Bandar Utama MRT Station

UPDATE: The link to 1 Utama (Exit B) is opens today

Looks like the first section of the link from Bandar Utama MRT Station to 1 Utama is coming soon (via One World Hotel).

Can see from the first photo that a concrete building is being built directly just beside the station structure. Take note of the red-colored steel pillar located beside Sri Pentas (TV3). It looks like the first section will be an overhead bridge from the concrete building beside the station that will connect straight to One World Hotel, providing access to One World Hotel, IBM, KPMG & 1 Utama (via One World Hotel).

As for the concrete building, it seems to me that it will be part of the extension of 1 Utama Old Wing which is currently under construction along the LDP & MRT tracks. When completed, this will be the direct link from the MRT station into 1 Utama without having to walk through One World Hotel. In this case, I believe the idea is that the moment you step out from the MRT station, you will be already in 1 Utama.

However, this extension of 1 Utama is said to house some indoor theme park facilities, including an indoor sky diving facility from Australia.

[attachmentid=8955858]

[attachmentid=8955859]

1 Utama Promenade Construction

Many have asked about the direct link from SBK09 Bandar Utama MRT Station to 1 Utama.

There will be a direct link, probably will take about 6 months to a year.

As shown in attached picture, construction activities are actively ongoing outside 1 Utama (Promenade Zone). The construction is at what used to be called Promenade Outdoor where there used to be a seafood restaurant & the Water Piazza.

Based on the huge posters pasted inside the mall at the now hoarded up area beside McDonald's, there will be some outdoor activity attractions such as "Wicked Wave" & "Ferocious Flying" coming up at part of this area.

Logically speaking, I guess the walkway will be built from the MRT Station (Exit B) towards the area under construction (which is part of an expanded 1 Utama) and we can then access the existing building of the mall at the now-closed entrance between McDonald's & KFC. I'm not sure but there could possibly be another entrance beside the former Hokkaido Sushi restaurant lot (next to Elements by HomeFix) and possibly another next to the former Effective Herbs lot.

UPDATE from 1 Utama Facebook page
source: https://www.facebook.com/pg/1Utama/photos/?...154023956781689

QUOTE

WE'RE SORRY! Dear shoppers, first of all we sincerely apologize to have kept you waiting for this much-needed MRT information. Thanks for being so patient with us! For the past week till now, we have been toiling day and night together with MRT Corp to put in the finishing touches in order to make your trip to 1 Utama a much smoother one. Please bear with all of us as we continue ongoing works to make it happen. In this album, we have put together some photos and info that would be helpful for your MRT journey to the mall and back. Many of you have been asking us whether there are direct linkages from the BU MRT Station to 1 Utama. The short reply would be YES, we have planned for the linkages from the very beginning, but due to unforeseen circumstances these linkages are not available yet. Get ready for a rather lengthy explanation below - as we want to be as transparent as possible to explain to you what's going on and what you can use as transport options to commute to 1 Utama 1POWERHOUSE The BU MRT Station is currently linked to 1Powerhouse, a Transit-Oriented Development (T.O.D.) via an Elevated Pedestrian Walkway at Gate A. Public Service Facilities to complement the MRT Station, built and sponsored by Bandar Utama Development the developer of 1Powerhouse include: - MRT Feeder Bus terminus - Indoor Taxi lane - Indoor Car Passenger Dropoff Pickup - 500 Park & Ride car park bays - Skybridge across Persiaran Bandar Utama (March 2017) - Underground Tunnel Link from 1Powerhouse to 1 Utama where there will be an additional 13,000 car park bays (March 2017) Come March 2017, there will be an additional new Pedestrian Walkway built from the BU MRT Station (Gate B) to One World Hotel, which you can then walk over to 1 Utama. We have also started building direct links connecting the MRT Station to 1 Utama stores and hopefully this will be completed in 2018 together with lots of exciting new retail concepts! *NOTE: Due to the still outstanding and late approvals by the approving authorities and MRT, these linkages planned for 1 Utama have been delayed. However all parties are trying very hard to make it work for your convenience soon. SO FOR NOW HOW DO YOU GET TO 1 UTAMA? 1. From BU MRT Station - 1Powerhouse, take 1 Utama's free shuttle bus service from 8am-10.40pm daily which covers 1Powerhouse, KPMG/IBM and 1 Utama Highstreet Main Entrance. 2. From BU MRT Station - 1Powerhouse, take MRT Feeder Bus T812 which stops at 1 Utama Centre Court Entrance (Dataran Bandar Utama). 3. From Mutiara MRT Station, take MRT Feeder Bus T809 which stops at 1 Utama Highstreet Entrance (Central Park Avenue), 1 Utama Bus Terminal (Central Park Avenue), 1 Utama LDP. *Feeder bus frequency is around 10-15 mins operating from 5.30am to 11.30pm daily. Do refer to www.myrapid.com.my for feeder bus info. Please help us share this FB album with your friends, family, colleagues so that everyone is kept updated. We look forward to see you in 1 Utama soon! And please LIKE us on our Facebook page @1Utama!

If the underground fibre access is blocked due to any home or office renovation, it may require a longer installation period than for overhead fibre access installation.

For VDSL2, site assessment is much quicker since our technician need only access the building’s MDF room and perform the necessary cabling there.
Note: VDSL2 - your existing Streamyx or Business Broadband access will be disabled during this exercise.

Step 3: Installation

It's time to complete the installation process. As part of this process, some minimal drilling may be required. After laying the cables we will determine which modem is suitable for your home. Indoor installation requires more time as our technician needs to lay the internal fibre optic cable. Cables of sufficient length will be provided. However, in cases where additional cable lengths are required, some minimal charges will be incurred. To prevent unsightly wiring, wires and cables will be housed in proper casings.

However, if you wish it to be a drill-free installation, and if the fibre optic cables are required to be pulled through your home or office ceiling, we have a panel of contractors that you can work with, the costs of which will be borne by you.

VDSL2 does not require drilling since UniFi connection will come from the existing phone jack in your home or office. For this premise type, indoor installation requires minimal setup time.

Step 4: Equipment Setup

After laying all the cables, it’s time to connect the equipment. Our technician will first set up the BTU followed by Premise Gateway, Set-top-Box (for Residential package only) and DECT Phone. Once the equipment is tested and works properly, our technician will then show you that all the services are in working order.

Step 5: Completion

You are required to sign-off a Service Acceptance Form (SAF) as part of the process to complete the installation work. For a complete understanding of what TM UniFi service is, please read the terms and conditions in your service agreement.

The fibre of UniFi: http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/feature...fibre-of-unifi/
Getting Unified – A walkthrough: Internal concealed wiring will not be carried out by TM. However, customers can arrange their own or choose from TM’s authorised list of contractors at their own expense. TM shall propose the recommended list of contractor for the concealed wiring (wall or ceiling). As this is beyond the job scope of RNO, customer will deal and make payment directly to the contractor. Operationally, reappointment is to be arranged when the conceal wiring is completed. Customer is required to inform TM for installation appointment.
Premise currently under renovation
During installation day, TM will not proceed if the customer premise is under renovation unless insist by customer, TM will charge customer accordingly if request for other appointment time. Without the access to MDF/SDF room, installation cannot be performed and TM has to revisit which will incur unnecessary cost to customer.
In the case of copper wired building that uses VDSL2 technology, successful delivery of UniFi services is subject to technical testing. TM has the right to cancel the order should the building copper wire is deemed as not passing the technical test or not ready to deliver the service.

Requirements & Installation Guide
[YOUTUBESMALLWIDE]vgoA4o-zT-s[/YOUTUBESMALLWIDE] [YOUTUBESMALLWIDE]BkkLD3mEu88[/YOUTUBESMALLWIDE]

From making an appointment to the signing-off of the Service Acceptance Form, here is a complete step-by-step process of how we bring UniFi into your home or office.

Step 1: Appointment

Appointment is made at the point of registration. You may choose your preferred date and time for UniFi installation but please note that installation for FTTx (Fibre to the Home or Office) is expected to take between 4-8 hours, and for VDSL2, 2-3 hours.

24 hours prior to the agreed installation date and time, the TM UniFi Centre will call you for a final confirmation. Our UniFi technician will also call you just before he goes to the agreed address of installation.

Step 2: Site Assessment

Upon arrival at your home or office, our technician will brief you on the step-by-step process of the entire installation. This includes:

(i) Site assessessment (outdoor and indoor)
(ii) Cable entrance (drilling point for FTTx)
(iii) Equipment termination point
(iv) Route of wiring

In the case of FTTx installation, our technician will determine the location of the Fibre Distribution Point (FDP), whether it is located on an overhead pole, or underground.

Getting Unified – A walkthrough: http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/feature...-a-walkthrough/
The Unifi Installation – My Experience: http://www.shaolintiger.com/2010/12/29/the...-my-experience/

UniFi Set Up
[YOUTUBESMALLWIDE]mQJWV0jeQZc[/YOUTUBESMALLWIDE]

* Thanks to TM twitter for the tweets, links to the article, blog (ShaolinTiger) & video (TheXMagellan)

klseet website for information on TM UniFi
http://klseet.com/

rizvanrp website of the unofficial HSBB (UniFi) "handbook"
http://unifi.athena.my/

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

UPDATE 10th September 2011 : Added ASUS router reviews and updated router compatibility list!
UPDATE 27th January 2011 : Updated the site with details regarding the new 7.09 router firmware. Do drop me a PM if you have any updates for the list
UPDATE 31st October 2010 : Switched to lite UI due to security issues.
UPDATE 14th October 2010 : Added DIR-615 config.bin file format spec to the router password dumping guide.
UPDATE 10th October 2010 : Added router password dumping guide for the TM DIR-615 G1/G2 which is compatible with all firmware revisions as of now (7.05 + 7.05b). Current guides are not compatible with this new model AFAIK. Do not attempt to downgrade/reflash as the hardware revision change may indicate a different platform. Thanks to LYN-er IcEMoCHa for this information!
UPDATE 23rd August 2010 : Added the MikroTik RB250GS Unifi configuration guide. Fixed the iPod/iTouch/iPad w/ TM DIR-615 G1 bug!
UPDATE 9th August 2010 : Due to popular demand, I've added a DD-WRT firmware flashing and configuration guide for the TM DIR-615 G1 router.
UPDATE 28 July 2010 : Unifi/TM is sending out text messages to customers telling them that it is 'encouraged' to enable the remote management option for troubleshooting issues. This should only be enabled when you call in to perform troubleshooting and they request access to your router and immediately disabled after that. The router firmware itself is bugged and allows an attacker to download the configuration file off your router without using the correct username/password combination so it is recommended that you DO NOT enable this option.
UPDATE 19th June 2010 : Unifi network seems to be okay again. Massive network downtime from 4pm 18th June till about 1pm today due to some 'load balacing' issues (?). You will be responsible for providing TV and 4-socket extension cord to complete the installation. No installation appointment will be made for premises under renovation.

4. All triple play services (internet, voice and TV) must be activated during service installation. Partial service activation is not allowed.

5. UniFi is a wired broadband service. Wireless connectivity is an option and is subject to interference and obstructions factor.

6. UniFi account owner or authorised contact person must be available during the service installation. For high rise premises, owners are required to make arrangement with Building Management Office for installation permission, internal cabling and access to telecommunication room.

7. Installation fee includes external cable entrance up to the internal wiring with maximum of 15 metres for fiber cable, 15 meters for Ethernet/phone cables and 30 metres for casing (raceway). Additional charges will be applied for cable more than 15 metres and 30 metres casing (raceway) and charges will be included in your UniFi bill.

8. For other non-standard installation e.g. wiring above ceiling, underground and conceal wiring, you may appoint your own contractor or deal directly with TM appointed contractor. Payment will be made directly to the contractor.

9. Please provide correct and valid Billing Address / Postal Address. Select either paper bill or e-mail bill (please provide valid and preferred e-mail address). Bill is also accessible at myUniFi (https://occ.unifi.my). Internal concealed wiring will not be carried out by TM.
Customers who are having their home renovated are advised to inform TM prior setting service installation appointment. TM shall not be responsible for any damages resulted from construction and renovation done by customer through third party during or after the installation.
Customer Unreachable and Change of Appointment
Premise inaccessibility or deferment of installation appointment upon the installation team’s arrival at a customer’s premise will be subject to a charge of RM100. Re-appointment will be subject to time slot availability.
High-Rise VDSL & FTTH
For high-rise (condos, apartment, office building) ,TM would require to access the MDF/SDF room to physically activate the port which normally locked by the Building Management/Maintenance. Therefore, customers are required to communicate and make arrangement with your Building Management/Maintenance Office to ensure someone is available to grant the access to TM UniFi Installer to MDF/SDF room during the installation time.

Getting Unified – A walkthrough: http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/feature...-a-walkthrough/
The Unifi Installation – My Experience: http://www.shaolintiger.com/2010/12/29/the...-my-experience/

UniFi Set Up
[YOUTUBESMALLWIDE]mQJWV0jeQZc[/YOUTUBESMALLWIDE]

* Thanks to TM twitter for the tweets, links to the article, blog (ShaolinTiger) & video (TheXMagellan)

klseet website for information on TM UniFi
http://klseet.com/

rizvanrp website of the unofficial HSBB (UniFi) "handbook"
http://unifi.athena.my/

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

UPDATE 10th September 2011 : Added ASUS router reviews and updated router compatibility list!
UPDATE 27th January 2011 : Updated the site with details regarding the new 7.09 router firmware.

Three years after the Old Wing of 1 Utama underwent an extensive renovation after AEON handed over management of the Old Wing to Bandar Utama City (BUC), it looks like now the New Wing is being refurbished and will soon look alike the renovated Old Wing.

After all, the New Wing is 10 years old now and it's time for an upgrade. Some of the washrooms at the New Wing are already renovated, some being renovated as of now while the Oval concourse is currently undergoing renovation too! It looks like the renovations at the New Wing is done with very minimal impact to the operations of the mall, unlike what was done to the Old Wing previously.

SOS: Renovation at the Oval concourse.

HomePlug works on 3-phase supply

I have been using HomePlug AV (200Mbps) (Aztech HL-110EP) for a month at my apartment in Klang Valley due to the severe Wi-Fi interference I am facing there. It works well & superb for connecting my notebook computer & desktop to share my UniFi 10Mbps connection.

There has been many discussions about whether HomePlug works with 3-phase supply and today, I got it tested when I gone back to my kampung where my house here is on 3-phase supply. When a pair of HomePlugs were connected on the same phase, hence, the performance is optimum. However, when a pair of HomePlugs were connected to different phase, it still works good, with a slight degradation in performance.

However, as I am only using a Streamyx 4Mbps here at my kampung, the performance degradation can be ignored! It will only be a problem if you expect full performance when transferring files within the LAN, but it is definitely so much better than WiFi performance!

An updated firmware (download) relased in June 2013 also supports Maxis Fibre.

WAN/Internet Setup
Access the web-based configuration at 192.168.0.1, browse to Network > WAN page, select the appropriate mode (Normal/UniFi/Maxis). Normal mode can be used with TM Streamyx & most ISPs that do NOT use VLAN tagging. For connections using PPPoE (Streamyx, UniFi, Maxis) enter the PPPoE username & password, and select Connect Automatically for WAN Connection mode then click Save. For VDSL2 users (copper-based UniFi/Maxis), after saving the configuration, remember to click Advanced, then enter the value 30 for Detect Online Interval, then click save. Reboot and you are good to go.

Wireless
This wireless router works in both 2.4GHz & 5GHz band simultaneously, hence there is a separate configuration for each band, each using a different SSID. Remember to change the SSID and use a strong WPA/WPA2 network key to secure your network.

IPv6 Support
An updated firmware that supports IPv6 is available for the standard international market firmware, however, it does not support the VLAN tagging required for TM UniFi & Maxis Fibre at the moment. Hopefully, an updated firmware in the near future provides support for IPv6 with UniFi since TM has started allocating IPv6 addresses to both UniFi & Streamyx subscribers since September 2013.

Chinese Bus Drivers vs Malaysian Bus Drivers

I am currently in Nanning, Guangxi, China and have been relying on public buses to tour around the city. One thing I noticed about all the bus drivers here, they will only stop at designated bus stations to pickup and drop off passengers.

When I arrived on Saturday, I took a bus from the airport to the city. Some where in the city, a passenger asked the driver to drop him off but the driver refused and will only drop all of us at the designated terminal.

Today itself, I witnessed another case when an impatient passenger asked the driver twice to drop him off as the bus is waiting for the traffic lights to turn green when he should be getting down at the next stop just a short distance away from the junction. The bus driver told him off that it is dangerous to get down the bus at the junction and the next bus stop is just in front.

This is totally different from most if not all the bus drivers in Malaysia. Just look at the mostly Metrobus buses (and sometimes RapidKL too) stopping illegally at many locations, one of them right beside 1 Utama, at the slip road turning from Lebuh Bandar Utama into LDP heading towards Kepong! The action of these bus drivers picking up and dropping off passengers at the LDP slip road has resulted in severe traffic congestion especially when there is a heavy traffic coming out from 1 Utama and Lebuh Bandar Utama itself!

Will SPAD do something about this?
