How To Master Scales

hi...can someone here help me to understand how is scales work?

Example lets start with Am Pentatonic scales, from what i read in Am Pentatonic got 5 boxes/shape that we must know rite.(if i'm wrong forgive me for my noob to understand them).Ok the question is :

1. From what note i have to start to practice this scales?the Root note?the 6th string in the 1st fret?or at any string at any fret as long as i follow those boxes/shape?

2. Ok then if i have mastered that boxes/shapes, how am i going to combine all of them to make a good licks or riff or whatever and not sound like a crap.Is it must to use the same note like if i stop at E note on the 1st box and i continue with E note at the 2nd box?

3. Ok let say my friend playing C D G E chords and i want to solo, which note i have to start 1st?

4. What is the difference between Major and Minor Pentatonic scales?

ok thats all for now.i've been stuck at this part for a moment although i have a book about scales but i dont know how,where and when to start to practice the scales.forgive me for all of the questions

my budget around RM2500..
using it for 3d design proposed and game ofcourse..

i prefer to have AMD coz i heard it more cheapper and better..
and i like to have the 4g ram and and 19"/20" lcd..
