Guys how do you find the balance between work (7am -10pm)?

I have 2 failed relationship to date and both ex-girlfriends complained that I put career ahead of themselves.

I used to be in a LDR around 2000 km away.

work in oil&gas, pay good but stress like hell. everything is too expensive to screw up and make mistake

I have a friend(X) that keeps bugging me for help to solve his problem.Based on what he told me, the story goes like this:

X : Last week, i told you that i love you. I'm sorry, but i doesn't mean it. Don't take my words seriously. you know my attitude..
girl : (hangs up the phone)

X love the girl. another guy, Y also has some interest in her. Y is her schoolmate for a fews years, while X knew her for less than 3 months. Y is going after her, but he doesn't make it. the girl has no feelings at all towards Y. meanwhile X is getting along even better with the girl.

However,in the end, X has to let her go because Y is his childhood friend.(refer to bolded dialogue)

Do you think X still stand his chance to reconcile with the girl?
