A Chinese man who endured three years of intense pain while urinating finally went to the hospital and discovered he had a 1.3kg stone in his bladder.

Chen had experienced frequent and painful urination for three years. The symptoms had become so serious recently that he dared not travel far during the day and could not sleep at night.

Chen was diagnosed with a giant 10cm by 13cm stone in his bladder.

A scan revealed that the stone had almost occupied the whole bladder. It was reported to be the largest bladder stone in the Western Guangdong region.

The stone had also caused bilateral hydronephrosis, a condition where both kidneys swell from urine build-up and cause a severe urinary tract infection.

His doctor said that the stone had been pressuring the bladder wall and damaging his kidney function and could potentially lead to uraemia because had he not received treatment in time.

The medical team designed a surgery plan for him and eventually removed the stone from his bladder successfully. It weighed 1.3kg and was the size of two adult fists.

As the case was reported in May, Chen was said to have been recovering well.

Chen’s doctor did not reveal the reason behind his bladder stone, but according to urologist Wang Guangchun at the Shanghai Tenth People’s Hospital, the bladder stone is usually formed from the urine remaining in the bladder for a long time.

This could be caused by enlarged prostate, which happened more in ageing men, and bad life habits such as being sedentary, or consuming insufficient water.

Chen’s doctor also advised people to drink plenty of water, empty the bladder regularly and treat minor diseases such as enlarged prostate and urinary tract infections in time, to prevent bladder stones from forming.

Wang warned people with interrupted or painful urination to have a body check.

“His bladder stone looks larger than his bladder,” an online observer said.

“He must have very strong mental power to stand such a giant stone,” said another.

“When feeling uncomfortable it is necessary to go to the doctor immediately,” a third person said.

At the time of the gunfire, a woman was stopped at the traffic light on Avenue I with her arm resting out of the window. One pellet from the shotgun blast struck her in the upper right arm. Her injury was not believed to be life-threatening, and a family member transported her to Regional West Medical Center for treatment.

This matter remains under investigation by the Scottsbluff Police Department.

When he returned as CEO, he said he gave employees who had been hired under the prior leadership structure 60 days to adapt to a leaner, startup-style culture. But the result was that “99%” couldn’t adapt, and Breslow eventually got rid of nearly the entire leadership team and started from scratch.

“They had gotten used to working at a company where they didn’t have to get their hands dirty, and could spend a lot of money, and we just didn’t have that money to spend anymore, and we didn’t have that luxury,” he said.

The shift, he added, required abandoning some of the leadership ideals he had previously embraced. This included eliminating four-day workweeks and unlimited PTO.

“As someone who was a pioneer of conscious leadership,” he said. “I had to bring a company back to a very gritty place.”

Now, Breslow argued that the strategy is paying off.

Bolt currently markets itself as the “One SuperApp to rule them all”—a one-stop shop for sending money, earning rewards, and trading cryptocurrency—and has slimmed down to roughly 100 employees. The new, now-rejected patent is application no. 2026-019762, a divisional of the previous one that focuses on monster-catching mechanics, but this specific application targets touchscreen devices instead. The claim language talks about "a game program executed by a computer of an information processing apparatus equipped with a touch panel" before underlining specific Pokémon-like mechanics such as using a "capture item for capturing a field character" and using those same characters to appear in the field and fight.

"The above is simply a general monster-catching rule set. There is nothing technologically innovative about it," the Japan Patent Office (JPO) examiner concluded. According to the analysis, there's no "inventive step" over the "prior art": "Nintendo already amended the claims in February and can try to amend them again."

The rejection was communicated on 24th April, 2026, and Game Fray believes this will be another uphill battle for Nintendo should it choose to "persuade the examiner to arrive at a different conclusion".

Ship hijackings off the Somali coast have become more frequent since the US and Israel began their war on Iran in February.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has raised the piracy threat level along the Somali coast to “substantial” and warned vessels to “transit with caution”.

The European Union’s naval forces patrolling the region said that the Iran war has given piracy groups a “window of opportunity”.

A tanker carrying about 18,000 barrels of oil was hijacked near the Somali coast on April 21. Within the following five days, two more vessels were seized.

The suspect, described by police as a British national born in Somalia, was Tasered and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder shortly after the incident. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the man came to the UK "lawfully as a child" in the 1990s.

The Metropolitan Police said detectives are also investigating a separate incident in south-east London that was reported several hours before the attack in Golders Green. Police were called to an address in Great Dover Street, in the Borough area of Southwark, at around 8.50am on Wednesday.

"The suspect who is reported to have been armed with a knife, is believed to have had an altercation with the occupant before leaving. The occupant received minor injuries and police arrived within around six minutes of being called," the force said. "It is believed that the suspect in this incident is the same individual arrested in Golders Green."

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams and Barnet Council Chief Executive Cath Shaw said in a joint statement that a "significant number of officers" would be deployed in the south-east London area to support the investigation.

"This gives police officers temporary powers to stop and search people in the area without needing specific suspicion, where there is a risk of serious violence," the statement said. Speaking at a roundtable on Thursday, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said the criminal justice response to the attack must be "swift, agile and visible", shortly after extra funding was announced to increase security for Jewish communities.

A further £25 million will be invested to boost police patrols and protections around synagogues, schools and community centres, taking the total commitment this year to £58 million.

A Grand Jury in Montgomery, Alabama, today returned an indictment charging the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) with 11 counts of wire fraud, false statements to a federally insured bank, and conspiracy to commit concealment money laundering. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Alabama Northern Division filed two forfeiture actions to recover alleged proceeds of the organization’s fraud scheme. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigated this case with assistance from the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI).

“The SPLC is manufacturing racism to justify its existence,” said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. “Using donor money to allegedly profit off Klansmen cannot go unchecked. This Department of Justice will hold the SPLC and every other fraudulent organization operating with the same deceptive playbook accountable. No entity is above the law.”

“The SPLC allegedly engaged in a massive fraud operation to deceive their donors, enrich themselves, and hide their deceptive operations from the public," said FBI Director Kash Patel. "They lied to their donors, vowing to dismantle violent extremist groups, and actually turned around and paid the leaders of these very extremist groups - even utilizing the funds to have these groups facilitate the commission of state and federal crimes. That is illegal – and this is an ongoing investigation against all individuals involved.”

The SPLC is a non-profit organization headquartered in Montgomery, Alabama, whose mission, according to its website during the relevant time period, was to be a “catalyst for racial justice in the South and beyond, working in partnership with communities to dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements, and advance the human rights of all people.”

According to the indictment starting in the 1980s, the SPLC began operating a covert network of individuals who were either associated with violent and extremist groups, such as the Ku Klux Klan, or who had infiltrated violent extremist groups at the SPLC’s direction. Unbeknownst to donors, some of their donated money was being used to fund the leaders and organizers of racist groups at the same time that the SPLC was denouncing the same groups on its website.

“Donors gave their money believing they were supporting the fight against violent extremism,” said Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson. “As alleged, the SPLC instead diverted a portion of those funds to benefit individuals and groups they claimed to oppose. That kind of deception undermines public trust and social cohesion.”

According to the indictment, the objective of the scheme and artifice was to obtain money via donations through materially false representations and omissions about what the donated funds would be used for.

In order to covertly pay the individuals, the SPLC opened bank accounts connected to a series of fictitious entities. The covert nature of the accounts allowed the SPLC to disguise the true nature, source, ownership, and control of the fraudulently obtained donated money the SPLC paid the individuals. In order to keep the scheme going, the SPLC made a series of false statements related to the operation of the accounts.

A conviction will result in the forfeiture of financial gains from the alleged illegal activities.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel made the announcement in Washington.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, in a massive, sweeping indictment, has been charged with allegations of fraud and using the banking system to perpetrate that fraud. I just want to talk about a couple of brief things here. The Southern Poverty Law Center themselves advertise to raise money to dismantle violent extremist groups for a period of at least a decade.

They used their donor network to raise money to purportedly dismantle violent extremist groups. However, the SPLC, the Southern Poverty Law Center, used the money they raised raised from their donor network to actually pay the leadership of these very groups. I just want to say that, again, they used the fraudulently raised money by lying to their donor network, thousands of Americans, to go ahead and actually pay the leadership of these supposedly violent extremist groups.

The groups, as the General laid out, include the Ku Klux Klan, the United Klans of America, Unite the Right, National Alliance, the National Socialist Movement, the Aryan Nation Motorcycle Club, and the National Socialist Party of America, and also the American Front. In at least one of these matters, our investigation revealed that funds were used to facilitate the commission of further state and federal offenses totaling over $3 million.

Furthermore, our investigation revealed that the Southern Poverty Law Center, on top of perpetuating this widespread, decade-long multi-million dollar fraud, conducted more criminal activity. They attempted to hide their criminal activity from our financial banking network. They set up shell companies and entities around America so that the financial institutions that we rely on as everyday Americans were deceived in believing that money was not coming from the Southern Poverty Law Center and the perpetration of this scheme and fraud, but rather fictitious entities they stood up to perpetuate this ongoing fraud.

This is a serious and egregious violation of a group that purported to dismantle violent extremist groups, but in turn actually only fueled the hatred. This is an important case brought by the President, by President Trump's administration. We're thankful to the President for his leadership and funding of not just the FBI and DOJ, but his commitment to go out there and wipe out fraud and conspiracy and waste and abuse wherever it occurs, including the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Even though this money was made to appear to be coming from legitimate people and legitimate entities, we at the FBI, with our great partners at the Department of Justice and in the state of Alabama, were able to comb through a decade worth of material, a scheme that took a decade to build so that we were able to follow the money, because money never lies, and they got caught.

As the Attorney General said, these charges are varying, they are widespread and wide ranging, and this investigation is very much ongoing. Today, we're here to announce the charges of the Southern Poverty Law Center. And this investigation, and the individuals who are responsible will be brought to justice. Thank you General.

According to the allegations contained in the Complaint, the Superseding Indictment, and other information in the public record:

Since at least in or about 2019, the DEA investigated EBISAWA in connection with large-scale narcotics and weapons trafficking. During the investigation, EBISAWA unwittingly introduced an undercover DEA agent (“UC-1”), posing as a narcotics and weapons trafficker, to EBISAWA’s international network of criminal associates, which spanned Japan, Thailand, Burma, Sri Lanka, and the U.S., among other places, for the purpose of arranging large-scale narcotics and weapons transactions. EBISAWA and his network, including his co-defendants, negotiated multiple narcotics and weapons transactions with UC-1.

EBISAWA conspired to broker the purchase, from UC-1, of U.S.-made surface-to-air missiles, as well as other heavy-duty weaponry, intended for multiple ethnic armed groups in Burma (including the leader of an ethnic insurgent group in Burma (“CC-1”)), and to accept large quantities of heroin and methamphetamine for distribution as partial payment for the weapons. EBISAWA understood the weapons to have been manufactured in the U.S. and taken from U.S. military bases in Afghanistan. EBISAWA planned for the heroin and methamphetamine to be distributed in the New York market.

In addition, EBISAWA conspired to sell, in a separate transaction, 500 kilograms of methamphetamine and 500 kilograms of heroin to UC-1 for distribution in New York. In furtherance of that transaction, on or about June 16, 2021, and on or about September 27, 2021, one of EBISAWA’s co-defendants provided samples of approximately one kilogram of methamphetamine and approximately 1.4 kilograms of heroin. EBISAWA also worked to launder $100,000 in purported narcotics proceeds from the U.S. to Japan.

Finally, beginning in early 2020, EBISAWA informed UC-1 and a DEA confidential source (“CS-1”) that EBISAWA had access to a large quantity of nuclear materials that he wanted to sell. Later that year, EBISAWA sent UC-1 a series of photographs depicting rocky substances with Geiger counters measuring radiation, as well as pages of what EBISAWA represented to be lab analyses indicating the presence of thorium and uranium in the depicted substances. In response to EBISAWA’s repeated inquiries, UC-1 agreed, as part of the DEA’s investigation, to help EBISAWA broker the sale of his nuclear materials to UC-1’s associate, who was posing as an Iranian general (the “General”), for use in a nuclear weapons program. EBISAWA then offered to supply the General with “plutonium” that would be even “better” and more “powerful” than uranium for this purpose. EBISAWA further proposed, together with two other co-conspirators (“CC-2” and “CC-3”), to UC-1 that CC-1 sell uranium to the General, through EBISAWA, to fund CC-1’s weapons purchase.

Thereafter, on a February 4, 2022, videoconference, CC-2 told UC-1 that CC-1 had available more than 2,000 kilograms of Thorium-232 and more than 100 kilograms of uranium in the compound U3O8 — referring to a compound of uranium commonly found in the uranium concentrate powder known as “yellowcake” — and that CC-1 could produce as much as five tons of nuclear materials in Burma. CC-2 also advised that CC-1 had provided samples of the uranium and thorium, which CC-2 was prepared to show to UC-1’s purported buyers. CC-2 noted that the samples should be packed “to contain . . . the radiation.” Approximately one week later, EBISAWA, CC-2, and CC-3 participated in a series of meetings with UC-1 and CS-1 in Southeast Asia, to discuss their ongoing weapons, narcotics, and nuclear materials transactions. During one of these meetings, CC-2 asked UC-1 to meet in CC-2’s hotel room. Inside the room, CC-2 showed UC-1 two plastic containers each holding a powdery yellow substance (the “Nuclear Samples”), which CC-2 described as “yellowcake.” CC-2 advised that one container held a sample of uranium in the compound U3O8, and the other container held Thorium-232.

With the assistance of Thai authorities, the Nuclear Samples were seized and subsequently transferred to the custody of U.S. law enforcement. A nuclear forensic laboratory in the U.S. examined the Nuclear Samples and determined that both samples contain detectable quantities of uranium, thorium, and plutonium. In particular, the laboratory determined that the isotope composition of the plutonium found in the Nuclear Samples is weapons-grade, meaning that the plutonium, if produced in sufficient quantities, would be suitable for use in a nuclear weapon.

EBISAWA, 60, of Japan, pled guilty to six counts contained in the Superseding Indictment. A table containing the charges and minimum and maximum penalties is set forth below.

An Animated ‘Bloodborne’ Movie Is Coming From Sony And A YouTuber

Every time fans see Bloodborne show up in a news item, there is immediate excitement that there could be word about a remaster or sequel. Today, unsurprisingly, that’s not what’s happened; instead, this announcement is something few saw coming: a Bloodborne animated movie.

The news is out of Sony’s presentation at CinemaCon, where it’s been revealed that Sony Pictures and PlayStation productions are making an R-rated animated movie in partnership with a YouTuber, Seán “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin, who has 31 million subscribers.

The involvement of a YouTuber is a bit eyebrow-raising, but McLoughlin is something of a Bloodborne superfan, so it’s not as random as it seems. He posted this in the Bloodborne subreddit after the announcement:

The reaction of that community was a mix of excitement about the announcement, but certainly some skepticism about McLoughlin’s involvement, given that he’s not an industry figure. But again, McLoughlin is a producer, and as far as we know, not the director, writer or an actor in the film.

It’s funny to watch the immediate hope turn to a remaster/remake/sequel/60 fps patch to go along with this release, but there has obviously been nothing like that announced, and this odd tug of war between Sony and FromSoftware may continue indefinitely, hence no movement on anything in the Bloodborne realm…ever. Now, when there is news, it’s an animated movie.

It’s unknown whether this will see a full theatrical release like the Spider-Verse movies or be sold to a streaming service, as Sony did with KPop Demon Hunters (which, in hindsight, was probably not the right call). But mentioning those two films, it should be noted that the Bloodborne movie is not being animated by Sony Pictures Animation, but rather by Lyrical Animation, a subsidiary of a larger production company behind films like Bruiser and How to Blow Up a Pipeline. Its animation division has apparently not released any films yet, but is reportedly working on a Death Stranding movie with Kojima Productions.

There are many question marks here, and I certainly understand a lot of the skepticism. I’m more curious about the seemingly untested animation studio than I am Jacksepticeye’s involvement as a producer, but we’ll have to see how it looks in action.

Ever since it was announced in May 2025, the Elden Ring movie has been eagerly awaited by fans of the video game. Written by George R.R. Martin and FromSoftware game developer Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game put players in a world ruled by demigods whose war for dominance destroys the one artifact holding the land in balance. On April 6, 2026, news leaked that the movie Elden Ring has begun filming.

This happened because a random group of social media users stumbled over a set piece in England that features iconic imagery from the game. The setting itself is reminiscent of the game’s dark fantasy setting, but it also features a statue of Queen Marika, who is a major game character responsible for breaking the titular Elden Ring and causing chaos in the Land Between. The online influencers shared a video of the set online, once again igniting enthusiasm from the game’s fans.

Alex Garland Leading The Charge

The incredible game was written by a fantasy legend and a renowned game creator, and the script was written by another game writer, Alex Garland. While most people know him for Annihilation and the controversial Civil War, Garland is also credited as the writer of the popular video game title Devil May Cry and three of its sequels and re-masters. Garland’s skill as a director are proven by his movies, but he has written two novels, The Tesseract and The Beach, as well as several major screenplays beyond those he directed, including Sunshine, Dredd, 28 Years Later, and 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.

It also helps that Garland is a real fan of the game, so having creative control over both the script and the direction of the movie is a strong indication that the film is in good hands. We’ve seen “true fans” like Alex Kurtzman and Chloe Zhao malign franchises like Star Trek and Buffy the Vampire Slayer before, but Garland doesn’t seem the type to misrepresent his source material, even when he changes it to suit his own plot. Annihilation strayed from some of the themes of the Jeff VanderMeer novel, but retained the dreamy essence of the story, and some even consider his adaptation superior to the novel. Civil War proved that he doesn’t cater to Hollywood controversy.

Further Developments Are Imminent

These elements hint that fans can expect an Elden Ring that will capture the qualities of the game they enjoy, even if it chooses not to rely on its familiar player-characters. Garland always puts a lot of thought into what he writes, especially if he is going to direct it. That is why out of 22 writing credits, he only has directed seven films, including Elden Ring.

Unfortunately for emphatic Elden Ring fans, they’ll have to stay in suspense just a little while longer. There is no release date for the movie as of this writing, so we’ll all just have to be satisfied knowing that it has progressed far enough to begin filming. While that isn’t a guarantee that the movie will make it to theaters, it is definitely enough to stoke the imaginations of fans everywhere by revealing that the beloved setting has been brought to life from their video game screens.

According to the Department of Justice, Ann Mary Zheng was charged “with assisting after the fact related to her brother, Alen Zheng, placing an improvised explosive device at the MacDill Air Force Base Visitor’s Center in Tampa and evidence tampering.” The DOJ added that “Ann Mary Zheng, knowing that her brother, Alen Zheng, had attempted to damage government property by fire or explosion, assisted him in order to hinder and prevent his apprehension, trial, and punishment.”

The alleged perpetrators of this attack on a U.S. Air Force base were born in the U.S. after their parents illegally entered the country. The attempted attack illustrates why the improper recognition of “birthright citizenship” for children of illegal aliens is not only inconsistent with the Constitution, but endangers all Americans.

“Automatically granting citizenship to children of illegal aliens born in the U.S. is based on a historically inaccurate interpretation of the Citizenship Clause and poses a major national security risk. That reality became apparent last week when two U.S.-born children of Chinese illegal aliens were indicted for planting a potentially deadly explosive device outside MacDill Air Force Base in Florida,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “This incident underscores the severe national security threat that illegal immigration and birth right citizenship pose to the United States.”

Ann Mary Zheng was arrested by federal authorities upon her return from China. Authorities believe her brother Alen Zheng is still in China.

In wake of the investigation, on March 18, ICE apprehended both parents, who remain in ICE custody. The parents, Qiu Qin Zou and Jia Zhang Zheng, illegally entered the U.S. at an unknown place.

In 1993, they both applied for asylum, but an immigration judge denied those claims and ordered both Zheng and Zou removed from the U.S. in 1998. The Bureau of Immigration Appeals denied multiple attempts by the pair to have their case reopened, but they illegally remained in the U.S. for decades despite being ordered removed almost 30 years ago.

On day one in office, President Donald J. Trump issued an executive order, titled, “Protecting the Meaning and Value of Citizenship.” President Trump added, “The privilege of United States citizenship is a priceless and profound gift.” And yet, that sacred honor has been abused because previous—and incorrect—interpretation of the law has allowed birthright citizenship—meant for children of slaves after the Civil War—to be granted to any child of an illegal alien. That executive order is now being challenged in the Supreme Court.

Sweeping job cuts at Big Tech companies have become an annual tradition. How executives explain those decisions, however, has changed.

Out are buzzwords like efficiency, over-hiring, and too many management layers.

Today, all explanations stem from artificial intelligence (AI).

In recent weeks, giants including Amazon, Meta, as well as smaller firms such as Pinterest and Atlassian, have all announced or warned of plans to shrink their workforce, pointing to developments in AI that they say are allowing their firms to do more with fewer people.

"I think that 2026 is going to be the year that AI starts to dramatically change the way that we work," Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg said in January.

Since then, his firm, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has axed hundreds of people, including 700 just last week.

Meta, which plans to nearly double spending on AI this year, is still hiring in "priority areas", a spokesman said.

But more job cuts are expected in the months ahead, while a hiring freeze is in place at many parts of the firm, two people with the company told the BBC.

Jack Dorsey, who leads financial technology firm Block, has been even more explicit about his aims.

"This isn't just about efficiency," he told shareholders last month, as he announced that his company, which operates platforms like CashApp, Square and Tidal, would be shedding almost half its workforce.

"Intelligence tools have changed what it means to build and run a company… A significantly smaller team, using the tools we're building, can do more and do it better."

Dorsey said he expected a "majority of companies" to come to a similar conclusion within the next year. "I wanted to get ahead of it," he added.

Dorsey's justifications drew plenty of sceptics, who pointed out that he has presided over at least two rounds of mass job cuts in the last two years and never mentioned AI.

But explaining cuts by pointing to advances in AI sounds better than citing cost pressures or a desire to please shareholders, says tech investor Terrence Rohan, who has had a seat on many company boards.

"Pointing to AI makes a better blog post," Rohan says. "Or it at least doesn't make you seem as much the bad guy who just wants to cut people for cost-effectiveness."

That does not mean there is no substance behind the words, Rohan added. Some of the companies he's backing are using code that is 25% to 75% AI-generated.

That is a sign of the real threat that AI tools for writing code represent to jobs such as software developer, computer engineer and programmer, posts once considered a near-guarantee of highly paid, stable careers.

"Some of it is that the narrative is changing, some of it is that we really are starting to see step changes in productivity," Anne Hoecker, a partner at Bain who leads the consultancy's technology practice, says of the recent job cuts. "Leaders more recently are seeing these tools are good enough that you really can do the same amount of work with fundamentally less people."

Signalling 'discipline', spending $650bn
There is another way that AI is driving job cuts - and it has nothing to do with the technical abilities of coding tools and chatbots.

Amazon, Meta, Google and Microsoft are collectively planning to pour $650bn (£485bn) into AI in the coming year.

As executives hunt for ways to try to ease investor shock at those costs, many are landing on payroll, typically tech firms' single biggest expense.

Companies are not exactly hiding the connection.

In February, Amazon executives said they plan to spend $200bn over the next year on AI investments, the most out of all the major tech companies.

At the same time, the firm's chief financial officer noted that the company would continue to "work very hard to offset that with efficiencies and cost reductions" elsewhere in the company. Since October, Amazon has cut about 30,000 corporate workers.

Although the expense of, for example, 30,000 corporate Amazon employees is dwarfed by that company's AI spending plans, firms of this size will now take any opportunity to cut costs, Rohan says.

"They're playing a game of inches," Rohan says of cuts at Big Tech firms. "If you can even slightly tune the machine, that is helpful."

Hoecker says cutting jobs also signals to stock market investors worried about the "real and huge" cost of AI development that executives are not blithely writing blank cheques.

"It shows some discipline," says Hoecker. "Maybe laying off people isn't going to make much of a dent in that bill, but by creating a little bit of cashflow, it helps."

Iran threatens imminent attacks on US tech companies in the Middle East

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a branch of Iran's armed forces, has threatened to target US tech companies' operations in the Middle East. It told employees of 18 companies — including Apple, Google, Meta and NVIDIA — “to leave their workplaces immediately to save their lives,” as CBS Newsreported. Those living close to the companies' facilities in the region were instructed to evacuate immediately as well. Microsoft, Oracle, Tesla, HP, Intel, Palantir, Boeing, Dell, Cisco and IBM are also among the companies that the IRGC named.

"Since the main element in designing and tracking terror targets are American [information and communications technology] and AI companies, in response to this terrorist operation, from now on the main institutions effective in terrorist operations will be our legitimate targets," the IRGC said in a statement. The military force warned it will start targeting the companies on Wednesday evening if more Iranian leaders are killed.

Iran previously pledged to attack companies and banks tied to the US and Israel, though the warning it issued on Tuesday had a specific deadline. Earlier this month, Iranian drones struck Amazon data centers in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, disrupting Amazon Web Services operations in the region.

The US reportedly used Anthropic's AI in its initial airstrikes against Iran at the onset of the war in late February. Israel has been using a new AI platform of its own to help it track the movements of Iranian officials.

BlackRock’s Larry Fink realized DEI policies ‘bad for business’: Joe Concha

Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha said BlackRock CEO Larry Fink realized “alienating” half the country with diversity, equity, and inclusion policies hurt his company.

Concha highlighted other companies that also removed DEI policies, including Coca-Cola, Target, and Walmart.

“Any company, any business, any government position should be based on one cold, hard mandate: who’s the best person for the job,” Concha said Thursday on Fox Business’s Evening Edit. “Regardless of the color, regardless of their sexual orientation. Who is best for the job?”

The nation’s largest asset manager announced in early March that it was ending its diversity goals and merging the DEI team into “Talent and Culture,” after the Trump administration rolled back the Biden administration’s DEI initiatives.

Fink told Fox News’s Bret Baier on Thursday that he is “echoing” what he is hearing from clients.

“Do I believe the pendulum five years ago was too far? Yes,” Fink told Baier.

When pressed by Baier on whether BlackRock pushed some companies further to the left, Fink said it was “never our intention.”

Concha said more companies like BlackRock are beginning to realize a “merit-based system” will lead to a more successful business.

“Woke is dead,” Concha said. “The Donald Trump election of 2024 helped solidify that, and that’s why Larry Fink is singing a much different tune than he did eight years ago.”
