Previously I was a member of Celebrity Fitness 1-Utama but switched to California Fitness (platinum membership). I've terminated my membership at Celebrity Fitness, but the following month I was still being charged for it. I thought that it's a mistake and called them up, they said they'll check and get back to me. They didn't. The following month, I saw that I'm still being charged for it. Asked them again, and they said they'll look into it and get their manager to call me. Nobody called me up.

After that, I was busy outstation for over 2 months and by the time I got back, I checked my card statements and bloody hell, they're still charging me for that!! Called them up to *** them, and the person checked and said "Oh ya, it looks like we've been billing you wrongly for the past few months. I'll get my manager to call you back"

The manager didn't call me back and when I called back in the evening, I was told the manager went home.

WTF?? What sort of bloody lousy service is this?!! That was yesterday.

I called today to ask for the manager and some other manager answered my call. I asked them how come you're still charging my credit card for a few months although I have terminated my membership. And she told me "Oh, according to our records you terminated your membership on the 25th, and the next day you voided your cancellation". And then I got pissed, I asked "Do you have the forms that I signed stating I'm terminating my membership?" And the ******* had the cheek to reply "Yes, we have those forms, but we lost your forms for voiding the cancellation" And I *** back "That's because I didn't void my cancellation!!! What kind of fraud is this? Even without any consent you guys can just continue charging me!!"

And then this moron told me "Well, this case should be handled by another manager, not me. He'll be coming to work tomorrow, so can you come over here to sort it out with him?" and I told her "Why should I come over there for your mistake? Tell him to call me and we'll try and sort it out over the phone".

This experience with Celebrity Fitness has really left a bad taste in my mouth. The buggers can simply claim that you didn't stop your membership and continue charging, even after I have told them about this discrepancy before! They didn't even look into it and suddenly the story changed from they charged me wrongly to me voiding the cancellation, but they have no evidence that I voided the cancellation! This is so damn unprofessional and I'll bust the manager's nuts tomorrow. If they can't resolve it, I'll take it up with the consumers tribunal.

Has anyone had similar bad experiences with gym memberships and payments before? Please let us know the gym outlet and the nature of the problem, so that other members can be more cautious with those unethical gyms.
