25 year ol Iraqi refugee in Ampang murdered a girl

PETALING JAYA: A woman was killed during a scuffle between two foreign workers of an Arabic restaurant in Ampang, Selangor.

An Iraqi man fled the scene after he is believed to have killed a Somali woman with a knife along Jalan Memanda 2 around noon yesterday.

Police launched a hunt and arrested the 25-year-old suspect in Ampang Putra a few hours later, said Ampang Jaya district police chief Farouk Eshak.

“The man holds a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) card,” he said in a statement.

“We also seized a knife believed to have been used by the suspect in the incident,” Farouk said, adding that the suspect was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Police were also investigating the motive for the murder.

Elephant found dead in Pedu

PADANG TERAP: An elephant was found dead by the roadside in Kampung Pinang near the Pedu Dam this morning.

Villager Shazwan Ismail, 25, said the elephant was found by neighbours passing the area while heading to their rubber estate at about 7.30am.

"I saw the female elephant in a seated position and there were some blood stains in its faeces.

"Perhaps the elephant had consumed plants that had been sprayed with herbicide or fertiliser," he said.

Shazwan said villagers had spotted a group of seven elephants wandering in the rubber estates and did not discount the possibility that the dead female elephant belonged to the herd.

Meanwhile, state Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) director Jamalun Nasir Ibrahim said they were alerted to the discovery of the dead elephant at about 8.30am.

He said it was too early to establish the cause of death.

"A forensic team from our headquarters in Kuala Lumpur will be coming over to investigate the cause of death.

"We will wait for them to carry out the investigation first," he said when contacted.

In 2022, the new 3% tax on foreign source income just for bringing into Malaysia will take effect.
Do you think this will hurt SME businesses?

There is also even more because previously foreign sourced income is not taxed at all as long as the business keep it overseas.
But now even the business keep it overseas, you still need to pay tax on it. Won't this hurt SME business that owning some overseas properties and earning rental income?

I assume medium sized businesses will be even more likely to suffer big new tax impact from this.

Then there is also the new small item imported tax. Meaning even small things like some tiny electronics or lithium battery that you import that previously no tax will suddenly have to pay tax.
This will make the cost to do business go up because previously no such tax and many companies often buy lots of small imported things to keep the business running.
Simple example you buy lithium battery to keep the PCs all running properly. Now that will go up in price.
