WASHINGTON: Presiden Amerika Syarikat, Donald Trump, menyuarakan keyakinannya pada Isnin (20 Okt) bahawa China tidak akan menyerang Taiwan, sambil berkata beliau menjangkakan untuk mengekalkan hubungan baik dengan Presiden China, Xi Jinping, dan memeterai perjanjian perdagangan lewat bulan ini.

Tanpa memberi komitmen jelas untuk mempertahankan Taiwan secara ketenteraan, Encik Trump berkata Beijing faham bahawa Amerika Syarikat masih merupakan “kuasa tentera terkuat di dunia, jauh mengatasi yang lain.”

Encik Trump juga berkata beliau diundang untuk melawat China awal tahun depan dan menjangkakan akan memuktamadkan perjanjian dagang dengan Encik Xi apabila kedua-dua pemimpin bertemu lewat bulan ini di Korea Selatan.

Pertemuan di Korea Selatan itu akan menjadi yang pertama antara Encik Trump dan Encik Xi sejak permulaan penggal kedua Encik Trump dan berlaku di tengah ketegangan baharu berhubung tarif dan kawalan eksport.

Encik Trump berkata keutamaannya adalah mencapai perjanjian dagang yang “adil” dengan Beijing tetapi enggan mengulas sama ada perkara itu akan menjejas sokongan Amerika terhadap Taiwan.

“Saya mahu berlaku adil kepada China. Saya sayang hubungan saya dengan Presiden Xi. Kami ada hubungan yang sangat baik,” katanya.

But my Taiwanese friend told me that human like these are everywhere in Taiwan, especially at Taipei. She said Malaysians cukur la only 2 lunatics so far.

She also impressed that public, even political parties regarding gov or oppo are in fully solidarity with the school tragedy. She said if happened in Taiwan, media will be only goreng news and different parties will attack each others until public forgotten.
