I think I'm burn out. Coz I've too much time don't know do what even during working hr. Colleges took leave recently so project halt I also chill. I don't think burnout is for busy ppl only, too free also I lost direction.

I thought to earn high income need to become senior manager. My friend who's a 3D artist working for an oversea cmpany full time for a while, making close to 30k a month. He share his story to me how low pay is the local market, basically the local company be middle man and eat a lot, then only pay to local worker.

He opened my eyes a skilled worker can really get paid directly dealing with especially the western or europe clients. He said his rate is still more or less entry level to mid artist rate, that's why his boss leverage on him, but his skill is on par or better than most of the mid as he's 10 yrs exp above.

Globalisation is real, US ppl watch the same youtube with us, what excuse we have not to upskill and only aim for local job market? Internet is changing lives of skilled worker, no need to become slaves to earn sgd.

there's fake news because we have more stupid people than smart people. And also, if we collect decisions of most of the people, it is simply not effective. there's always 20-80 rule, 20 per cent of the population lead the 80%. democracy allow herd to vote, but without knowing the top 20% elite can game the system to favour them, hence we don't have the best leader by majority vote.

i salute sg ex-PM more, he use democracy but rule with an iron fist, because he know allow too much democracy can bring negative effect.

old ppl like to attack millennials for being too unstable but when i look at many young world leader they tend to do crazy thing, ppl like elon who want to create space travel, FB founder who want to create virtual world, or even old timer like apple want to make PC inside ppl's pocket

sometimes i think old ppl advice is overrated and irrelevant. many ppl who listen to old ppl degree is important but nowadays that paper means almost nothing coz it got devalued, so how often should we listen to old ppl?

talent war is real since malaysia isn't a developed country where talent are everywhere, hence we have to hunt or keep talent. how to manage? here's the problem i face:

1. pay higher hurt the company ROI, good talent work fast but the problem is
- company have down time where we don't constantly have project, good talent is expensive
- good talent is easily snatched by other companies, the recruitment fee is 2 months of the salary for top agencies

2. hire avg talent, but their motivation isn't work itself but just chilling around. in the wrong run we have more and more these kind of ppl
- it hurt the talent pool of all the teams
- productivity need to be monitored all the time, these people are like nail that need hammer otherwise output is close to nothing

3. hire new fresh grad
- cheapest options but need to hire coaches to grow them otherwise no mentor guide them they can't perform
- many senior not capable or not willing to mentor young staff
- if things goes wrong company image is ruined, hurt partnership and relationship with client

so there's no perfect solution when it come to manage talents?

Why ppl stay in a company for very long?

Isn't it the grow of your skills follow the grow of the company if like that? Unless your company is growing fast your skills can't catch up, then one day something happens you can't compete in the market anymore. I think those who stayed long probably failed bunch of interview and chose to stay.

What are the things that you didn't realised but now you know after working for a while and have seen work culture in different companies?

The most disgusting one is I've so many impotent colleagues who I really don't know how they pass the interview in the first place still have a job. Top management don't really care their performance coz their function is not critical. But they can't literally work 5 hrs per week, the rest of the time they attend meetings and discuss things, sometime no outcome at all. This is what I call tipu makan or gaji buta. I rather hire freelance which has output.

everyday we're expected to held a zoom meeting. it's funny this new practice is not practical because ppl from sales has nothing to do with us as a r&d team. we don't care their update or they can't understand our discussion. Many times nothing much, it's just 2-3 min update from 1-2 person, but all ppl in the team have to commit at 9am.
