Hi. I have like 100k-ish-200k mqx to spend on myself. I plan to enter the workforce again by mid or late 40s as i feel i might not have the necessary power to continue doing business. I want something that'll enhance and give me that prestige. So i am looking at:

1) cambridge senior management program

2) taking mandarin full time

3) diploma in accounting full time

It has always been a dream of mine to go to an ivy league. Nearest i got was rejection by oxford in 2015. Anyone has anything else that i should look up for my plan to enter the workforce again later? As it is i have an mba and running an enterprise.

Happened to a staff of mine

My staff bought a used car from a dealer. Axia advance 2016. Agreed price was 30k. She puts a depo of 5k. Plans to take out a loan for 25k.

On day of signing and delivery of car, goes to bank to sign, loan is now 33k, car price is now 43k and she paid depo for 10k.

My staff explained to bank that there must be something wrong. She explained her bit but bank says, if you dont sign, we'll blacklist you in the system so you're going to be in a pickle for hire purchase.

The dealer says its the work of a part timer who has now quit and is willing to pay 500 for her troubles.

She signed under duress because the bank was strong arming her. She could have got a brand new bezza but now is with a 2016 ride. And who knows what else is wrong with the car.

Just a story to start the day with and how some of us will always be mean.

The house after you were born

I'm killing time and I hope everyone has a great day.

Anyways, after I was born, my parents took me to Kampung segambut dalam. The house isn't there anymore. It was an old shack that they rented in front of the main road. If anyone remembers segambut dalam, back in the 90's there were people that kept ostriches.

And there was a frog. A really big frog that was inside the house. It would go into the room I was in and stayed under the closet or bed. My parents didn't want to kill it because of Malay superstition so my dad took it away and threw it out behind the house. And it came back everytime my dad threw it out. So my parents decided to leave it be.

After a month, the frog left.

Tldr: kampung segambut dalam and a frog baby sit for me

I was on a flight last week. And on this flight, there was a whole family of malays including extended families. These were the type which got government scholars for their kids hence the semi english used while talking between them. I heard some like:

1) kalau you behave mummy beli you tois ok
2) datang here daddy suka you

I think you get the drift. But what irked me off most was the mother. While boarding the connect flight, she says:

I raised 5 boys, i know how to fly and handle economy class people. You can tell how proud she was. I was travelling with a son of an adviser to a sultan. You wouldn't know the guy. You would only knew if he told you.

The point of this is to always be careful in life of what you say and how proud you are. Sometimes, there are bigger fishes than you. Good weekend folks

Calculator app opening up non stop windows 10

Hi. My laptop lenovo ideapad is running windows 10. Suddenly after update, calculator app opens up non stop. Uninstalling the app results in another window opening saying to look for a program online.

Has anyone encountered a similar situation and the fix?

Based off the thread about breakpad where the buyer got conned due to his BMF. I would predominantly buy products or services based solely on value and not how it will impact the seller. Exception is kedai runcit (snacks,candy bars, chips, ice creams) where i try to support local mom and pops compared to 99speedmart. They don't need my money.

I want to ask indians, Chinese, malays, how would you choose given these scenarios.

A) 2 shops. One malay, one chinese/indian. One product. Same price. Same everything. Shops are side by side, which would you buy from?

B) 2 shops, one indian, one chinese/malay. One product. Price at the shop (shared race with you) is higher. Same everything. Shops are side by side. Which would you buy from?

Personally i would choose the one that had less customer.

A friend wants to use my trsck record

Just want some opinion.

A friend and his partners are trying to lease land from state government to do business.

They need someone with a track record so this is where i come in. They want to put my name in, and i sign docs to resign and when they get the land lease, they remove me.

My company secretary is off duty so i can only be in touch with her tomorrow morning. An insight from a family member is to be careful because this can make me liable to debts if they undertake any loans or financings.

The question is, is there a position where i can assume temporarily without undertaking any liabilities.

Wanted to post in serious kopitiam but i cant seem to find the option if any.

And they came up with nonsensical crap like 5 employees or less and you don't have to follow the order. The problem is, in a group of 10, if 8 had their wages increased while the other 2 didnt, all 10 have to go to mydin to buy stuff. Prices would increase because mydin had no choice but to increase wages. Manufacturers have no choice but to increase wages. All 10 are affected but only 8 had increased wages see where im going?

Our government has always been stupid. Wages went up by 25%, you tell me how a cashier can increase her production when working hours remain the same?

Then they come up with another crap, working hours per week is cut from 45 hours. Employers have to give the same amount for less working hours. You tell me how productivity has increased?

Anyways, my point is, we are being ruled by idiots. Our policies are being drafted by idiots. It seems like they are doing this because they cannot tap into business owners "excess". They want owners to share with employees who share no risk or burden and whose reputation are never on the line. Why should they?

As a businessman, i am here to turn a profit. I am not here to do charity. I do charity from my profit. Do not make life difficult for my kind.

My neighbor passed away

Yesterday, I wanted to send my kids out for night class at about 1945. It was raining and from inside the house, i heard some commotion next door.

Being a good neighbor, I didn't want to ask my next door neighbor as it could have been embarrassing. So i made my way to the car.

Then this anneh called me. Asked me if i knew owner or any relatives of the house a door away from me, in this case, my next door neighbor's immediate neighbor.

Turned out that my neighbor passed away on desaru highway. He rode a bike and either it was a hit and run or he fell on his way back.

I asked the anneh, was there a woman, and he said no. My guess is, they went for diwali getaway with family and this guy had to leave early.

The annehs then picked him up on his lorry, drove him to hospital and came to my taman looking for my neighbor's relative at his house. They got the address from his ic.

Lorry was a lorry that transported caskets would you believe it. What's heartbreaking for me is, i wanted to give the guy a hamper for diwali but that ship has sailed.

At about 3am i could hear wailings as his family came home. Heartbreaking and I couldn't sleep.

We could be next so do good. Dont off put those good intentions.

Cleaning house and throwing stuff out

Im having relatives over later so im helping my wife do spring cleaning. Around 4 im going to contribute 2 expats to help out.

What's heartbreaking is when i found some old school towels that i used as a kid, that my wife has cut into 4 pieces and throwing them out. A very old damansara specialist hospital also received the same treatment.

And most clothes of my boys when they were toddlers are being thrown out as well.

I am not a hoarder but i keep stuff because of the memories attached to them. So when theres no stuff, no more memories.

Want to know if any of you encountered this situation and how did you react. Did you get in a fight and saved the items or you threw them out too?

On a good note i found like 5-10k in boxes

I am currently renting. A house in front of my row comes out for sale. The house next to the one for sale is occupied by a Chinese family.

He comes up to me and tells me to buy the place. He says don't move because he knows im renting and looking for a place. He apologized because he didn't get the owner's number when they came in to clean. He thought they were moving in and he realized they were selling when banner came up.

It left me feeling good about myself. Anyways, i think this is because my wife always give out hampers and gifts during festivities to our neighbors on the same street and they return the gift-giving during raya.

Just want to know if you guys are this close with your neighbors and any good stories of hope and what nots of multicultural malaysia?

Asthma since child. First came when i was 8. Doctors thought trigger was pollen.

Keratoconus early 20's. Perfect vision and one day during playing FM07, saw everything double on top of each other. Right eye was doing it.

Autoimmune; psoriasis early 30's. Patches popped up on both feet around shinbone. Left one disappeared. Right one moved further to the side of shinbone.

Anyways, would like to see if anyone developed anything after any incidents like a crash or a knock. Afraid of what i'll get when im in my 40's. Fingers crossed/touch wood.

Chinese and indian brothers

I've made it a habit to ask old chinese and old indians whether they still have families in mainland and in india. And how many generations have you been here and do you know specifically why your ancestors came here?

So far, only a 70+ chinese says he still does and he says his great grandparents were the first to come. They came because no job and famine struck their village. He still keeps family ties in china and goes back once in a while.

The indian is a professional early 50's and does his pilgrimage every few years. Very close with family back in india. Used to be in the army. Sadly i never asked how many generations of his family has been here and what made them come.

Ever since forcing us to download their stupid MAE app which is just an e wallet disguised as a banking app and making maybank2u app redundant, it seems the whole bank is going in the direction of pig shit farce.

For some reason, i can't log in to my company account. Says incorrect password. Which is bullshit. What is infuriating is ive been spending 1 hour trying to get through their shit line but no success. 1 hour waiting.

We need more banks and more competition. Maybank is becoming useless.

Ford Transit second gen workshop/wiring

I just bought a ford transit 1997 second gen second facelift last week for office use by staff to pickup stuff from our storage site 2 km away.

Van in good condition, no rust under body can go 80-100km/hour in 5th gear. Used to be a van sekolah thats whyI think the condition is good but engine sounds like a boat.

Anyone know any good reliable workshop or wireman that can have a look at the van in Johor area? Simpang renggam to jb is ok. Anything north of simpang renggam i cannot commit.

Looking for honest/reliable mechanic to look at the van and for periodical maintenance. Any referrals are welcomed. Tq /k

About 2/3 years ago, i had lunch with a serious big shot. Minimum worth of the guy is .1 billion and maximum i have no idea. I forgot why i met him.

We were having lunch at famous kopitiam, there were four of us. Big shot, his macai, me and my brother.

So we ordered food, and everyone's food arrives. Being melayu, the trad is to wait for everyone's food to arrive before you chow down or at least wait till the elders get theirs first.

3 meals came and the big shot didn't get his food. So after the 3rd meal came, he says, guys go on ahead no worries and you don't have to wait.

So we chow down and his order still didnt arrive. Not once did he called a waiter or anything or get angry. Things i usually see and what i would usually do back then.

After half and hour and all the meals were finished, he asks his macai to check on his food and it turned out the guy didnt write down his order.

He didn't blow a fuse and just said re-order. It amazes me how calm and patient he was. There was no sense of entitlement or "i pay now you go bark' kind of attitude. Something that i am ashamed to say, but i used to have this attitude.

TLDR: very rich guy, i estimate minimum value .1 b in american greenback has patience of a saint. Anyone have any other experience with the super rich?
