Lately got Co ask sign consent letter

Lately I got friends who ask me for advice as I am in HR about some conglomerates here, that use 3rd party reference organizations to check their applications.

I asked my contacts at an MNC bank operating here, they tell me they only check up to CCRIS and criminal past records using 3rd party reference organizations because it is financial institution requirement.

But some of these conglomerates go over the board, when they ask some applicants to sign consent letter to reveal practically EVERYTHING.

Meaning to allow AT ANY TIME, to do reference checks for medical records, insurance records, even court proceedings, criminal background checks. The letter says ALL disclosure.

Even allow 3rd party to call up all your past employers to check for disciplinary records, job scope, duration of work, interview your past supervisors.

So comprehensive never before come across this.

Isn't this INVASION OF PRIVACY ?

Should I advise my friends to reject it ?

THe worse thing is these companies only do reference background checks after my friends have joined the company, not before. So they are really taking a big risk, if the company has any issue with them after they join they could be out of work.

A couple of my friends applied for job at a MNC Bank and are asking me as I work in HR for a small firm but never heard of this verify intelligence.

they receive a consent letter from the bank asking them to allow a third party called verity to do reference background check.

They felt very uncomfortable as they think its a private investigator firm and it would throughly investigate their certs, CCRIS, insurance and even interview their past employers.

But here's the thing, the bank would only start to allow third party verity to do background check after they have joined.

Many of my friends have commitment like family and loans, they don't want to lose their jobs because of aggressive background checks and consent letter that is so powerful that it could cause them to lose their job at the MNC bank that they can't go back to their former jobs.

Have any of you heard of them ? How is their service ? too aggressive ?

some friends of mine are a little perturbed by employers using this co.
Is this co a private investigator co ? Why some employers use private investigator ?

Do you guys hear of this ?

How efficient in them doing employer and previous employer reference checks ? are they very aggressive ?
How far they go ? like interview your superior ? check for warning letter or discplinary records with HR ? or they just only check for industrial court disputes ?

THey also do criminal checks and CCRIS ? how far they go ? Some of my friends say some employers even go as far as check the insurance and medical records. COme on ! Is that going too far ?

SOme when sign off consent letter to allow this type of co, what should one do ? or just reject the offer because felt its an invasion of privacy ?

When I play youtube for kids to watch for eg cocomelon.

Suddenly not relevant advertisement come out like Japan tourism, Samseng/China HP, Jeans, Playstation advertisement come out.

Seriously not relevant for children.

I play the youtube then I go and do my own thing, while kids watch cocomelon.

So these ads really targeting wrong people.

Why Petronas job so many people apply ?

I apply to one Petronas subsidiary.

Woo....535 applicants

Then I directly apply to another Petronas co

Woo...840 applicants

No wonder so hard to get in.

Must be very good benefits.
