Current company or Father's company?

Hi Forum Lowyat. I've been around here for quite some time now and have been searching for a similar topic that fits into my situation, but sadly I have never found one. So I would like to ask you guys' opinion regarding my situation.

I am 25 years old this year and I am torn between sticking into my current job or working with my dad's company. I am currently working a job that is completely unrelated to my dad's company. The job is great and the benefits are good, however, the career development is very specific in its industry and would not fit into my dad's company.

My dad's company is a sub-con company having projects with the top companies in Malaysia however times are tough now.
My concern is I am afraid that I will never have the competency like my dad has and will never have the connection he does.

Eventually, I will be managing my dad's company and I wouldn't want my dad's effort to set up the company to go to waste. So my questions are;

a) Should I be changing my career immediately? If so, should I be focusing on the management or technical side?

b) Should I be working in a larger company that does the same thing as my dad's? (for more experience) Or just work with my dad? (Less experience since my dad's company is small)

c) What are the things that I really should know/have in running a sub-con company?

Other opinions/views are highly appreciated. I wanted to ask this question for years now. Thank you in advance.
