The rider's antics were caught on camera.

In response to Mothership's queries, @rainforeyuxen, the person who took the video and posted it on Instagram, said the clip of the incident was filmed on May 23 at about 1:23am along Keppel Road. Two or three other riders were apparently also seen performing the same stunt while riding at a fast speed, the eyewitness said.

The rider seen on video apparently did the pose a few times, the eyewitness added. Travelled about 70km/h to 80km/h

The distance the PMD rider travelled in the video appeared to be about 170m, based on the landmarks seen in the video. The distance was covered in about 8 seconds. This works out to about 76.5km/h. According to @rainforeyuxen, the video was not sped up.

PMDs are not allowed to be used on roads. They can only be used on cycling paths and shared paths at a maximum speed of 25km/h.

First-time offenders face fines of up to S$2,000, a jail term of up to three months, or both. Non-compliant devices will be impounded. The public is encouraged to report errant users via the MyTransport.SG app.

Should Sarawak be placed under martial law?

From a strictly centralised state perspective, placing Sarawak under martial law could be argued as a necessary measure to halt systemic economic balkanisation and preserve the integrity of the federation. By independently establishing its own state airline, sovereign wealth fund, and petroleum agency, Sarawak aggressively bypasses federal oversight and starves the central government of unified fiscal control.

This economic defiance is an insurrection, creating a "state within a state" that directly undermines national sovereignty and sets a dangerous, fragmenting precedent for other regions. Invoking martial law would instantly dismantle these parallel institutions, reassert federal supremacy, and ensure that the nation's strategic resources are managed under a single, unified command to guarantee collective national stability.

Jail for man for abusing/assaulting Jewish people

SINGAPORE – A man jailed in 2024 after telling an Israeli that he would kill him went on to verbally abuse a 14-year-old boy who was wearing a Jewish skullcap in March 2026.

Mohammad Arif Ismail, 40, was sentenced to 20 weeks’ jail on May 21 after pleading guilty to three charges involving separate incidents – one count each of uttering words to wound the racial feelings of another person, assaulting an elderly man, and theft.

Arif, a Singaporean, has been in and out of jail for crimes such as using criminal force on another person and other counts of theft. Court documents stated that in May 2024, he pleaded guilty to uttering words to a 34-year-old Israeli man with the deliberate intention of wounding the latter’s religious feelings.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Khong Zi-Wei told the court that Arif was sentenced to three weeks’ jail for this offence. Following his release, Arif was travelling on bus service 858 on March 20, 2026, when he saw the 14-year-old boy wearing a kippah, a skullcap traditionally worn by men of the Jewish faith. Arif turned towards the teenager, abused him with vulgar language and flashed a lewd hand gesture at him.

The DPP added: “The accused had intentionally directed the offensive words and gesture at the victim, completely unprovoked, and did so in a manner calculated to injure (him) in the light of the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Another of Arif’s charges that he admitted to on May 21 involved his assault of a 79-year-old stranger at a taxi stand in Commonwealth Avenue in October 2025.

Arif went up to the man and extended his hand, gesturing for a handshake. However, the senior citizen did not reciprocate as he did not know the younger man. Arif suddenly punched the retiree’s left temple and rained blows on his chest. In an attempt to protect himself, the victim pushed Arif, causing him to fall.

After getting back on his feet, Arif kicked the victim, who fell and wounded his right elbow. Arif was walking away when a nearby policewoman, who was then on patrol, and her partner stopped him. He also stole two bottles of liquor worth more than $100 in total from a supermarket in Tanglin Road on Nov 7, 2025.

On May 21, Arif, who was not represented by a lawyer, pleaded for leniency, telling the court that he will not re-offend.

Singapore bans NUS-educated Malaysian

https://mothership.sg/2026/03/fadiah-nadwa-...iolent-protest/

A Malaysian lawyer and activist was barred from entry into Singapore for promoting unlawful, violent and disruptive methods of civil protest, and getting involved in domestic politics here. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) shared in a media statement on Mar. 27, 2026 that Fadiah Nadwa Binti Fikri was denied entry into the country as an undesirable visitor.

Fadiah shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Mar. 22, saying she was "banned" from entering Singapore. She added that it was a "stunning" decision because she apparently stayed in Singapore for five years and was "conferred a doctoral degree" by NUS.

Fadiah studied for a Doctorate of Philosophy in NUS's Department of Southeast Asian Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. In a series of follow-up tweets, Fadiah claimed that her denial of entry into Singapore was "tantamount to a deliberate attack" on her scholarly work, which involves decolonisation and anti-imperialism.

She said she found the ordeal "extremely distressing and outrageous." In a series of retweets, Fadiah shared the tweets of other X users who linked her denial of entry into Singapore to her views on the conflict in Gaza between Israel and the Palestinians.

The incident was picked up by at least one Malaysian media outlet. Encouraged youths to undertake disruptive and violent actions However, in their statement, MHA made clear the real reason why Fadiah was denied entry. As a Malaysian who was studying in Singapore, she engaged in political activism here:

"She encouraged some youths in Singapore to adopt her brand of radical advocacy. She encouraged them to go beyond protests, to mobilise students and different communities in Singapore, and to undertake disruptive and violent actions to support specific causes." "We will not tolerate foreigners getting involved in our domestic politics, nor the promotion of unlawful, violent and disruptive methods of civil protest," MHA added.

Jail for voyeur who kept peeking and molesting

SINGAPORE: When a man realised that he could look into his 23-year-old neighbour's bedroom through the window in his bathroom, he began watching her undress and even shone a laser pointer into her room to get her attention.

Rosrankani Abdul Latif, a 68-year-old Singaporean man, also molested a minor on a bus and stole a caged bird, only to lose it when he tried to wash it.

He was sentenced to jail for eight months and one week on Friday (Mar 13), after pleading guilty to four charges which included molestation, voyeurism and theft. Another four charges were taken into consideration.

The court heard that Rosrankani noticed in January 2025 that he had a direct view into a 23-year-old woman's bedroom from his bathroom window. The victim lived in the same Housing Board block.

Rosrankani then observed the young woman undressing or lying on her bed over more than seven months until August 2025. He looked into her bedroom as he was single and had "the urge to look at girls", and believed that the victim liked him.

In May 2025, the victim was trying on new clothes in her bedroom. Rosrankani stood in his toilet and observed her naked and trying on clothes. On Jun 24, 2025, the victim called the police saying Rosrankani was pointing a laser into her room at her thigh, while he was in his toilet.

The victim felt harassed and began drawing her blinds and installing frosted window film. She also installed a closed-circuit television camera in her bedroom. At about 12am on Jul 18, 2025, the victim noticed that Rosrankani was pointing a laser into her bedroom from his toilet. This occurred for about 10 to 15 minutes.

The victim's blinds were partially drawn at the time. At about 12.15am, Rosrankani repeatedly shouted: "Come to my house. I love you. ... I want to see you naked." He also shouted other sexually suggestive things at the victim.

He continued shining his laser pointer at the victim's room, and the victim's mother called the police. Rosrankani was arrested that day and his silver laser pointer was seized from him.

He was later charged and released on bail. On Aug 2, 2025, while drunk, he walked back and forth along the corridor outside the victim's home and shouted at her, causing her to feel distressed.

During investigations, he admitted that the victim's mother and aunt had previously confronted him about his behaviour. However, he replied to them that the victim should draw her blinds or change her blinds such that he could not see into her room.

THE GIRL ON THE BUS

On Aug 2, 2025, Rosrankani was in the last row of a bus when a 15-year-old girl in a secondary school uniform boarded the bus.

The girl's right leg was in a walking boot as she had injured it. When Rosrankani saw her, he called out to her and gestured at her to sit in the empty seat next to him. The girl complied. Rosrankani rubbed his elbow on the girl's hip, over her skirt. He then spread his legs open wide such that his knee touched hers and continued rubbing his elbow on her hip.

The girl sent WhatsApp messages to her friends telling them about her discomfort. Outraged, she told Rosrankani to stop, but he did not reply. Instead, he began rubbing her hip with his elbow more forcefully.

The girl stood up and walked towards the front of the bus, holding onto a pole for balance. Rosrankani followed her and placed his hand over hers on the pole. He then stepped towards the girl and rubbed himself against her buttocks at least three times. The girl moved away each time.

She started a video call with her father and held her phone up so Rosrankani could see it. Rosrankani stopped only after this. The victim alighted from the bus and asked her father to fetch her, as she feared that Rosrankani would follow her. She cried while waiting at the bus stop and broke down further when she saw her father.

She felt disgusted, extremely uncomfortable and shaken. She also blamed herself for sitting between Rosrankani and another man, as her mother had previously warned her not to sit between two men. As a result of Rosrankani's actions, the victim felt wary and unsafe every time she took the bus, as she was afraid of being molested again.

Rosrankani was uncooperative during investigations into this offence. He also admitted to an unrelated charge of theft for stealing a bird cage containing a jambul bird on Jun 22, 2023.

He took the bird home and tried to wash it, but it flew away when he opened the cage. He later sold the bird cage to a shop for S$100. The bird and the cage, worth S$3,000 in total, were not recovered, and no restitution was made.

The prosecution sought eight months and one week's jail to 10 months and two weeks' jail for Rosrankani, calling him a serial thief and sexual predator. He has multiple previous convictions for theft from as far back as 1981.

For voyeurism, he could have been jailed for up to two years and fined. He cannot be caned as he is above 50. For molestation, he could have been jailed for up to three years and fined.

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/v...ts-jail-5991346

https://www.malaymail.com/news/singapore/20...r-supply/200026

SINGAPORE, Nov 28 — Singapore has confirmed that discussions with Malaysia related to the 1962 Water Agreement (62WA) are ongoing, according to the republic’s Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.

However, Balakrishnan declined to reveal details of the latest discussions, saying talks were held only recently.

“We used to have two agreements: one signed in 1961 and another in 1962. The 1961 agreement has expired. In 2011, I handed over the waterworks to His Majesty (The Sultan of Johor), and we let that one lapse.

“There is now only one water agreement left, the 1962 agreement, which is valid for 99 years and expires in 2061. That is where things stand for now.”

Balakrishnan said this at a fireside chat with participants of the Malaysian Journalists’ Visit Programme (MJVP) here recently.

In a Joint Statement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the then Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the 10th Singapore-Malaysia Leaders’ Retreat held in October 2023, both leaders reaffirmed their commitments as provided for in the 62WA.

Both leaders agreed to reconvene a Joint Technical Committee to resume discussions on measures to safeguard water quality and increase the yield of the Johor River, to ensure its sustainable supply as required by the 62WA.

The leaders also agreed that both countries would resume discussions on the raw and treated water prices, without prejudice to their long-declared positions on the right to review the prices under the 62WA, according to the joint statement.

The 62WA gives Singapore 250 million gallons of raw water per day at three sen per 1,000 gallons and, in return, Malaysia is entitled to buy back the treated water at 50 sen per 1,000 gallons.

The next Annual Leaders’ Retreat is expected to be held this month.

Turning to the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project, Balakrishnan said Singapore remains open to considering a fresh proposal.

The minister responded to a question on whether Singapore would revisit discussions on the project.

“It (HSR) was first proposed by the then Prime Minister Najib (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak), and we agreed. We signed, we cleared out golf courses, made infrastructure changes and spent money preparing for it.

“Then there was a change of decision in Kuala Lumpur, and we accepted it. So that is over,” he said.

“If there is a new proposal with fresh eyes, we will look at it. We are open to it, but from what I hear from my Malaysian colleagues, it has to be a commercial enterprise and commercially viable. We will have to see,” he said.

Meanwhile, Singapore views its economic ties with Sarawak as strong and steadily expanding, driven by the state government’s proactive efforts to deepen cooperation in trade, tourism and investment.

He said the relationship has grown even closer under the leadership of Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, whose commitment to strengthening economic engagement has opened new avenues for collaboration.

Asked about the status of the proposal to establish a Singapore Consulate-General in Sarawak, he replied, “We will wait for approval from Kuala Lumpur.”

The MJVP is organised by the Media Division of the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), and aims to promote a better understanding of Singapore through fireside chats with political officeholders and learning journeys. — Bernama
Singapore still stubborn to recognise Palestine

SINGAPORE: The recognition of a Palestinian state is not a question of if, but when, Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim said in parliament on Monday (Sep 22).

Delivering a ministerial statement on the situation in the Middle East, Associate Professor Faishal said he understood that the question of whether Singapore should move to recognise Palestine has been on Singaporeans' minds.

In the Malay portion of his speech, he said he would like to offer his assurance that the recognition of a Palestinian state is indeed "what we hope for and are working towards", an English translation stated. "That has always been Singapore’s position to ensure enduring peace for the people of Israel and Palestine. This is not a question of if, but when," he added in Malay.

"We may not recognise Palestine today, but I would like to make clear to Singaporeans that we have not been – and will not be – silent onlookers to the tragedy unfolding in Gaza."

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/s...as-unga-5361796
https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/f...n-state-5361451
https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/s...aza-war-5361211

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/m...kok-kit-5253311

SINGAPORE: A man accused of uploading a video of himself having sex with his ex-girlfriend onto a pornography website contested the charge, suggesting that a third party must have taken over his account.

The court was not convinced by the case argued by Chan Kok Kit, who represented himself, and convicted him of a charge of distributing an intimate recording. The man was sentenced to 20 months' jail. Chan, a 35-year-old Malaysian and Singapore permanent resident, has filed an appeal against the conviction and sentence.

WHAT HAPPENED

According to a judgment made available on Wednesday (Jul 23), the victim testified during the trial that she was Chan's girlfriend from July to September 2022. During this time, they had consensual sex at his home in Pasir Ris, but she later discovered Chan was married and they broke up. About a month after they broke up, the victim was informed by a colleague that a sex video of her had been leaked online.

She searched for the video using her nickname and the area she lived in and found the clip on three websites. Later that same day, Oct 30, 2022, the victim lodged a report at a police station saying there was a leaked video of herself having sex with her ex-boyfriend online. The video was about 10 minutes long and depicted the victim completely naked, engaging in sexual intercourse with Chan at his home.

The victim later discovered the clip on five other websites and made another police report, asking the police to stop further circulation. The victim, whose age was not revealed and whose identity is protected by a gag order, said she had not been aware of any video being recorded. She said she had never consented to any sexual act being recorded.

The court was shown a WhatsApp conversation she had with Chan in August 2022 when they were still together. Chan asked her if she had ever "filmed making love", and the woman replied "no" with a shocked emoji. Chan then asked if she had allowed her boyfriend to film "last time" and she again replied no.

Three days after the victim lodged the police report, she found the same video on a particular website and took screenshots of it. The timestamp showed that the video had been uploaded five hours earlier, and the title included the number of her block, which Chan knew.

The video was uploaded with a username which was one she knew Chan used and that included his name. She testified that she was "shocked and terrified" at this discovery and feared that the video would circulate further. She suffered from "lots of sleepless nights" and developed trust issues with men, feeling "mentally destroyed" by Chan's actions.

At trial, a senior forensic examiner at the Home Team Science and Technology Agency testified that he could not confirm whether the files from Chan's laptop had been uploaded to websites. However, he could see that the user of the laptop had visited the account in question, gone to the upload function of the pornographic website and gone to the videos folder from within the account.

He could also see a video with the URL ending with "Singaporean+girl+(nickname of the victim)+from+(area where the victim lived)+)(her block number)".

In statements to the police, Chan admitted that he had tried to upload the video to three or four websites, but said it was for "storage purposes" and to "remember the victim".

CHAN'S TESTIMONY

Chan, who worked in online purchases and sales, testified in his own defence. He said he had a relationship on good terms with the victim in 2022 but that things turned sour in October 2022. He claimed that when their relationship was good they had mutually consented to film the sexual acts and agreed to visit sexual websites together.

However, he could not produce evidence of this as it was only verbal. He also said they had shared and stored videos mutually and that the victim had allowed him to use her NRIC. They also shared and used his birth date as the password for most of the websites involved.

Chan denied distributing or leaking the video. He said he had uploaded it for private storage on those websites, and that they were not meant for public viewing. He claimed that both he and the victim wanted to store the video and not have it shown to the public, saying they would not agree to the distribution as couples "will not agree to such a thing".

Chan admitted that he knew it was an offence to leak or distribute sexual videos. He agreed that he had clicked on an article on TODAY Online titled: "Man jailed 11 months, fined for uploading videos of himself having sex with women onto porn site". However, he claimed that he did not read the article, and that he "only read the entire title, but not the whole article".

There were Google searches on his laptop about where to upload porn, such as "Best porn website to upload homemade video". He said he wanted to upload the videos but only for his private use. Chan also admitted using his laptop to view porn sites, using search terms to find the video of himself and the victim.

He claimed that the police officer who took incriminating statements from him had used a harsh tone with him and posed leading questions to him.

ACCUSED GAVE INCREDIBLE ANSWERS: JUDGE

Deputy Principal District Judge Luke Tan found that the case had been established beyond reasonable doubt. He found Chan to be "an evasive witness of little credit as he was incoherent, inconsistent and gave incredible answers in court". Judge Tan said there was no logical reason for Chan to upload the same video onto multiple websites if his only purpose was storage.

Chan's claim that his account must have been controlled by someone else was contradicted by forensic evidence of his laptop, which showed that he had created and used the account, said the judge. There was no evidence to support his theory of third-party control of the account.

The prosecution sought 20 months' jail. In mitigation, Chan said he was a first-time offender and had a newborn child. He repeated his claim that the victim had consented to the recording, which was done openly with the camera mounted on a stand. He claimed that the victim was "proactive and bold" and complained that the police had overlooked his statements, according to the judgment.

He also claimed that he had reflected on his wrongdoing and admitted to "committing some wrong" but maintained that the distribution of the video was not from his account. He also suggested that the victim had "pre-planned" the case. Chan is on bail pending appeal. He has other charges outstanding for possessing obscene films and taking photos of a woman's NRIC.
But the number of alleged victims in this case cannot be ascertained for now, as the names of all parties linked to it have been redacted from court documents. The 34-year-old Singaporean woman cannot be named due to a gag order to protect the identity of the boy or boys. On July 9, she was charged with one count each of performing a sexual act on a minor and with harassment.

She is also accused of sexually grooming a minor and performing an indecent act on an underage boy. She had allegedly met a minor, who was then between 13 and 14 years old, at a multi-storey carpark on at least two occasions to allegedly perform an undisclosed indecent act on him in 2019. Court documents stated that between Feb 20 and Oct 8 that year, she allegedly committed an indecent act on a 13-year-old boy inside a car by hugging and kissing him. She is also accused of sitting on his lap and getting physical with him.

On one occasion between November and December 2019, she allegedly performed oral sex on a 14-year-old boy. The woman is also accused of harassment when she allegedly stalked a male victim by sending him at least 18 unwanted emails despite being told to stop communicating with him.

The Straits Times has contacted the Ministry of Education to find out her current employment status with it. Her case has been adjourned to August. If convicted of performing a sexual act on an underage boy, an offender can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined. And for performing an indecent act on a minor, a first-time offender can be jailed for up to five years and fined up to $10,000. A repeat offender can be jailed for up to seven years and fined up to $20,000.
