Vaping in mid-air from KL-KK lands 30-year-old medic in court, RM5,000 fine, and a four-month jail term

KOTA KINABALU, Sept 13 — An offshore medic was fined RM5,000, in default, four months’ jail by a Magistrate’s Court here today for vaping in a flight.

Mohd Yasir Dullah, 30, pleaded guilty before magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus, to using a battery-powered electronic device to smoke on the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu on September 8.

The offence was under Regulation 100(1) of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016 and punishable under Regulation 206(2), which carries a maximum fine of RM25,000 fine, a year’s jail, or both, on conviction.

The prosecution told the court that cabin crew detected the smell of smoke in the aircraft cabin and traced it to Yasir, who was seated at 31C.

Do we have to pay capital gain tax for oversea shares trading in US stock exchange via foreign brokers like eToro, IB, etc?

My brother-in-law asked me, he thought I know since I trade Malaysian stock market. As far as I know, for malaysian listed stock, there is no capital gain tax (yet?), if I m right.

But for overseas shares say Tesla, Meta etc, he bought in 2022, then he sold all in 2024. So he has to pay the capital gain? I think no right?

But I do not dare to advise him. So anyone here knows?

My relative just showed my a geran of agri land, the geran stated clearly that title change ownership need MB approval?

Current seller is Chinese, so this is not Malay reserved land.

My relative asking me does this means the transfer of land ownership will be rejected? And in the future if he wants to sell, will be problem?

Also, the geran shows the land only for getah plantation but current owner (the seller) planted both getah and oil palm trees. Will this cause probem like saman or even forfeit of the land?

Just visited Neta showroom, its sales people said now got battery lifetime warantty (also motor and mcu) for Neta V, what is the catch??

For EV, the biggest issues will be battery degraded after say 10 years? Now got lifetime waranty, so I can replace the battery for free?? Also motor and mcu.

I currently is Maxis Mobile subscriber and thus much cheaper if I subscribe to Maxis Home Fibre. But I heard some said maxis home fibre not as stable as unifi? Is it true?

GEORGE TOWN: There are around 400 Form One students in SMJK Chung Ling and all of them want to learn Science and Mathematics in English, according to the school.

This makes it an issue with the Education Ministry directive mandating at least one class must teach these subjects in Bahasa Malaysia (BM) for any school wanting to implement the Dual Language Programme (DLP).

Chung Ling board of directors secretary Foo Wan P’ng said all parents preferred both subjects to be taught in English as in the previous DLP.

“Some parents are worried that forcing this requirement on their children would end up affecting their academic performance,” he said yesterday.

Foo was among representatives of 11 SMJK and Chinese secondary schools in Penang that were not in favour of the latest directive where at least one class must be set up for Science and Mathematics to be taught in BM, as a prerequisite for the DLP to be conducted.

I always patronise the same mixed rice shop, seems like now it is actually cheaper, for similar dishes.

Fierce competition I guess is the reason since there is few more stalls now opened nearby which give people more choices.

Is your area also has similar thing like suddenly one or two hawkers give cheaper price like mix rice. Noodle nope, since it is fixed price.
