Why Shopee is so weird?

Malaysians have been negotiating since independence. Even the independence was negotiated among various groups.

Bargaining is the norm in the Malaysian society, especially in traditional Malay/Chinese and Indian shops.

Shopee/Lizard vouchers brought back the negotiating culture in Malaysia. A new form of negotiation, where you negotiate prices based on the voucher used for each product. Different time, event and circumstances gives you a different price.

Recently, Shopee started the Shopee VIP subscription, where you 'pay' to get better vouchers. You PAY to get a lower price? Sounds absurd. Your intent from the beginning is to get a lower price, why pay extra to pay less? Sounds like a gambling SCAM!!

Humans should be "protected"

Following recent development, I think it's inevitable humans will start competing with AI on planet Earth

Some may argue, AI can only strive to take over humans place on planet Earth. If they create another species with additional DNA strings, they will die and face extinction.

Others may argue, the conversion of humans into robots is an inevitable process of evolution. It's a big leap, but it has to happen.

Here, today, I would like to request to the Gods of planet Earth to give protection to humans so that they can compete with AI in the future.

Since humans created AI themselves, they should be given "protection" until they will be equal to the AI that would replace them.

I have met many people who would like to be members of the forum, but can't obtain an invite for many reasons.

I would suggest to mods to open a section for new registrants who don't have an invite. In this section, newbies can introduce themselves, and campaign to registered members for an invite. The rest of the sections would not be available to post for the newbies.

Selamat Petang /k sekalian,

I was browsing TikTok and saw an ad offering MONEY for your OLD MONEY...

So, I broke my father, mother, uncle, auntie, cousin, grandpa, grandma, and neighbour piggy bank and found a bunch of Old Money.

So, I went to TikTok and found the antique buyer account and messaged him...

The message on TikTok gave a Telegram link, and I added him on Telegram.

Then I got a message as follows;

I clicked the link and it brought me to this page;

According to their page, Syed Saddiq and Nurul Izzah was successful in registering, so I assume they are legit.

After entering my name, the page asked me to verify my telegram account. I verified, including entering a code

Then I got this message. I can't wait, I gonna make thousands with my old monies!!

Looks like my Telegram Account would be used in SCAMbodia...

Android vs. Surface Pro

Today, we are spoilt with choice. There are hundreds of different stylus and keyboards for Tablets. Each manufacturer comes out with tens of different tablets within the same segment, with minor adjustments. Market forces decides the trends and norms within each niche. Back in the day, getting a screen protector is prized possession, but these days, there are hundreds of types screen protector/tempered glass sold for each model(mostly costing only a few ringgit).

There are 3 main OS for Tablets; Android, Apple and Windows.

As per my thread here, I have tried and tested Surface Pro 5 which runs on Windows. I like it, and was planning to upgrade to SP11. Almost.

The selling point for Surface Pro tablets in the Windows OS. A dying OS, IMO. These devices are powerful, but they consume too much power. Windows updates never ends. Every week it take GBs of data, putting a strain on 4G/5G metered plans. I rarely exceed my data quota on Android, but I can finish it within a few days on Win10/11.

Surface Pro has a big screen. Android tablets do also.

Surface Pro makes scrolling easy with a mouse. Android tablets can support a mice through Bluetooth or OTG USB C.

Other than specific software and Windows-only niche features I see no reason to buy Surface Pro 11.

Prove me wrong.... All feedback are appreciated...

After 3 months only receive refund.

Okay, here was the plan....

I gave my son RM50 a day for expenses.

I added a supplementary line to my postpaid which comes with a phone, and it comes to RM300-400 a month... Unlimited call and data.

Last month bill came to RM960 for the supplementary line.

My credit limit with postpaid is RM3k+

Anyone here can solve the puzzle...where did the money go

My First Surface Pro

Good Evening Ktards,

I always loved Windows OS, using it from the 90s, when you could make a cup of coffee, drink it, and wash the cup, and your PC still haven't loaded Win 95.

Fast forward today, most budget laptops can load Win11 in less than 30 seconds.

It was interesting when Microsoft decided to manufacture their own range of Windows Laptops and Tablets. I always wished to acquire one, but it is always out of my budget, where the Asian brands give a better bang for the buck compared to Microsoft products.

Fast forward 2024, I saw an ad on Shopee, Microsoft Surface Pro 5 refurbished is selling for RM950. I had my doubts. I traced the seller account, and saw many affiliates selling the same product. I chose the seller with the lowest price. Messaged the seller, and he told me I can have a look and pick the item up at the shop in Pandan Indah.

I drove to Pandan Indah the next day, with lots of doubts about the tablet. It suppose to be a 8 year old tablet, so I didn't have my hopes very high.

Reached the shop after being guided by Google Maps. I expected Google Maps to show some tantrums because I'm going to purchase a second hand Windows tablet, but in the end I found the shop.

I was greeted by 2 South Asian guys at the shop. I told them about my Shopee Order. They traced my order and handed me a tablet. Everything was fine and the order went through.

After a few days using the tablet, Microsoft has a in built app which can generate reports on SP5 batteries. Disappointingly, the SP5 battery could only charge up to 60% of capacity. Searched Shopee, Laz and Ali Express, the OEM battery costs around RM150. The battery has similar specifications with the original, but sellers never call it original, because they risk getting sued by Microsoft.

To make matters worse, SP5 has a repairability score of 1/10 according to ifixit, making it one of the hardest tablets to repair. Many reviews online noted that the screen can easily be damaged on untrained hands. To replace the battery, most of the electronics needs to be disassembled making it very tricky and troublesome.

I bought all the required tools and managed to replace the battery within 2 hours. It wasn't easy, but definitely doable.

Now I am happily browsing on my SP5.
