Dalam satu kenyataan hari ini, Na'imah berkata bahawa sebarang percubaan yang mencadangkan dia berada di sebalik pendedahan Bloomberg yang melibatkan Ketua Pesuruhjaya SPRM Azam Baki bukan sahaja tidak bertanggungjawab tetapi juga satu penghinaan kepada wartawan yang berkenaan.

"Dakwaan bahawa saya cuba mengganggu kestabilan atau menggulingkan kerajaan adalah sesuatu yang menggelikan hati dan mengingatkan kita kepada tuduhan lalu tentang menggulingkan kerajaan yang dihadapi oleh perdana menteri sendiri, apabila beliau pernah mengisytiharkan mempunyai "angka yang besar" untuk merampas kuasa."

"Tidak seperti beliau, saya tidak pernah terlibat, merenung atau menyokong sebarang usaha untuk menjejaskan kestabilan atau menjatuhkan kerajaan yang dipilih."

Early trials show 90% of patients with advanced cancers saw halted growth or shrinkage

Chinese scientists have developed a pioneering cancer treatment that modifies tumors to resemble “pork,” effectively triggering the body’s immune system to attack them, according to a report by the South China Morning Post on Monday.

The researchers have engineered tumors to mimic pig tissue, prompting the immune system to recognize them as foreign and launch a targeted attack using the same response that leads to organ transplant rejection.

The study, published in Cell on Jan. 18, employs a genetically modified virus to disguise cancer cells as pig tissue, inducing a hyperacute immune rejection that specifically targets tumors while sparing healthy cells.

Early clinical trials have shown remarkable results, with 90% of patients suffering from advanced, treatment-resistant cancers experiencing either halted tumor growth or shrinkage.

One cervical cancer patient was even declared clinically cured.

This breakthrough offers new hope for patients whose cancers have not responded to conventional therapies, opening a promising new direction in oncology.

The research, led by Professor Zhao Yongxiang, director of the State Key Laboratory of Targeting Oncology at Guangxi Medical University, has gained widespread attention on Chinese social media.

Proton targets 200,000 units for 2026 after January sales hit 15-year high

Proton's standout performer in January, the Saga, sold 10,285 units during the month.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 3): Malaysia’s national carmaker Proton Holdings Bhd reported on Tuesday that its vehicle sales nearly doubled year-on-year (y-o-y) in January, driven by strong demand for the Proton Saga, which recorded its highest-ever monthly sales volume.

Proton sold 19,833 units in January, a 15-year high, compared with 9,918 units in the same month last year.

Following this strong start, the carmaker is now targeting total sales of 200,000 units for 2026 and expects its market share to rise to an estimated 30.6% — its highest level since January 2012.

“Proton has had an excellent start to 2026. Our efforts to refresh the line-up with new ICE (internal combustion engine) and EV (electric vehicle) offerings, while communicating about the technologies in every model, are starting to pay dividends,” deputy chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa said in a statement.

The group plans to further expand local production activities to ensure customers “get the best possible vehicles at an attractive price”, he said.

Proton estimated that total industry volume for January rose 28.3% y-o-y in January. However, on a month-on-month basis, the figure would be down 28.6% from the record-breaking levels seen in December 2025.

Its standout performer in January, the Saga, sold 10,285 units during the month. Since its official launch on Nov 27, 2025, more than 19,000 units of the model have been delivered — equivalent to one unit every five minutes, the company noted.

“With booking momentum remaining strong and nearly 100,000 orders placed thus far, the model is projected to be the company's star performer for the foreseeable future,” Proton said.

The model’s upcoming launch in Brunei in February, alongside a gradual roll-out to other international markets, is expected to further support sales, it added.

Sales of other Proton models also showed strong growth in January, with the Proton X50 recording 2,429 units sold, up 69.3% y-o-y, while the newest Proton X70 achieved 672 units, an increase of 16.5% y-o-y.

The Proton S70, which posted its best monthly performance since May 2025, saw 1,604 units sold, representing a 40.3% y-o-y improvement, while the flagship Proton X90 saw sales rise 24.1% y-o-y to 252 units.

New Proton Saga gets nearly 100K orders

SUBANG JAYA: The new Proton Saga has received nearly 100,000 orders to date.

Proton said the new Saga saw 10,285 units sold in January, which is a new monthly sales record.

Over 19,000 units of the new Saga have been delivered since the official launch on Nov 27, 2025, equivalent to one unit being delivered every five minutes.

“Few OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) have a model in continuous production for over 40-years and even fewer set a new sales record after more than four decades, so this is an achievement Proton and all Malaysian’s can be proud of," said Proton deputy CEO Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa.

"With its Brunei launch coming in February, a gradual roll-out to other international markets and strong domestic demand, there are more highlights coming for the Saga this year,” he added.

Azalina: Cabinet agrees to 10-year prime minister limit, constitutional amendments to follow

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 31 — The government has decided to introduce a 10-year limit on the tenure of the Prime Minister, in a move aimed at strengthening accountability, checks and balances, and constitutional governance.

The decision follows extensive review of public feedback, policy inputs, and recommendations gathered through engagement sessions involving various stakeholders, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, in charge of law and institutional reform, said in a press statement today.

“The government has agreed to the policy proposal to limit the tenure of the prime minister to 10 years as a key measure to strengthen the principles of accountability, checks and balances, and constitutional governance under the Madani government institutional reform agenda, during yesterday’s weekly Cabinet meeting,” she said.

She said the policy is intended to prevent excessive concentration of power, promote democratic principles, and boost public confidence in the nation’s leadership.

The reform aligns Malaysia with mature democratic practices internationally, where fixed leadership terms are commonly used to ensure transparency and prevent over-centralisation of power.

“The government will proceed with the necessary amendments to the Federal Constitution, which are expected to be tabled in Parliament during the current session,” Azalina added.

The move forms part of the broader Madani government agenda to strengthen institutions, enhance governance, and uphold the rule of law.

The proposed constitutional amendments, once approved, would formally cap the prime minister’s term and could mark a significant step in Malaysia’s institutional reforms.

China cancels all flights on 49 routes to Japan

BEIJING – All scheduled flights on 49 air routes between China and Japan have been cancelled for February, flight data showed on Jan 26, as Chinese airlines extended special ticket change and refund policies for Japan-related travel.

Data from flight information platform Flight Master showed that as at Jan 26, 49 China-Japan routes had cancelled all flights scheduled for February, an increase from January.

In January, the cancellation rate for flights from the Chinese mainland to Japan stood at 47.2 per cent, up 7.8 percentage points from December.

China’s three major domestic carriers – Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines – issued notices on Jan 26 detailing special handling measures for tickets on Japan routes, citing a travel reminder issued by China’s Foreign Ministry.

Under the policies, passengers holding eligible tickets purchased or reissued before midday on Jan 26 can make one free change, subject to fare differences, or apply for fee-free refunds for unused segments. The measures cover Japan-related flights scheduled between March 29 and Oct 24, including services to Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sapporo and Okinawa.

The latest adjustments follow earlier steps taken by Chinese airlines to manage Japan-bound demand. In December 2025, Air China, China Eastern and China Southern extended a previous Dec 31 deadline for ticket refunds and rebooking to March 28, marking the end of the winter-spring travel season.

Those extensions came after China issued travel advisories in mid-November discouraging trips to Japan after remarks by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi regarding Taiwan.
