UN LGBTIQ+ analysis tool, this is how useless UN is

Part of the requirement to satisfy the assessment wants businesses to fight the government of the country they are in.

UN should remove the IQ+ in LGBTIQ+ because they clearly lack the IQ.

QUOTE

About the UN LGBTIQ+ Standards Gap Analysis Tool

LGBTIQ+ rights are human rights
While significant progress has been made to further LGBTIQ+ inclusion, we still have a long way to go to achieve true equality. LGBTIQ+ people of all ages and in all regions of the world suffer from violations and abuse of their human rights. Unfortunately, nearly 70 countries still criminalize consensual same-sex relationships, few legally recognize the identity and protect the rights of transgender people, and even fewer protect intersex people from harm. Businesses have an important role to play and a responsibility to respect the human rights of LGBTIQ+ people in the workplace and beyond.

The UN LGBTIQ+ Standards Gap Analysis Tool aims to help companies do their part to counter these abuses and promote LGBTIQ+ inclusion in the workplace and beyond. Through showcasing good practices for advancing LGBTIQ+ equality around the world, providing an opportunity to measure progress over time, and leveraging resources for continuous improvement, the Tool helps businesses meet their human rights responsibilities and become active agents of change.

About the Tool

The UN LGBTIQ+ Standards Gap Analysis Tool (Tool) guides companies on their journey to implement the UN Standards of Conduct for Business in Tackling Discrimination against LGBTI People (or the "Standards"), which was published by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in 2017 and serves as the first internationally-accepted set of Standards on the private sector's role and responsibility to respect the rights of LGBTIQ+ communities in the workplace and beyond. The Tool is a free, user-friendly and strictly confidential online platform that helps companies assess current policies and programmes, highlight areas for improvement, and identify opportunities to set future corporate goals and targets. Furthermore, the Tool provides companies with a roadmap to better align their practices, policies and procedures with the UN Standards of Conduct.

https://lgbtiq.unglobalcompact.org/

The symptoms had become so serious recently that he dared not travel far during the day and could not sleep at night.

As a farmer, Chen did not want to delay his work and bought medicine in an attempt to treat the illness by himself.

Chen was diagnosed with a giant 10cm by 13cm stone in his bladder.

A scan revealed that the stone had almost occupied the whole bladder. It was reported to be the largest bladder stone in the Western Guangdong region.

The stone had also caused bilateral hydronephrosis, a condition where both kidneys swell from urine build-up and cause a severe urinary tract infection.

His doctor said that the stone had been pressuring the bladder wall and damaging his kidney function and could potentially lead to uraemia because had he not received treatment in time.

The medical team designed a surgery plan for him and eventually removed the stone from his bladder successfully. It weighed 1.3kg and was the size of two adult fists.

As the case was reported in May, Chen was said to have been recovering well.

Chen’s doctor did not reveal the reason behind his bladder stone, but according to urologist Wang Guangchun at the Shanghai Tenth People’s Hospital, the bladder stone is usually formed from the urine remaining in the bladder for a long time.

This could be caused by enlarged prostate, which happened more in ageing men, and bad life habits such as being sedentary, or consuming insufficient water.

Chen’s doctor also advised people to drink plenty of water, empty the bladder regularly and treat minor diseases such as enlarged prostate and urinary tract infections in time, to prevent bladder stones from forming.

Wang warned people with interrupted or painful urination to have a body check.

“His bladder stone looks larger than his bladder,” an online observer said.

“He must have very strong mental power to stand such a giant stone,” said another.

“When feeling uncomfortable it is necessary to go to the doctor immediately,” a third person said.

https://www.scmp.com/news/people-culture/tr...one-his-bladder

Dog shoots woman with shotgun.

Even dog learned how to use guns in America.

QUOTE

Scottsbluff police respond to gunfire at convenience store after dog accidentally shoots person with a shotgun

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNOP) - The Scottsbluff Police Department was called to a convenience store store on Saturday after a dog accidentally shot a person with a shotgun.

Officers were called to Short Stop at 2002 Avenue I after receiving a report that a person had been shot by a BB gun at 12:07 p.m. While on the way, they were informed that the incident involved a shotgun.

Upon arrival, officers found a truck with an attached camper. The passenger-side door panel of the vehicle had taken damage consistent with a shotgun blast.

According to Scottsbluff police, the owner of the truck had pulled into the convenience store. While the passenger was standing near the front passenger-side door, a dog in the back seat moved from one side of the vehicle to the other. The dog triggered a shotgun that had a live shell in the chamber, causing the firearm to discharge.

At the time of the gunfire, a woman was stopped at the traffic light on Avenue I with her arm resting out of the window. One pellet from the shotgun blast struck her in the upper right arm. Her injury was not believed to be life-threatening, and a family member transported her to Regional West Medical Center for treatment.

This matter remains under investigation by the Scottsbluff Police Department.

https://www.knopnews2.com/2026/05/24/scotts...n-with-shotgun/

Western weirdos harassing Jap manga artist.

What happened:
- western trans weirdos labelled her as non-binary. She clarified she is not, trans weirdos immediately accuse her of anti-trans and support anti-trans ideology.
- hired Japanese for stage play in Japan because it is hard to get black to play as some of the character, weirdos immediately accuse her of racist because she hire Japanese instead of black.
- shared meme videos of a fan re-creating a dance, get accused of racist again because the meme video use spring onion instead of dreadlocks that the character has.
- weirdos also repeatedly steal her work and claimed it as their own while recolour it to match their own head canon skin colour and making their own head canon claim about the character, then harass her when she correct them.

QUOTE

Gachiakuta Creator Kei Urana Deactivates Social Media: Everything We Know So Far

Kei Urana, the creator and author of the popular manga series Gachiakuta, recently made the decision to deactivate her official X (formerly Twitter) profile. She didn’t do it out of nowhere, as there was a whole controversy that led to this.

Constant pressure and intense hate from her own fan base ultimately caused her to remove her presence from the platform after she shared a video of a simple dance. Let’s dive into everything that we know, also detailing the past incidents.

Why Did Kei Urana Delete Her X/Twitter Profile?

Kei Urana shared a dance video of a specific character from her manga on her Instagram stories. The problem for some was that the dance was being performed by a person who wasn’t black, while the character he was copying was black. This prompted many X users to call her an outright racist.

The character in question is Jabber, who has locks in his hair as well. The dancer in the video used fake locks made out of vegetables, which made people question whether he was mocking their culture. Below is the Instagram reel that she shared:

Instagram

Urana attempted to defend her actions. She tried to explain her perspective and clarify that she meant no harm by sharing a cosplay video. However, her explanations were rejected by others, and the negative replies only multiplied rapidly.

She eventually tweeted expressing how this is getting in the way of her work, and bid her farewell to the platform itself. Urana’s tweet, which has now been deleted, along with her profile, read something like this (via @Alanin_8):

QUOTE

Alright, X chaos is on the rise, and I’ve decided it’s getting in the way of my creative work, so I hereby big farewell to X! Catch you somewhere else.

–Kei Urana (translated by Grok)

The harmless video that Kei Urana shared was immediately seen through the lens of racial politics. Since social media relies on fast outrage and extreme reactions, actual discussions are impossible, especially on Twitter/X, where there is a word limit to each post. On the other hand, fans of the manga on Reddit are showing appreciation for the fact that Kei Urana deleted her Twitter/X account.

We can see that the fans on Reddit are rather happy about this, as she will be able to focus more on her work rather than get into pointless arguments.

Kei Urana Has Had a Strained Relationship With Gachiakuta Fans in the Past

This recent event is not the first time Kei Urana has faced problems with her fans. The relationship between the author and her readers has been strained for a long time. Fans have repeatedly crossed boundaries and made false claims about her personal life.

A loud portion of the fandom began labeling her as non-binary online. They stated this as a fact across various social media platforms. Urana had to publicly address this rumor with surprise, and she never confirmed any claims.

Another significant clash occurred regarding the Gachiakuta stage play adaptation. When the cast for the stage play was announced, fans scrutinized the actors chosen to play the characters.

Similar to the recent incident, fans accused Urana of racism based on the casting decisions. The casting was full of Japanese actors; however, there are some characters in the manga that are clearly black. She also received a lot of criticism on Twitter for tweeting that she liked Helluva Boss.

https://fandomwire.com/gachiakuta-creator-k...we-know-so-far/

CEO fired entire HR, company problem disappeared

More company should do the same but include head hunter as well.

QUOTE

Bolt CEO says he let go of his entire HR team for creating problems that didn’t exist: ‘Those problems disappeared when I let them go’

For most executives, that’s a sentence likely to provoke intense anxiety. But for Bolt CEO Ryan Breslow, it was unavoidable.

Speaking at Fortune’s Workforce Innovation Summit on Tuesday, the 31-year-old defended sweeping workforce cuts at Bolt—including a recent layoff affecting roughly 30% of employees—as well as his decision to eliminate the company’s HR team.

“We had an HR team, and that HR team was creating problems that didn’t exist,” Breslow told Fortune editorial director Kristin Stoller. “Those problems disappeared when I let them go.”

The move may sound drastic, but Breslow said it was a necessary step to resurrect the struggling fintech company he first cofounded in 2014 in his Stanford dorm room.

After soaring to an $11 billion valuation in 2022, employing thousands of workers, Bolt’s fortunes reversed sharply. Breslow stepped down as CEO the same year, and by 2024, the company’s valuation had reportedly fallen to roughly $300 million—a decline of nearly 97%—while multiple rounds of layoffs dramatically reduced its headcount. Breslow attributed the downturn to poor decision-making and overspending.

Breslow returned as CEO in 2025, operating in what he calls “wartime.”

“We’re back in startup mode again, and those HR professionals have really important insights when you’re in a peacetime and when you’re at a larger company,” he said, adding that Bolt has since brought on a smaller people operations team to oversee required training and serve as a resource for employees.

While Breslow didn’t get into the specifics of the exact differences, he wrote on LinkedIn last year that, “HR is the wrong energy, format, and approach. People ops empowers managers, streamlines decision making, and keeps the company moving at lightning speed.”

“We need a group of people who are very oriented around getting things done, and there is just a culture of not getting things done and complaining a lot,” he added at the Fortune conference.

In recent months, Bolt has been plagued by rumors that it was taking back employees’ paychecks and that some contractors went unpaid. In his conversation with Fortune on Tuesday, Breslow denied that Bolt withheld funds from the staff.

Bolt employees developed a sense of ‘entitlement’ and weren’t working hard—so he let most of them go

Beyond HR, Breslow said Bolt had fallen into a broader productivity slump, with employees growing too comfortable during the company’s boom years.

“There’s a sense of entitlement that had festered across the company, and people who felt empowered, felt entitled— but weren’t actually working hard. And this is the number one thing that I had to battle,” Breslo said. “Ultimately, most of those people just had to be let go.”

When he returned as CEO, he said he gave employees who had been hired under the prior leadership structure 60 days to adapt to a leaner, startup-style culture. But the result was that “99%” couldn’t adapt, and Breslow eventually got rid of nearly the entire leadership team and started from scratch.

“They had gotten used to working at a company where they didn’t have to get their hands dirty, and could spend a lot of money, and we just didn’t have that money to spend anymore, and we didn’t have that luxury,” he said.

The shift, he added, required abandoning some of the leadership ideals he had previously embraced. This included eliminating four-day workweeks and unlimited PTO.

“As someone who was a pioneer of conscious leadership,” he said. “I had to bring a company back to a very gritty place.”

Now, Breslow argued that the strategy is paying off.

Bolt currently markets itself as the “One SuperApp to rule them all”—a one-stop shop for sending money, earning rewards, and trading cryptocurrency—and has slimmed down to roughly 100 employees. According to Breslow, the company is succeeding without what he described as “big credentialed, pedigreed professionals.”

“We have a team a quarter of the size, who are much more junior, who work a lot harder, who have better energy,” he said. “And our customers are telling us, ‘We haven’t had this type of attention in four years.’”

https://fortune.com/2026/05/19/bolt-ceo-rya...up-turn-around/

Nintendo try to patent troll again Pt.4

Nintendo really trying everything to sabotage Palworld.

First they retroactively patent creature capturing.

Then they patent mount riding.

Then they try to patent summoning.

Now they try to patent creature capture again on mobile device after Palworld Mobile announcement.

Nintendo really would do anything except improving their games.

QUOTE

Nintendo denied touchscreen-specific patent as the legal battle against Palworld developer Pocketpair continues

That Nintendo has been battling Palworld developer Pocketpair over "Pokémon-style monster capture and throwing mechanics" for a while now isn't a secret. The results (so far) aren't what the Japanese platform holder would have hoped for, however. Over the past few days, Nintendo has been dealt another blow after trying to obtain a touchscreen-specific patent.

Last month, we learned the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) had rejected Nintendo's patent for summoning characters and having them fight after IP lawyers criticised it in the year leading up to the judgement. More recently - as examined by Games Fray - the entertainment giant made moves to obtain a touchscreen-specific patent, seemingly targeting games such as Palworld Mobile or Roco Kingdom: World.

The new, now-rejected patent is application no. 2026-019762, a divisional of the previous one that focuses on monster-catching mechanics, but this specific application targets touchscreen devices instead.
Sweden drops the use of the word Islamophobia.

In other word, it is not a phobia if there is a legitimate reason.

QUOTE

Sweden Drops Use of the Term "Islamophobia"

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Maria Malmer Stenergard, Sweden's Minister for Foreign Affairs, announced before parliamentary representatives that the government will no longer use the term "Islamophobia." She described the concept as "problematic," because, according to her, "it focuses on individuals' irrational fears."

Stenergard emphasized that the Swedish government will also seek to replace the term with "anti-Muslim racism" or "anti-Muslim hatred" in international bodies, including the European Union and the United Nations. Discussions on this matter are set to continue during the third week of May in Brussels.

The decision has been welcomed by the right-wing Sweden Democrats party. Charlie Weimers, a member of the European Parliament for the party, said, "Islamists have exploited the term Islamophobia to advance their agenda and secure EU funding." He described the government's action as "finally scrapping a fabricated concept."

Faw Azzat, Secretary General of the Global Alliance for Peace and Justice (GAPF) in Sweden, also praised the decision, stating that the term Islamophobia was "coined by Islamists themselves to equate criticism of a religion with racism against people—a semantic trick dressed up as anti-racism."

This comes despite various reports indicating that Islamophobia not only exists in Sweden and Europe but is also following a worrying upward trend.

A 2025 academic study shows that deeply rooted Islamophobia exists within Swedish structures. Political and media narratives frequently frame Muslims as "undesirable others," and this situation has cast serious doubt on Sweden's commitment to inclusion and non-discrimination.

At the European level, the 2025 annual report of the Coalition to Counter Islamophobia in Europe (CCIE) reported the "normalization of hatred against Muslims," emphasizing that discriminatory discourses have gained greater influence in political, media, and institutional arenas. According to the report, 876 cases of Islamophobia were recorded in Europe in 2025, 85 percent of which were in France. Eighty percent of the victims were women, and in 41 percent of cases, discrimination was due to wearing the hijab.

Similar cases have been reported in Germany, Spain, Austria, and Belgium. Additionally, a report by the International Network Against Online Hate (INACH) indicates that migration and Islamophobia are among the dominant discourses in online hate content in Europe.

In summary, international bodies and members of the European Parliament have issued serious warnings about the normalization and institutionalization of Islamophobia and its transformation into a dominant trend in Europe, while security agencies have also confirmed the terrorist threat posed by far-right extremists on the one hand.

https://en.abna24.com/news/1808183/Sweden-D...rm-Islamophobia

Oil tanker hijacked off Yemen coast to Somalia

QUOTE

Yemen reports hijacked oil tanker headed for Somalia

Yemen’s Coast Guard has said that it is attempting to recover an oil tanker that was hijacked off the coast and is now heading towards Somalia.

The “M/T Eureka” was seized off Yemen’s southeastern Shabwa province as armed assailants boarded and took control of the vessel, the coastguard said in a statement on Saturday. The hijackers then steered the tanker to the Gulf of Aden towards the Somali coast.

The attack is at least the fourth to take place near Somalia in recent weeks, with pirate activity in the area on the rise in an apparent reaction to the war in Iran. Officials say pirates have become emboldened as naval forces patrolling the Red Sea area are distracted by the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and civilian maritime routes diverted.

The coastguard said that it was working with international partners and relevant authorities in the Gulf of Aden to recover the tanker and ensure the safety of the crew, whose fate remains unknown.

It cautioned, however, that its capabilities are limited due to Yemen’s dire economic situation.

‘Window of opportunity’
Ship hijackings off the Somali coast have become more frequent since the US and Israel began their war on Iran in February.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has raised the piracy threat level along the Somali coast to “substantial” and warned vessels to “transit with caution”.

The European Union’s naval forces patrolling the region said that the Iran war has given piracy groups a “window of opportunity”.

A tanker carrying about 18,000 barrels of oil was hijacked near the Somali coast on April 21. Within the following five days, two more vessels were seized.

Somalia’s coastline was the world’s worst region for piracy from the early to mid-2000s. The World Bank estimated that at its peak, piracy was costing the global economy as much as $18bn a year.

More than 200 attacks were recorded in 2011 alone, according to EU naval force data.

An international naval coalition eventually suppressed the threat, reducing attacks to nearly zero by 2014.

However, incidents began to rise again in 2023, which some analysts attribute to anti-piracy patrols being redirected to the Red Sea to counter threats from Houthi forces targeting ships in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. The Houthis said their attacks were a response to the persecution of Palestinians.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/5/2/yem...ded-for-somalia

UK under severe terror threat after terror attack

Also, apa lancau extreme right wing terrorism? This is a problem created by extreme left wing that refuse to control and charge criminals.

Sadly, all the publications, statistics and research institute will happily classify this as right wing violence and then happily condemn right wing as party of violence few years from now even when it is the left wing that is causing the problem.

QUOTE

Threat level increase following antisemitic terror attack

National Threat Level increased to SEVERE following Golders Green attack and increasing threat of Islamist and Extreme Right Wing terrorism in the UK.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) has today (30 April 2026) raised the UK National Threat Level from SUBSTANTIAL, meaning an attack is likely, to SEVERE, meaning an attack is highly likely in the next six months.

The increase in threat comes following yesterday’s stabbing in Golders Green in North London, but it is not solely a result of that attack. The terrorist threat level in the UK has been rising for some time, driven by an increase in the broader Islamist and Extreme Right Wing terrorist threat from individuals and small groups based in the UK.

While the UK National Threat Level set independently by JTAC reflects the terrorist threat in the UK, it comes against a backdrop of increased state-linked physical threats which is encouraging acts of violence, including against the Jewish community.

This is an independent, systematic, and rigorous process, based on the very latest intelligence and analysis of internal and external factors which drive the threat.

Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, said:

Yesterday’s abhorrent, antisemitic attack was a vile act of terrorism.

My thoughts today remain with the victims, and with the whole Jewish community at a time of deep disquiet and fear.

My deepest thanks go to the volunteers and emergency services, a number of whom I met today. Their actions saved lives and they are, and forever will be, heroes.

Today, the national threat level has increased to “severe”, which means a terrorist attack is considered highly likely.

I know this will be a source of concern to many, particularly amongst our Jewish community, who have suffered so much.

The Government has today announced a significant increase in investment to protect our Jewish communities, with record funding for policing and security at synagogues, schools and community centres. And we will do everything in our power to rid society of the evil of antisemitism.

As the threat level rises, I urge everyone to be vigilant as they go about their daily lives, and report any concerns they have to the police.

And I can assure everyone that our world-class security services and the police are working day and night to keep our country safe.

The UK was last at SEVERE in November 2021, following the Liverpool Women’s Hospital bombing and murder of Sir David Amess, before being lowered to SUBSTANTIAL in February 2022.

In light of yesterday’s attack and a spate of vile antisemitic arson attacks in London, the Government is investing an additional £25 million funding to protect Jewish communities against horrific antisemitic attacks.

This brings the total funding to £58 million this year – the largest investment a government has made in protecting Jewish communities in history. This funding will go towards increasing police presence and patrols in communities, as well as added protective security in synagogues, schools, and community centres.

It will also be invested into the expansion of Project Servator, putting specialist and plain-clothes officers in the community who are trained to spot suspicious activity and identify individuals preparing to commit serious crimes.

Legislation will also be fast tracked in the coming weeks to clamp down on individuals and groups carrying out hostile activity for foreign states, including those who act as their proxies.

The Home Secretary will be given new proscription-like powers to ban the activities of state-backed organisations who pose a threat to the UK’s national security. It will give police and intelligence agencies stronger tools under the National Security Act to disrupt the activities of anyone acting on behalf of state-backed organisations.

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/threat-l...c-terror-attack

QUOTE

Golders Green terror attack suspect was known to police before two stabbed in rampage

The man suspected of stabbing two men in Golders Green was previously referred to the Government's counter-extremism Prevent programme.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the 45-year-old suspect had been referred to Prevent in 2020 and that the case was closed the same year. "Given the investigation remains ongoing, we will not be providing any further information in respect of this matter at this time and we remain focused on securing justice for the victims of this attack," the force added.

Prevent is a multi-agency programme that forms a key part of the UK’s counter-terrorism strategy. It places a legal duty on public bodies to identify and support individuals who may be drawn into extremism. When someone is assessed as being at risk, they may be referred to the Channel programme, which provides tailored support from experts who understand extremist ideology.

Two Jewish men - 34-year-old Shloime Rand and 76-year-old Moshe Shine - were taken to hospital after being stabbed in north London late on Wednesday morning in an attack police have declared a terrorist incident.

The suspect, described by police as a British national born in Somalia, was Tasered and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder shortly after the incident. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the man came to the UK "lawfully as a child" in the 1990s.

The Metropolitan Police said detectives are also investigating a separate incident in south-east London that was reported several hours before the attack in Golders Green. Police were called to an address in Great Dover Street, in the Borough area of Southwark, at around 8.50am on Wednesday.

"The suspect who is reported to have been armed with a knife, is believed to have had an altercation with the occupant before leaving. The occupant received minor injuries and police arrived within around six minutes of being called," the force said. "It is believed that the suspect in this incident is the same individual arrested in Golders Green."

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams and Barnet Council Chief Executive Cath Shaw said in a joint statement that a "significant number of officers" would be deployed in the south-east London area to support the investigation.

"This gives police officers temporary powers to stop and search people in the area without needing specific suspicion, where there is a risk of serious violence," the statement said. "This is a preventative measure designed to deter further criminality. We were already deploying an increased number of counter-terrorism response vehicles to respond to suspicious activity."

They added there would be an "increased policing presence in and around schools, transport hubs, high footfall areas and faith venues".

Speaking at a roundtable on Thursday, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said the criminal justice response to the attack must be "swift, agile and visible", shortly after extra funding was announced to increase security for Jewish communities.

A further £25 million will be invested to boost police patrols and protections around synagogues, schools and community centres, taking the total commitment this year to £58 million.

Legislation creating proscription-like powers to pursue people and organisations acting on behalf of malign state-sponsored groups will also be "fast-tracked" in the coming weeks, ministers saId.

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/golde...uspect-37092198

Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) caught for fraud, money laundering and conspiracy.

SPLC caught funding extremist group like KKK and Neo-Nazi group through shell companies and entities to generate more extremism so they can capitalize on it.

Reason? Their donation increase every time a racial riot happens.

Another case of the demand for racism far exceeds the supply.

QUOTE

Federal Grand Jury Charges Southern Poverty Law Center for Wire Fraud, False Statements, and Conspiracy to Commit Money Laundering

Between 2014 and 2023, the SPLC secretly funneled more than $3 million in donated funds to individuals who were associated with various violent extremist groups including the Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Nations, and National Socialist Party of America

A Grand Jury in Montgomery, Alabama, today returned an indictment charging the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) with 11 counts of wire fraud, false statements to a federally insured bank, and conspiracy to commit concealment money laundering. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Alabama Northern Division filed two forfeiture actions to recover alleged proceeds of the organization’s fraud scheme. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigated this case with assistance from the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI).

“The SPLC is manufacturing racism to justify its existence,” said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. “Using donor money to allegedly profit off Klansmen cannot go unchecked. This Department of Justice will hold the SPLC and every other fraudulent organization operating with the same deceptive playbook accountable. No entity is above the law.”

“The SPLC allegedly engaged in a massive fraud operation to deceive their donors, enrich themselves, and hide their deceptive operations from the public," said FBI Director Kash Patel. "They lied to their donors, vowing to dismantle violent extremist groups, and actually turned around and paid the leaders of these very extremist groups - even utilizing the funds to have these groups facilitate the commission of state and federal crimes. That is illegal – and this is an ongoing investigation against all individuals involved.”

The SPLC is a non-profit organization headquartered in Montgomery, Alabama, whose mission, according to its website during the relevant time period, was to be a “catalyst for racial justice in the South and beyond, working in partnership with communities to dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements, and advance the human rights of all people.”

According to the indictment starting in the 1980s, the SPLC began operating a covert network of individuals who were either associated with violent and extremist groups, such as the Ku Klux Klan, or who had infiltrated violent extremist groups at the SPLC’s direction. Unbeknownst to donors, some of their donated money was being used to fund the leaders and organizers of racist groups at the same time that the SPLC was denouncing the same groups on its website.

“Donors gave their money believing they were supporting the fight against violent extremism,” said Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson. “As alleged, the SPLC instead diverted a portion of those funds to benefit individuals and groups they claimed to oppose. That kind of deception undermines public trust and social cohesion.”

Between 2014 and 2023, the SPLC secretly funneled more than $3 million in donated funds to individuals who were associated with various violent extremist groups including:

Ku Klux Klan
United Klans of America
Unite the Right
National Alliance
National Socialist Movement
Aryan Nations affiliated Sadistic Souls Motorcycle Club
National Socialist Party of America (American Nazi Party)
American Front

According to the indictment, the objective of the scheme and artifice was to obtain money via donations through materially false representations and omissions about what the donated funds would be used for.

In order to covertly pay the individuals, the SPLC opened bank accounts connected to a series of fictitious entities. The covert nature of the accounts allowed the SPLC to disguise the true nature, source, ownership, and control of the fraudulently obtained donated money the SPLC paid the individuals. In order to keep the scheme going, the SPLC made a series of false statements related to the operation of the accounts.

A conviction will result in the forfeiture of financial gains from the alleged illegal activities.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel made the announcement in Washington.

The details contained in the civil forfeiture complaint are allegations only.

https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/federal-gran...-statements-and

Video Transcript
We're here today to announce what the [acting Attorney] General just told you. The Southern Poverty Law Center, in a massive, sweeping indictment, has been charged with allegations of fraud and using the banking system to perpetrate that fraud. I just want to talk about a couple of brief things here. The Southern Poverty Law Center themselves advertise to raise money to dismantle violent extremist groups for a period of at least a decade.

They used their donor network to raise money to purportedly dismantle violent extremist groups. However, the SPLC, the Southern Poverty Law Center, used the money they raised raised from their donor network to actually pay the leadership of these very groups. I just want to say that, again, they used the fraudulently raised money by lying to their donor network, thousands of Americans, to go ahead and actually pay the leadership of these supposedly violent extremist groups.

The groups, as the General laid out, include the Ku Klux Klan, the United Klans of America, Unite the Right, National Alliance, the National Socialist Movement, the Aryan Nation Motorcycle Club, and the National Socialist Party of America, and also the American Front. In at least one of these matters, our investigation revealed that funds were used to facilitate the commission of further state and federal offenses totaling over $3 million.

Furthermore, our investigation revealed that the Southern Poverty Law Center, on top of perpetuating this widespread, decade-long multi-million dollar fraud, conducted more criminal activity. They attempted to hide their criminal activity from our financial banking network. They set up shell companies and entities around America so that the financial institutions that we rely on as everyday Americans were deceived in believing that money was not coming from the Southern Poverty Law Center and the perpetration of this scheme and fraud, but rather fictitious entities they stood up to perpetuate this ongoing fraud.

This is a serious and egregious violation of a group that purported to dismantle violent extremist groups, but in turn actually only fueled the hatred. This is an important case brought by the President, by President Trump's administration. We're thankful to the President for his leadership and funding of not just the FBI and DOJ, but his commitment to go out there and wipe out fraud and conspiracy and waste and abuse wherever it occurs, including the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Even though this money was made to appear to be coming from legitimate people and legitimate entities, we at the FBI, with our great partners at the Department of Justice and in the state of Alabama, were able to comb through a decade worth of material, a scheme that took a decade to build so that we were able to follow the money, because money never lies, and they got caught.

As the Attorney General said, these charges are varying, they are widespread and wide ranging, and this investigation is very much ongoing. Today, we're here to announce the charges of the Southern Poverty Law Center. And this investigation, and the individuals who are responsible will be brought to justice. Thank you General.

https://www.fbi.gov/video-repository/patel-...042126.mp4/view

Yakuza convicted for selling plutonium to Iran

QUOTE

US court convicts Japanese yakuza for trafficking nuclear material

New York - A member of Japan’s yakuza crime group was sentenced to 20 years in prison by a New York court on March 3 after being convicted of trafficking nuclear material as well as drugs and weapons.

Takeshi Ebisawa, 61, has been jailed since April 2022 on the drug and weapons charges, along with his Thai co-defendant Somphop Singhasiri, following years of investigations by the US Drug Enforcement Administration.

In February 2024, he was also accused of trying to sell military-grade nuclear material, along with narcotics including heroin and methamphetamine, to buy weapons including surface-to-air missiles for armed groups in Myanmar.

He pleaded guilty to a total of six charges in January 2025.

“Takeshi Ebisawa has been held accountable for his crimes, including an attempt to sell weapons-grade plutonium to Iran and to flood New York with deadly narcotics,” said Mr John Eisenberg, the assistant attorney general for national security. AFP

https://www.straitstimes.com/world/united-s...uclear-material

QUOTE

Japanese Yakuza Leader Pleads Guilty To Nuclear Materials Trafficking, Narcotics, And Weapons Charges

Edward Y. Kim, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York; Matthew G. Olsen, the Assistant Attorney General for National Security; and Anne Milgram, the Administrator of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (“DEA”), announced today that TAKESHI EBISAWA pled guilty in Manhattan federal court to conspiring to traffic nuclear materials, including uranium and weapons-grade plutonium, from Burma to other countries, as well as to international narcotics trafficking and weapons charges. EBISAWA pled guilty today before U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon.

Acting U.S. Attorney Edward Y. Kim said: “As he admitted in federal court today, Takeshi Ebisawa brazenly trafficked nuclear material, including weapons-grade plutonium, out of Burma. At the same time, he worked to send massive quantities of heroin and methamphetamine to the United States in exchange for heavy-duty weaponry such as surface-to-air missiles to be used on battlefields in Burma and laundered what he believed to be drug money. It is thanks to the extraordinary efforts of the DEA’s Special Operations Division, the career national security prosecutors of this Office, and the cooperation of our law enforcement partners in Indonesia, Japan, and Thailand, that Ebisawa’s plot was detected and stopped.”

Assistant Attorney General Matthew G. Olsen said: “Today’s plea should serve as a stark reminder to those who imperil our national security by trafficking weapons-grade plutonium and other dangerous materials on behalf of organized criminal syndicates that the Department of Justice will hold you accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”

DEA Administrator Anne Milgram said: “This case demonstrates DEA’s unparalleled ability to dismantle the world’s most dangerous criminal networks. Our investigation into Takeshi Ebisawa and his associates exposed the shocking depths of international organized crime from trafficking nuclear materials to fueling the narcotics trade and arming violent insurgents. DEA remains positioned to relentlessly pursue anyone who threatens our national security, regardless of where they operate. Protecting the American people from such evil will always remain DEA’s top priority.”

According to the allegations contained in the Complaint, the Superseding Indictment, and other information in the public record:

Since at least in or about 2019, the DEA investigated EBISAWA in connection with large-scale narcotics and weapons trafficking. During the investigation, EBISAWA unwittingly introduced an undercover DEA agent (“UC-1”), posing as a narcotics and weapons trafficker, to EBISAWA’s international network of criminal associates, which spanned Japan, Thailand, Burma, Sri Lanka, and the U.S., among other places, for the purpose of arranging large-scale narcotics and weapons transactions. EBISAWA and his network, including his co-defendants, negotiated multiple narcotics and weapons transactions with UC-1.

EBISAWA conspired to broker the purchase, from UC-1, of U.S.-made surface-to-air missiles, as well as other heavy-duty weaponry, intended for multiple ethnic armed groups in Burma (including the leader of an ethnic insurgent group in Burma (“CC-1”)), and to accept large quantities of heroin and methamphetamine for distribution as partial payment for the weapons. EBISAWA understood the weapons to have been manufactured in the U.S. and taken from U.S. military bases in Afghanistan. EBISAWA planned for the heroin and methamphetamine to be distributed in the New York market.

In addition, EBISAWA conspired to sell, in a separate transaction, 500 kilograms of methamphetamine and 500 kilograms of heroin to UC-1 for distribution in New York. In furtherance of that transaction, on or about June 16, 2021, and on or about September 27, 2021, one of EBISAWA’s co-defendants provided samples of approximately one kilogram of methamphetamine and approximately 1.4 kilograms of heroin. EBISAWA also worked to launder $100,000 in purported narcotics proceeds from the U.S. to Japan.

Finally, beginning in early 2020, EBISAWA informed UC-1 and a DEA confidential source (“CS-1”) that EBISAWA had access to a large quantity of nuclear materials that he wanted to sell. Later that year, EBISAWA sent UC-1 a series of photographs depicting rocky substances with Geiger counters measuring radiation, as well as pages of what EBISAWA represented to be lab analyses indicating the presence of thorium and uranium in the depicted substances. In response to EBISAWA’s repeated inquiries, UC-1 agreed, as part of the DEA’s investigation, to help EBISAWA broker the sale of his nuclear materials to UC-1’s associate, who was posing as an Iranian general (the “General”), for use in a nuclear weapons program. EBISAWA then offered to supply the General with “plutonium” that would be even “better” and more “powerful” than uranium for this purpose. EBISAWA further proposed, together with two other co-conspirators (“CC-2” and “CC-3”), to UC-1 that CC-1 sell uranium to the General, through EBISAWA, to fund CC-1’s weapons purchase.

Thereafter, on a February 4, 2022, videoconference, CC-2 told UC-1 that CC-1 had available more than 2,000 kilograms of Thorium-232 and more than 100 kilograms of uranium in the compound U3O8 — referring to a compound of uranium commonly found in the uranium concentrate powder known as “yellowcake” — and that CC-1 could produce as much as five tons of nuclear materials in Burma. CC-2 also advised that CC-1 had provided samples of the uranium and thorium, which CC-2 was prepared to show to UC-1’s purported buyers. CC-2 noted that the samples should be packed “to contain . . . the radiation.” Approximately one week later, EBISAWA, CC-2, and CC-3 participated in a series of meetings with UC-1 and CS-1 in Southeast Asia, to discuss their ongoing weapons, narcotics, and nuclear materials transactions. During one of these meetings, CC-2 asked UC-1 to meet in CC-2’s hotel room. Inside the room, CC-2 showed UC-1 two plastic containers each holding a powdery yellow substance (the “Nuclear Samples”), which CC-2 described as “yellowcake.” CC-2 advised that one container held a sample of uranium in the compound U3O8, and the other container held Thorium-232.

With the assistance of Thai authorities, the Nuclear Samples were seized and subsequently transferred to the custody of U.S. law enforcement. A nuclear forensic laboratory in the U.S. examined the Nuclear Samples and determined that both samples contain detectable quantities of uranium, thorium, and plutonium. In particular, the laboratory determined that the isotope composition of the plutonium found in the Nuclear Samples is weapons-grade, meaning that the plutonium, if produced in sufficient quantities, would be suitable for use in a nuclear weapon.

EBISAWA, 60, of Japan, pled guilty to six counts contained in the Superseding Indictment. A table containing the charges and minimum and maximum penalties is set forth below.

(Refer link for table)

The minimum and maximum potential sentences in this case are prescribed by Congress and are provided here for informational purposes only, as any sentencing will be determined by the judge.

Mr. Kim praised the outstanding efforts of the DEA’s Special Operations Division Bilateral Investigations Unit. Mr. Kim also thanked the DEA Tokyo Country Office, DEA Bangkok Country Office, DEA Chiang Mai Resident Office, DEA Jakarta Country Office, DEA Copenhagen Country Office, DEA New York Field Office, DEA New Delhi Country Office, the Counterterrorism Section of the Department of Justice’s National Security Division, the Office of International Affairs of the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, and our law enforcement partners in Indonesia, Japan, and the Kingdom of Thailand for their assistance.

This prosecution is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (“OCDETF”) operation. OCDETF identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level criminal organizations that threaten the U.S. using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach. Additional information about the OCDETF Program can be found at https://www.justice.gov/OCDETF.

The case is being handled by the Office’s National Security and International Narcotics Unit. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kaylan E. Lasky, Alexander Li, and Kevin T. Sullivan are in charge of the prosecution, with assistance from Trial Attorney Dmitriy Slavin of the Counterterrorism Section.

https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/japane...g-narcotics-and

Bloodborne and Elden Ring movie in making

Best part is, for Bloodborne movie, it will be in 24 FPS like the game, so there is still no way to enjoy Bloodborne in 60 FPS and there will be no sequel.

QUOTE

An Animated ‘Bloodborne’ Movie Is Coming From Sony And A YouTuber

Every time fans see Bloodborne show up in a news item, there is immediate excitement that there could be word about a remaster or sequel. Today, unsurprisingly, that’s not what’s happened; instead, this announcement is something few saw coming: a Bloodborne animated movie.

The news is out of Sony’s presentation at CinemaCon, where it’s been revealed that Sony Pictures and PlayStation productions are making an R-rated animated movie in partnership with a YouTuber, Seán “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin, who has 31 million subscribers.

The involvement of a YouTuber is a bit eyebrow-raising, but McLoughlin is something of a Bloodborne superfan, so it’s not as random as it seems. He posted this in the Bloodborne subreddit after the announcement:

QUOTE

“I am producing this project and you have no idea how incredibly excited I am to finally be able to talk about it!! I am going to do everything in my power to make this the BEST Bloodborne adaptation possible. Not only is it my favourite game ever made but I know how truly passionate the fans of this game are and how much hunger they have for more of it. I can’t share much about the project right now but man does it feel good to let you all know it’s happening!”

The reaction of that community was a mix of excitement about the announcement, but certainly some skepticism about McLoughlin’s involvement, given that he’s not an industry figure. But again, McLoughlin is a producer, and as far as we know, not the director, writer or an actor in the film.

It’s funny to watch the immediate hope turn to a remaster/remake/sequel/60 fps patch to go along with this release, but there has obviously been nothing like that announced, and this odd tug of war between Sony and FromSoftware may continue indefinitely, hence no movement on anything in the Bloodborne realm…ever. Now, when there is news, it’s an animated movie.

It’s unknown whether this will see a full theatrical release like the Spider-Verse movies or be sold to a streaming service, as Sony did with KPop Demon Hunters (which, in hindsight, was probably not the right call). But mentioning those two films, it should be noted that the Bloodborne movie is not being animated by Sony Pictures Animation, but rather by Lyrical Animation, a subsidiary of a larger production company behind films like Bruiser and How to Blow Up a Pipeline. Its animation division has apparently not released any films yet, but is reportedly working on a Death Stranding movie with Kojima Productions.

There are many question marks here, and I certainly understand a lot of the skepticism. I’m more curious about the seemingly untested animation studio than I am Jacksepticeye’s involvement as a producer, but we’ll have to see how it looks in action.

https://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/animated-blo...-130254193.html

QUOTE

The Elden Ring Movie Is Happening, And The Perfect Person Is Making It

Ever since it was announced in May 2025, the Elden Ring movie has been eagerly awaited by fans of the video game. Written by George R.R. Martin and FromSoftware game developer Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game put players in a world ruled by demigods whose war for dominance destroys the one artifact holding the land in balance. On April 6, 2026, news leaked that the movie Elden Ring has begun filming.

This happened because a random group of social media users stumbled over a set piece in England that features iconic imagery from the game. The setting itself is reminiscent of the game’s dark fantasy setting, but it also features a statue of Queen Marika, who is a major game character responsible for breaking the titular Elden Ring and causing chaos in the Land Between. The online influencers shared a video of the set online, once again igniting enthusiasm from the game’s fans.

Alex Garland Leading The Charge

The incredible game was written by a fantasy legend and a renowned game creator, and the script was written by another game writer, Alex Garland. While most people know him for Annihilation and the controversial Civil War, Garland is also credited as the writer of the popular video game title Devil May Cry and three of its sequels and re-masters. Garland’s skill as a director are proven by his movies, but he has written two novels, The Tesseract and The Beach, as well as several major screenplays beyond those he directed, including Sunshine, Dredd, 28 Years Later, and 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.

It also helps that Garland is a real fan of the game, so having creative control over both the script and the direction of the movie is a strong indication that the film is in good hands. We’ve seen “true fans” like Alex Kurtzman and Chloe Zhao malign franchises like Star Trek and Buffy the Vampire Slayer before, but Garland doesn’t seem the type to misrepresent his source material, even when he changes it to suit his own plot. Annihilation strayed from some of the themes of the Jeff VanderMeer novel, but retained the dreamy essence of the story, and some even consider his adaptation superior to the novel. Civil War proved that he doesn’t cater to Hollywood controversy.

Further Developments Are Imminent

These elements hint that fans can expect an Elden Ring that will capture the qualities of the game they enjoy, even if it chooses not to rely on its familiar player-characters. Garland always puts a lot of thought into what he writes, especially if he is going to direct it. That is why out of 22 writing credits, he only has directed seven films, including Elden Ring.

Unfortunately for emphatic Elden Ring fans, they’ll have to stay in suspense just a little while longer. There is no release date for the movie as of this writing, so we’ll all just have to be satisfied knowing that it has progressed far enough to begin filming. While that isn’t a guarantee that the movie will make it to theaters, it is definitely enough to stoke the imaginations of fans everywhere by revealing that the beloved setting has been brought to life from their video game screens.

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/movies/...-160152856.html

Illegal Chinese try to bomb US air base

QUOTE

DHS Reveals Suspects Connected to Explosive Device at MacDill Air Force Base Are Children of Illegal Aliens

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested the illegal alien parents of Ann Mary Zheng and Alen Zheng – two siblings who are connected to the attempted attack on March 10 on the MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida.

According to the Department of Justice, Ann Mary Zheng was charged “with assisting after the fact related to her brother, Alen Zheng, placing an improvised explosive device at the MacDill Air Force Base Visitor’s Center in Tampa and evidence tampering.” The DOJ added that “Ann Mary Zheng, knowing that her brother, Alen Zheng, had attempted to damage government property by fire or explosion, assisted him in order to hinder and prevent his apprehension, trial, and punishment.”

The alleged perpetrators of this attack on a U.S. Air Force base were born in the U.S. after their parents illegally entered the country. The attempted attack illustrates why the improper recognition of “birthright citizenship” for children of illegal aliens is not only inconsistent with the Constitution, but endangers all Americans.

“Automatically granting citizenship to children of illegal aliens born in the U.S. is based on a historically inaccurate interpretation of the Citizenship Clause and poses a major national security risk. That reality became apparent last week when two U.S.-born children of Chinese illegal aliens were indicted for planting a potentially deadly explosive device outside MacDill Air Force Base in Florida,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “This incident underscores the severe national security threat that illegal immigration and birth right citizenship pose to the United States.”

Ann Mary Zheng was arrested by federal authorities upon her return from China. Authorities believe her brother Alen Zheng is still in China.

In wake of the investigation, on March 18, ICE apprehended both parents, who remain in ICE custody. The parents, Qiu Qin Zou and Jia Zhang Zheng, illegally entered the U.S. at an unknown place.

In 1993, they both applied for asylum, but an immigration judge denied those claims and ordered both Zheng and Zou removed from the U.S. in 1998. The Bureau of Immigration Appeals denied multiple attempts by the pair to have their case reopened, but they illegally remained in the U.S. for decades despite being ordered removed almost 30 years ago.

On day one in office, President Donald J. Trump issued an executive order, titled, “Protecting the Meaning and Value of Citizenship.” President Trump added, “The privilege of United States citizenship is a priceless and profound gift.” And yet, that sacred honor has been abused because previous—and incorrect—interpretation of the law has allowed birthright citizenship—meant for children of slaves after the Civil War—to be granted to any child of an illegal alien. That executive order is now being challenged in the Supreme Court.

Under President Trump and DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, DHS will continue to ensure that our entire immigration system—legal and illegal—puts the American people first.

https://www.dhs.gov/news/2026/04/03/dhs-rev...se-are-children

Why tech CEOs love blaming AI for mass layoff

TL;DR
- it sounds better than saying "you are fired to please shareholders".
- it please shareholders and investors

also
- company instructed employees to work on project that make themselves obsolete.

QUOTE

Tech CEOs suddenly love blaming AI for mass job cuts. Why?

Sweeping job cuts at Big Tech companies have become an annual tradition. How executives explain those decisions, however, has changed.

Out are buzzwords like efficiency, over-hiring, and too many management layers.

Today, all explanations stem from artificial intelligence (AI).

In recent weeks, giants including Amazon, Meta, as well as smaller firms such as Pinterest and Atlassian, have all announced or warned of plans to shrink their workforce, pointing to developments in AI that they say are allowing their firms to do more with fewer people.

"I think that 2026 is going to be the year that AI starts to dramatically change the way that we work," Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg said in January.

Since then, his firm, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has axed hundreds of people, including 700 just last week.

Meta, which plans to nearly double spending on AI this year, is still hiring in "priority areas", a spokesman said.

But more job cuts are expected in the months ahead, while a hiring freeze is in place at many parts of the firm, two people with the company told the BBC.

Jack Dorsey, who leads financial technology firm Block, has been even more explicit about his aims.

"This isn't just about efficiency," he told shareholders last month, as he announced that his company, which operates platforms like CashApp, Square and Tidal, would be shedding almost half its workforce.

"Intelligence tools have changed what it means to build and run a company… A significantly smaller team, using the tools we're building, can do more and do it better."

Dorsey said he expected a "majority of companies" to come to a similar conclusion within the next year. "I wanted to get ahead of it," he added.

Dorsey's justifications drew plenty of sceptics, who pointed out that he has presided over at least two rounds of mass job cuts in the last two years and never mentioned AI.

But explaining cuts by pointing to advances in AI sounds better than citing cost pressures or a desire to please shareholders, says tech investor Terrence Rohan, who has had a seat on many company boards.

"Pointing to AI makes a better blog post," Rohan says. "Or it at least doesn't make you seem as much the bad guy who just wants to cut people for cost-effectiveness."

That does not mean there is no substance behind the words, Rohan added. Some of the companies he's backing are using code that is 25% to 75% AI-generated.

That is a sign of the real threat that AI tools for writing code represent to jobs such as software developer, computer engineer and programmer, posts once considered a near-guarantee of highly paid, stable careers.

"Some of it is that the narrative is changing, some of it is that we really are starting to see step changes in productivity," Anne Hoecker, a partner at Bain who leads the consultancy's technology practice, says of the recent job cuts. "Leaders more recently are seeing these tools are good enough that you really can do the same amount of work with fundamentally less people."

Signalling 'discipline', spending $650bn
There is another way that AI is driving job cuts - and it has nothing to do with the technical abilities of coding tools and chatbots.

Amazon, Meta, Google and Microsoft are collectively planning to pour $650bn (£485bn) into AI in the coming year.

As executives hunt for ways to try to ease investor shock at those costs, many are landing on payroll, typically tech firms' single biggest expense.

Companies are not exactly hiding the connection.

In February, Amazon executives said they plan to spend $200bn over the next year on AI investments, the most out of all the major tech companies.

At the same time, the firm's chief financial officer noted that the company would continue to "work very hard to offset that with efficiencies and cost reductions" elsewhere in the company. Since October, Amazon has cut about 30,000 corporate workers.

Although the expense of, for example, 30,000 corporate Amazon employees is dwarfed by that company's AI spending plans, firms of this size will now take any opportunity to cut costs, Rohan says.

"They're playing a game of inches," Rohan says of cuts at Big Tech firms. "If you can even slightly tune the machine, that is helpful."

Hoecker says cutting jobs also signals to stock market investors worried about the "real and huge" cost of AI development that executives are not blithely writing blank cheques.

"It shows some discipline," says Hoecker. "Maybe laying off people isn't going to make much of a dent in that bill, but by creating a little bit of cashflow, it helps."

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cde5y2x51y8o

IRGC angry leaders keep dying, want bomb Apple

QUOTE

Iran threatens imminent attacks on US tech companies in the Middle East

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a branch of Iran's armed forces, has threatened to target US tech companies' operations in the Middle East. It told employees of 18 companies — including Apple, Google, Meta and NVIDIA — “to leave their workplaces immediately to save their lives,” as CBS Newsreported. Those living close to the companies' facilities in the region were instructed to evacuate immediately as well. Microsoft, Oracle, Tesla, HP, Intel, Palantir, Boeing, Dell, Cisco and IBM are also among the companies that the IRGC named.

"Since the main element in designing and tracking terror targets are American [information and communications technology] and AI companies, in response to this terrorist operation, from now on the main institutions effective in terrorist operations will be our legitimate targets," the IRGC said in a statement. The military force warned it will start targeting the companies on Wednesday evening if more Iranian leaders are killed.

Iran previously pledged to attack companies and banks tied to the US and Israel, though the warning it issued on Tuesday had a specific deadline. Earlier this month, Iranian drones struck Amazon data centers in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, disrupting Amazon Web Services operations in the region.

The US reportedly used Anthropic's AI in its initial airstrikes against Iran at the onset of the war in late February. Israel has been using a new AI platform of its own to help it track the movements of Iranian officials.

https://au.news.yahoo.com/iran-threatens-im...-184841529.html

BlackRock:Experiment over, DEI is failure.

How will be leftists feel that the DEI that the loved so much is actually made up, promoted and paid by Black Rock, the 1 company that they hate the most.

QUOTE

BlackRock’s Larry Fink realized DEI policies ‘bad for business’: Joe Concha

Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha said BlackRock CEO Larry Fink realized “alienating” half the country with diversity, equity, and inclusion policies hurt his company.

Concha highlighted other companies that also removed DEI policies, including Coca-Cola, Target, and Walmart.

“Any company, any business, any government position should be based on one cold, hard mandate: who’s the best person for the job,” Concha said Thursday on Fox Business’s Evening Edit. “Regardless of the color, regardless of their sexual orientation. Who is best for the job?”

The nation’s largest asset manager announced in early March that it was ending its diversity goals and merging the DEI team into “Talent and Culture,” after the Trump administration rolled back the Biden administration’s DEI initiatives.

Fink told Fox News’s Bret Baier on Thursday that he is “echoing” what he is hearing from clients.

“Do I believe the pendulum five years ago was too far? Yes,” Fink told Baier.

When pressed by Baier on whether BlackRock pushed some companies further to the left, Fink said it was “never our intention.”

Concha said more companies like BlackRock are beginning to realize a “merit-based system” will lead to a more successful business.

“Woke is dead,” Concha said. “The Donald Trump election of 2024 helped solidify that, and that’s why Larry Fink is singing a much different tune than he did eight years ago.”

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/449...ess-joe-concha/
