Normal Budget for buying gold jewellery?

Hello everyone <!--emo&--><img src='http://static.lowyat.net/style_emoticons/default/wave.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wave.gif' /><!--endemo-->. So lately, I have been wanting to buy 916 gold jewellery, most probably a ring. Do you guys know what is a good budget for gold jewellery? Like I heard kuala Pilah is cheap but is it much cheaper than Poh Kong? I don’t have enough money to shop at mall gold shops, like I think my budget is at most RM600. If I can get a ring for RM300 and less that would be even better. Do you guys have any idea about the budget you need to shop at independent gold shops that are not chain stores?
