Ask about travelling to Taiwan.

Aside from Klook how to get a proper local travel agent to bring you around. How to check if its legit ?

Nowadays got job scammers, afraid of being scammed.

Plan to stay around Taipeh.

Anything nice to see ? Want to go for yaomingshan but heard that this time of the year is very hot. Bringing children along so not advisable.

Anything nice to eat?

Anything nice to buy? Food stuff? Souvenir? Taiwan known cheap for what item?

So if use Air Asia, do they allow to bring in Stroller? Must be check in luggage?

Any idea how to get cheap rate for Taipeh 101? RM80 per head?

Job search woes: it is an employer's market ?

I have been working in the accounting field for 24 years. Never have I encountered such tough job search environment since the 1998 financial crisis.
In the past, I worked as an auditor, travel agency, factory and now in palm oil industry.

Problem is in my recent job, my boss has delegated me a very non accounting role, which I am sick and tired of doing. I want a change in job and focus in the accounting field. I been applying for accounting roles salary 16-20k.

However, each time I apply I encounter this problem:
1. Other industries reject me in jobstreet. I applied to airline, trading, retail, property development, insurance, steel, chip, automobile - all rejected me
2. Only companies from Palm Oil industry want to interview me, 6 out of 10 of my interviews are from this industry.
3. I am struggling to answer interview questions because I am applying for accounting roles when they ask me what I did, I have to simulate what I did in the past because recently 4 years ago till now, I have been doing a non accounting role
4. Recently a job recruiter called me and I took opportunity to ask about the job sitution, the recruiter admitted is now an employer's market, they can pick and choose who they like, they prefer the accountant to be in the same industry.
5. I also noticed when I apply for jobs, used to be like 80 to 120 job applicants. Now is crazy, I see some jobs can burst from 250 to 350 applicants per job !!!!! From the numbers I can see that it is an employer's market.

So my question is:
1. Do you feel the same way with the frustration with the job market now ? Its an employer's market ?
2. Is this just in the accounting field ? Other fields like IT not face this same issue as me ?
3. Is it because of my age, in mid 40s ?
4. What should I change in terms of interview/resume strategy or application ?
5. Why employers are so fickle, they only want to see my most recent job CV and not look at my past job experiences ?
6. Are the first line of filtering applicants is HR ? Not the hiring manager ? How to get past this ridiculous filtering process that only seek applicants from same industry ? It never used to be like this !
7. When this crazy phase going to end ? Is it because of Ukraine war and after MCO, recession is coming ? last time so easy for me to change job, when I apply within 3-6 months I can find a job. Now its been 2 years, I still can't find.
