since the start of the year, going from an initial 30% to 100%.

However, Petro specified Friday afternoon that some materials essential to Colombian industrial production will have ‘0% tariff’,” in an X post.

“We have exhausted all diplomatic efforts,” Colombian commerce minister Diana Morales said in a statement.

The simmering tensions between the two Andean nations intensified this week after Petro called former Ecuadorean vice-president Jorge Glas a “political prisoner”.

Glas, in office from 2013 to 2018 during the presidencies of leftist Rafael Correa and then Lenin Moreno, was sentenced last year to 13 years in prison for corruption.

Glas alleges he has experienced cruel and degrading treatment in prison, where he has been held since November.

Petro also raised the possibility of Colombia withdrawing from the Andean Community of Nations (CAN), a bloc that includes Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador, on Thursday.

CAN facilitated a meeting of diplomatic delegations from both countries on Friday to encourage dialogue.

Colombia’s main legal exports to Ecuador are electricity, medicines, vehicles, cosmetics and plastic products, while it imports vegetable fats and oils, canned tuna, minerals and metals, according to trade associations.

Additionally, about 70% of the cocaine produced in Colombia and Peru, the world’s largest producers, transits through Ecuador for export via its Pacific ports.

Once a haven of peace, Ecuador is now torn apart by infighting between criminal groups, leading to a rise in homicides in the country.

doctor suspect my child has ADHD

I always suspected my child had ADHD issues.

He is quite intelligent but he tends to throw big fits and tantrums when he can't get what he wants; eg a toy.

At school, he has trouble paying attention at class, teacher complain he would hang out with the naughty boys at the back of the classroom while the rest pays attention.

He can't sit still esp in a restaurant, runs around.

one day I sent him to a pediatrician because he had a bad cold, the doctor has been treating him for a few years, then he noticed that he may have ADHD issues.

Recommends for us to send him to a child psychologist or development psychologist.

He said that there may be drugs that can control his hyperactiveness so he can better pay attention at class.

May be after some years, he may no longer need those drugs.

Anyone's child has the same issues?
How you resolve it, their lack of attention and focus at school?
Any recommendation of child psychologist?

I learn once you reach 50, is end of the world.

My friends at engineering, operations can work over 60 to 70yo. Got demand for their role.

Heck, I even know one friend he is 70yo engineer can get secondment to Australia.

I learnt my lesson, never work in Accountancy. Useless role, once hit 50yo, no HR wants you.

WIth no prospects of promotion in the horizon, can forget about moving out. My career prospects limited due to MCO Covid, missed the chance.

Tell your kids don't take up accountancy. Is only good up to 47yo, then habis, nobody want you, you are like a football player at 35yo, no football club wants you.

Now with co going down the drain in profits and toxic environment, I have to learn how to survive for the next 10 years...hope don't kena buang kerja.

Now I am thinking if event i kena buang kerja ( I am not saying I am going to kena), what if I go into other bidang like Real Estate Agent?

I seen some people I know out there, can be successful operate their own office, while I know another lady who got retrenched at 55yo, became a real estate agent, just surviving ok saja.

Can someone start all over again as a real estate agent at 50yo or 60yo ?

prospects good? Can earn 10k? 20k ? 30k ?

How they start ? Apply for role at real estate agency? Would they take 50yo uncle in ?

I just want a back up plan just in case if I kena buangkerja, maybe can go to labor office sue co while working as freelance agent.

Worked as a finance manager for 8 years in this co. Trouble is during the MCO, my boss placed me in a dead end job nothing to do with accounting and i did this job for the next 6 years. Destroyed my accounting career.

Whole day I do nothing but cut cost from other department. Hated this role. Told my boss many times that I wanted to out from this role, but my fault being too good at negotiating budget reductions that he retained me there.

I tried applying out of the company, but with this 8 years experience of doing this sampah job, no co wants to hire me. Making it worse, I am already in my late 40s.

I was too honest in my cv, didn't change it. Felt so demoralized, application after application kena rejected in jobstreet and almost zero response from linked-in.

I have another colleague in a similar predicament as me. He also was made to do dead end job nothing to do with accountancy, and he is a finance manager in my co. He got some job recruiters to "paint brush" his cv to make it look like he does closing work, budgeting, financial analysis, accounting software solutions, audited accounts compilation, internal controls, etc. But when he got his new job, he got caught by his new employers, as he struggled to proof that he could do those work, they investigated him and found that he lied in his CV, and buang kerja him.

So because of this, I am very careful not to lie in my CV and still use that dead end job description that I am currently doing to apply for work.

Still, I managed to get job interviews (not many), but I struggled when hiring manager asked me what I did in my current work. I tried to pitch my past job experience, but they were more interested in current experience. WHen they heard what i was doing is too operational, they just wasn't interested in my application.

And there was those that were interested to hire me: I did a background check on those co, and found that they were making losses, have cash flow issues, in net liability position. I didn't join them as I was concern about my long term prospects as those co show a big worry over how long they can last as a going concern,

And then there was one or two good companies, but they wanted me to work 7 days a week. I didnt' want to work like that.

Just saying, if you have kids or you are going to uni, please don't take accounting degree. I really envy those people in operation. They can so easily find jobs. My colleague even after he retired, because of his experience, his past colleague recommend him to new job. Accountants? Nobody bother to recommend us. We have to apply for jobs if current co no prospects. And then there is that dreaded finance closing. If you enter new company, new industry, you have to figure out how to do closing. Worse of all, if you have to handle finance staff everyday complain to you they want to resign because lack of prospects. When they leave, nobody else know how to do the work, understand the accounting system (so many system out there Oracle, SAP, etc). So you have to placaid the staff. Then every month closing have to stay back until midnight sometimes work in weekend. WHile you see your operation colleagues go back home at 530pm. Then finance environment also not so happy place to work, mostly women environment. I see operation people can go out to see clients, don't have to clock in to office. Everyday go into office have to clock in. Sigh...

So this is story of my life...late 40s stuck can't get out of this dreary company. My CV looks like crap because I have been doing dead end job for 8 years,, no company wants to hire me for my accounting expertise. Sigh...this is my rant.

Why Msia always have good infrastructure

I went to Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan, I notice their buildings, parks and underground stations are clean and quite well maintained.

But compared to Malaysia, I just don't understand why our buildings are so run down after just a few years.

Eg 1: Zoo Negara's panda enclosure, when first open it was clean and nice, after just a few years, the roof is dirty and blackened
Eg 2: I visited Aquaria 10 years ago vs recently, it looked quite run down.
Eg 3: KLIA, when first opened, it was fantastic, modern and clean. But toilets are dirty, until recently they nbothered to do something about it, but you could see it being a bit run down. Trains kept breaking down.

Is it because of the humid weather? or is it just because the authorities hold back budget for maintenance or cleaning bill ?

I give another example, bus stops, roof leak, MRT station looks dirty.

Why we can't have 1st class maintenance?

Even Bangkok is cleaner than here.

Thinking of being a real estate agent

recently I met up with a friend, he is a young graduate who decided to become a real estate agent, he told me that his agency has a lot of retirees.

gives me an idea.

I've been having a lot of thought about it, as I am in my early 50s and as a salaried worker, I am kind of tired of the politics in my office as well as being looked over for promotion. I am thinking about taking up a commission based job, in case I kena retrenched.

My questions are these:

1) Do I need to be part of a real estate agency?
2) Would they hire me in my 50s or when I have retired?
3) What is the requirement to become one? Must take exam?
4) What kind of jobs can I take up? Do I have the freedom to choose my territory or the market area?
5) Is the sky the limit? I can earn = to the number of clients I close ?
6) What is the future of this business? Would it be replaced by AI one day?
7) What about property valuation, what does it take to get this qualification?

I was expecting a home repair man to come, so waiting for call.

Then got this number call, I picked up and made first mistake by saying "hello".

No answer for a long time.

Then this same tel no call me again, i didn't pick up.

Call me again, I pick up. He claim from Astro

I heard a lot of background sound of people talking, as if he is in a busy call center. But I never come across call centers so noisy inbackground.

He ask me if I was so so, Mr Palisades.

I refuse to acknowledge, I ask him what is this about.

He ask about payment bla bla bla.

I said I have few acc, which one you mean? Then he ask me to say out my acc number

I ask him back, why need to say out, doesn't he have my acc no?

He ask me to confirm if I am Mr Palisades again.

I said I refuse as many scam calls nowadays.

He then ask me for my acc no. I said I cannot tell him, now as I got a few. Then he question me, he said how can you not know your account no.

Then it dawned on me, that this idiot is a scammer as call center people don't talk like this.

I said "Call center talk like this one ? So rude."

Before he could say anything, suddenly line got cut off.

I think there is a kill switch, his superiors must have cut the line.

Too bad for him, hope he has a nice dinner tonight. Anyways don't feel sorry for scammers.

Procedure to buy subsale properties?

I am interested to know how to buy sub sale properties

However with so many scams going on these days, I am really afraid to buy.

I checked out I property.com but info is insufficient.

I've gotten some EPF money to invest in a house that I want to move in.

I already tired of staying in condo for years. Footstep, furniture dragging and door banging, 20 years of this. I just want to move to a house for good.

If I were to buy property, I want to go through a reputable law firm. I will tsf money to them before going to seller. I will not want to pay directly to anyone.

May I know what is the procedure or FLOW for buy sub sale property ?

I feel so afraid to buy property due to scams, I've been scammed before engaging certain services, and the co's staff ran away 10k of my money. Fortunately the co was willing to bear the losses. Since that day, I afraid to do any big transactions.

Nose block 1 mth ago, doctor gave Oxynaxe

curse the doctor and curse the pharma co that produces oxynase.

Last month I had bad cold n nose block, then doctor prescribed it to me, without telling me the risks and only to use it a few times.

Now everytime my nose is blocked I need to use oxynase, to clear it. If not it will swell and both of my nose are blocked.

I can't even speak well during work because I had to breath through my mouth.

Now I have what they call a rhintis medicamentosa.

Why the pharma co issue one whole spray bottle, when only few sprays are allowed? ridiculous, so unethical !

They just want to increase their sales !

And their doctors? either not well train, or just continue to sell their drugs as their agents !

DON'T EVER USE OXYNASE FOR NOSE BLOCK.

A FEW SPRAYS WILL ONLY TEMPORARY RELIEF, then CAUSES YOUR WHOLE NOSE INFLAMMATION TO RELY ON THEM.

WORSE OF ALL, may develop POLYPS which may need surgery to remove

People abandon old cars beside people houses

One of my neighbors in the taman happen to live at a corner lot.

He laments that there are idiots that park their 20 year old abandon cars beside his house.

His house is those type of house that have no side land, in between two houses is a road.

So there are at least two abandoned cars, been there like 5 years.

FInally he got the municipal council to do something about it, but must follow SOP, to paste on the car warning and advertise in newspaper warning to owner to collect car otherwise will get towed away.

Because this costs money, sometimes municipal council not willing to do so or delay. This causes more anguish to owners.

As I was talking to my neighbor, as these old clunky rusty cars were causing an eyesore to his house as well as fear it may attract rats.

What if? One day, there are >10 year old EV cars that these irresponsible owners purposely abandon park beside people's houses?

Goodness gracious, its like parking a time bomb beside your house. Its scary.

EV batteries easily catch fire and is very hard to extinguish.

More so, Municipal councils take ages to clear the car away.

Why can't we have these laws, to protect home owners and make these car owners accountable for abandoning their old cars?? like imprisonment or fine?

Why noWADAYS School/kindergarten reward kids

I rasa so bengang with school.

Everyday, the teachers pass junk food to kids and reward them with these cheap unhealthy food.

Even the kindergartens train the kids from young to eat junk food.

Is there some conspiracy between junk food companies to sponsor these stupid schools?

I heard some parents complain but teachers still feeding and encouraging kids with junk food.

no wonder cancer and high blood pressure problem so rampant among kids these days

51yo feel macam dead end can't find job

Earlier I have issue at work. Everyday nightmare dealing with this fella difficult staff.

Want to change job, kept applying, but recently 2 employers at jobstreet rejected my application.

Then I bombarded linkedin with 30 applications, macam no progress.

Is life over at 51yo? Not sure why employers refuse to take me in. I am in good health, no high blood pressure. I know people as young as 37yo already kena high blood pressure. HR so particular with age meh?

Been applying for 20 over jobs, so far not much progress.

I've got few issues:

1) Linked is only use by HR: means only they have the access. Unlike Jobstreet, HR would delegate the access to the hiring manager to look for the candidates, so its very hotly active.

As for Linked, only HR can access not hiring manager. So usually HR screws up in narrowing down the shortlisted candidates. I've seen how idiot HRBPs kept giving me the wrong candidates, after 20 over candidates I decided to take matters into my own hands, and my 1st candidate, I aced it. I found the perfect candidate and hired the fella.

2) Linked, does not indicate salary expectations, candidates ended up applying for the wrong jobthinking the salary range is within what they seek. In fact, overqualified.

3) Linked since control by HR, if the HR Pic is ZzZzzzzz, they advertise, I apply, nobody bothers to see.

4) Linked forces employers to go for 5 slots, 10 slots, 20 slots a month. So not all the time those jobs advertised, co is actively looking for them. FOr instance, if every month you advertise 5 slots, maybe you already have 3 filled and 2 vacant, you just repeat the same old jobs.

5) Another aspect is so troublesome, is that some jobs forces you to apply from the company website. I have to open an account, retype all my work and education references. Damn. Even autofill failed big time. Co name went into job position description. I hate doing this.

So am I right to say so? Anyone have better ideas to apply via linked? any other better job sites?

Need Help on this problematic staff

Got this problematic staff.

I just joined this new co, this staff have been clinging on to the system, nobody else knows how to do it.

I am this staff's so called supervisor.

The trouble is, 60% of my job is conducted by this fella.

The fella conduct meetings without me, and when I approach for update, gives me layman unsatisfactory answers.

Co dare not take action, my boss is chicken, so HR can't take action.

Damn I want to quit, looking for job now.

Ridiculous, no wonder this co is so screwed up.

I put everything black n white on that staff, then that fella went ballistics.

Co don't even bother to take action.
