Laporan tersebut bagi membantah dakwaan serta fitnah yang tular dalam media sosial terhadap Tok Batin Kampung Orang Asli (KOA) Lubuk Gaharu, Mohd Asmmadi Abdullah, berhubung penemuan pendaki wanita Jaslinda Saludin di kawasan Gunung Batu Putih baru-baru ini.

Tok Batin KOA Lata Kinjang, Rani Bah Ulin berkata, laporan itu dibuat susulan penyebaran kandungan video oleh seorang pengguna media sosial yang didakwa mengeluarkan kenyataan tidak berasas sehingga mencemarkan nama baik Mohd Asmmadi serta institusi kebatinan Orang Asli.

Terdahulu tular satu video dalam media sosial TikTok yang mendakwa Jaslinda telah 'disimpan' oleh tok batin selama dua minggu dan jika perkara terbabit tidak tular berkemungkinan tok batin akan berkahwin dengan Jaslinda.

In a stunning court ruling, the High Court decided that Dr Zaliha Mustafa acted illegally in removing liquid nicotine from the Poisons List, saying the delisting was mainly based on economic reasons and the health minister didn’t consult the Poisons Board.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 — Anti-tobacco groups scored a huge victory today after the High Court ruled that the declassification of liquid nicotine as a scheduled poison was unlawful.

High Court judge Aliza Sulaiman supported two contentions by applicants that the order gazetted by then-Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa on March 31, 2023, to remove liquid and gel nicotine used for e-cigarettes and vape from the Poisons List under the Poisons Act 1952 (Act 366) was irrational, and that this exemption was done without proper or adequate consultation with the Poisons Board.

Justice Aliza described the health minister’s decision to take liquid nicotine out of the Poisons List as being “motivated by primarily economic reasons”, noting that the Ministry of Finance (MOF) had affirmed that this declassification was intended to give effect to taxation on the vape products.

The High Court judge noted that Dr Zaliha didn’t meet the Poisons Board in person and that there was no further discussion after the Board communicated its unanimous decision to the minister in opposing the proposed removal of liquid nicotine from the Poisons List.

The judge said the health minister and the government had treated their “consultation” with the Poisons Board as a “mere formality, resulting in the overwhelming evidence of the dangers posed by electronic cigarettes and vape liquids and the increased likelihood of vapes leading to nicotine addiction on the part of children being ignored.”

Justice Aliza ruled there was no need to consider the constitutionality of Section 6 of Act 366 in the circumstances. Applicants had argued that the provision was unconstitutional because it appeared to allow amendments to parliamentary Acts without parliamentary scrutiny.

The applicants – the Malaysian Council for Tobacco Control (MCTC), the Malaysian Green Lung Association (MGLA), and Voice of the Children (VoC) – did not seek costs. Their counsel, K. Shanmuga, told the High Court that his clients were non-governmental organisations (NGOs) who brought the case as a matter of public interest. The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) was amicus curiae in the case.

As such, the High Court pronounced no order for costs.

Shanmuga told CodeBlue that the immediate impact of the court decision was that the government must reassess the nicotine and vape issue, and decide what was the most effective way to curb the problem.

“The decision also has, I believe, far reaching implications. It shows that decisions regarding health and medical safety should not be determined solely for economic reasons,” he said.

When asked if the court ruling meant that liquid nicotine must now be reinserted into the Poisons List, Shamuga replied: “In a way; the judge has said its removal is unlawful.”

The potential ramifications of today’s court decision are significant, as the government may be forced to stop imposing or collecting tax on vape liquids containing nicotine, besides prohibiting the sale of such products if they are now considered to be a scheduled poison.

In a brief response, MCTC chairman Prof Dr M. Murallitharan told CodeBlue that his organisation would push the government to relist liquid nicotine under the Poisons List.

PONTIAN – Polis menahan pasangan kekasih remaja selepas dipercayai menjerut leher seorang pemandu e-hailing sebelum melarikan kereta milik mangsa dalam kejadian di Taman Negara Tanjung Piai di sini Ahad lalu.

Ketua Polis Daerah Pontian, Superintenden Hadzrat Hussien Mion Hussain berkata, suspek lelaki berusia 18 tahun dan suspek perempuan berusia 17 tahun itu diberkas di kawasan Pangsapuri Rakyat Sungai Putat, Batu Berendam, Melaka, Isnin.

Menurut beliau, polis menerima laporan berhubung kejadian samun yang mendatangkan kecederaan pada jam 8.51 pagi, Ahad lalu sebelum menjalankan operasi hasil maklumat risikan awam.

“Serbuan dijalankan sepasukan anggota Bahagian Siasatan Jenayah dan pasukan Task Force Lejang Ketua Polis Daerah Pontian di kawasan pangsapuri tersebut antara antara jam 7 pagi hingga 2 petang Isnin.

“Hasil operasi, polis berjaya menahan pasangan remaja tempatan yang disyaki terlibat dalam kes berkenaan,” katanya dalam kenyataan pada Selasa.

Jelas beliau, siasatan awal mendapati kedua-dua suspek mengaku melakukan samun dengan cara menjerut leher mangsa menggunakan tali sling sebelum menarik mangsa keluar dan melarikan kereta Proton Saga miliknya ke Johor Bahru.

Beliau memberitahu, selepas melarikan kenderaan tersebut, suspek dipercayai meninggalkan kereta mangsa di kawasan restoran makanan segera di Stulang Laut, Johor Bahru.

“Hasil pemeriksaan lanjut mendapati suspek lelaki yang tidak bekerja mempunyai tujuh rekod lampau berkaitan jenayah dan narkotik selain positif dadah jenis methamphetamine.

“Suspek remaja perempuan pula tidak bersekolah, tidak mempunyai rekod jenayah lampau dan negatif ujian dadah,” katanya.

"Mangsa yang mengalami kecederaan kini dilaporkan stabil dan sedang menerima rawatan susulan di Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Bahru.

"Antara kecederaan dialami mangsa ialah pendarahan dalaman di kepala, calar di bahagian belakang badan, gegendang telinga kanan bocor serta luka koyak pada kulit lutut kanan,"ujarnya.

A hot spring in Gifu Prefecture has suspended operations due to rising crude oil prices caused by the ongoing conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran, which has disrupted its supply of heavy fuel oil.

Ikeda Onsen Honkan in the town of Ikeda suspended operations on April 3 after struggling to secure enough heavy oil to heat its waters, NHK reported. The town-run facility requires about 1,400 litres of heavy oil daily to heat the spring water from around 30 degrees Celsius. While it has historically procured fuel through public tenders each month, many bidders withdrew from the latest tender due to rising tensions in Iran, leaving the facility with only about half the usual supply. JOHOR BARU: A technician was sentenced to 73 years' jail and 24 strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court today after pleading guilty to 10 charges of baby trafficking, sexual assault of a child and producing child sexual abuse material.

The judges ordered that the prison terms run concurrently from his arrest on July 18 last year, meaning he will serve 18 years in total.

For the baby trafficking offences, Imran was sentenced to 15 years' jail each for three charges of trafficking two five-day-old baby girls and a seven-month-old baby boy for the purpose of exploitation in unlawful activities.

All the offences were committed at Taman Melor, Taman Kota Masai and Taman Scientex in Pasir Gudang between 9pm on March 11 and 12pm on Nov 24, 2024.

The charges were framed under Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007, read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which provides imprisonment for life or a minimum of five years' jail and liable to whipping upon conviction.

Before Madihah, he was charged with two counts of committing sexual assault against a five-year-old child and with producing child sexual abuse material by recording a video of the victim during the act.

He committed the offence between 10.30am and 11am in a bedroom of a house in Kampung Pasir on April 5, 2024.

The charges were framed under Sections 14(a), 14(b) and 5 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

The judge imposed a total sentence of 10 years' imprisonment and 12 strokes of the cane for the offences.

Meanwhile, in another court, he also faced two charges under Sections 14(a) and 5 of the same act for committing sexual assault against two children aged between six and seven years old and producing child sexual abuse material.

He committed the offences around Kampung Pasir Putih, Pasir Gudang at about 11am on the same day.

Meanwhile, Nor Aziati sentenced him to a total of 18 years' imprisonment and 12 strokes of the cane for the offences involving the two children.

In mitigation, Imran pleaded for a lighter sentence, saying he has three young children and also supports his ailing parents.

He also expressed remorse for his actions and promised not to repeat the offences.

However, the three judges stressed that the offences committed by the accused were serious, taking into account the trauma suffered by the young victims.

The court also ordered him to undergo rehabilitation counselling in prison and to be placed under police supervision for two years after his release.

Deputy public prosecutors Nur Diyana Zubir, Nor Fadilah Johanuddin and Nur Farah Wahida Shahudin prosecuted while lawyers Mohamed Imran Mohamed Sam and Haziq Ishak acted for Imran.

JOHOR BARU: Federal police are investigating a suspected Johor paedophile over the possible murder of two infants and the disappearance of two other children.

This came following the discovery of digital evidence linked to an international child sexual exploitation network.

Sources said footage recovered from the suspect's digital devices showed sexual abuse of minors, including infants, with one video allegedly showing the sodomy of a child under 18 months.

Two infants, one believed to be about 2-months-old, were believed to have died and their bodies disposed.

Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said no murder investigation paper had been opened at this stage due to the absence of physical evidence, including a body.

Two other children linked to the suspect were believed to be missing.

The scale and severity of the case led to the early deployment of advanced digital forensic tools recently supplied to Bukit Aman by the Australian Police Force, part of a longstanding cooperation.

In a Facebook post by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID), it was revealed that four Digital Triage Kits handed over by Australia in November last year, named the "Green Butterfly Sheet", were in memory of two children who had died and two others still missing in the Johor paedophilia case.

The suspect, a 29-year-old technician with a spouse and children, was initially arrested in July last year on suspicion of raping, sodomising and sexually assaulting five children.

Subsequent police investigations revealed he had allegedly exploited up to 15 victims, most of them foreigners.

He was charged with seven counts under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and three charges under Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.

Pendakwaan kes dikendalikan Timbalan Pendakwaraya, R Nevina, manakala tertuduh diwakili peguam dari Yayasan Bantuan Guaman Kebangsaan, K Bharathi.

Terdahulu, Nevina mencadangkan tiada jaminan ditawarkan kepada kedua-dua tertuduh kerana cubaan membunuh adalah kesalahan berat.

Bharathi bagaimanapun memohon jaminan dengan alasan wanita itu memiliki dua anak autistik (non verbal autism) yang berusia 17 dan 21 tahun yang memerlukan penjagaan.

Bharati juga menyatakan tiada alasan bagi wanita berkenaan melarikan diri atau menghilangkan diri kerana memiliki anak orang kurang upaya (OKU) serta mohon jaminan dengan syarat tambahan ditetapkan mahkamah.

Suami tertuduh yang bekerja di sebuah gudang di Changi, Singapura dan berpendapatan SG2,500 (RM7,900) dinyatakan hanya pulang bekerja pada waktu malam.

Bharathi juga menyatakan Kamala Sarna turut memiliki seorang anak serta isterinya berusia 38 tahun bekerja sebagai juru rawat di sebuah hospital swasta dengan pendapatan RM7,000 sebulan.

In Kuching’s Tabuan Desa, small fire leads firefighters to find makeshift altar, pentagrams suggesting occult purposes

KUCHING (Dec 5): A house in Tabuan Desa here nearly caught fire when a table combusted into flames.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) responded to a distress call at 6.11am, dispatching firefighters from Tabuan Jaya fire station to the scene.

“The fire only involved the table and did not involve the whole structure of the house,” Bomba said in a statement.

Based on Bomba’s handout photos, the burnt table was near a larger table believed to have been turned into a makeshift altar, suggesting that it was used for occult purposes.

This was evident from the discovery of several pentagrams drawn on the floor as well as the wall near the alleged altar.

The operation ended at 6.37am.

JOHOR BARU: Police have not ruled out that the children’s online game Roblox may have influenced the slashing of a six-year-old boy in Batu Pahat.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said the incident occurred on Monday (Oct 27) at Kampung Parit Nipah Laut in Parit Raja.

He said the victim was found with slash wounds on his neck and stab injuries on his body.

“Preliminary investigations found that the victim’s nine year old elder brother had been playing Roblox extensively and had collected about one million points,” he said.

“The boy’s mobile phone was later damaged by his younger brother, which allegedly caused the points to be lost,” added Comm Ab Rahaman.

He then said that the suspect may have experienced hallucinations at night related to the game, during which he claimed he was told to harm his family.

Comm Ab Rahaman said this at a press conference after the Johor police monthly assembly at the state police headquarters on Wednesday (Oct 29).

He said the boy then took a knife from the house and attacked his brother.

“The victim was found with slash and stab injuries. He is receiving treatment at Batu Pahat Hospital and is in stable condition,” he added.

Comm Ab Rahaman said the boys’ parents, both in their 40s, have been arrested to assist investigations.

“Both parents were detained as we believe they have knowledge of the incident,” he said.

“They have been remanded until Thursday (October 30),” he added.

He said police have also questioned other family members, including their 15-year-old sister.

“Investigations are still in the early stages, and we have yet to record the victim’s statement as he has not fully recovered,” he said.

Comm Ab Rahaman said both the victim and his elder brother are under the Social Welfare Department’s supervision.

“They are under JKM’s care and cannot be detained like criminal suspects,” he said.

He added that police have referred the investigation papers to the Johor State Legal Adviser’s Office for further action.

“At this point, our investigation focuses on the family and determining the actual cause of the incident,” he said.

The victim’s mother lodged a police report on Monday.

She stated that her youngest child had suffered injuries to the neck and added that she made the discovery just after waking up at around 5.30am at their home

Navy loses two aircraft from USS Nimitz aircraft carrier within 30 minutes

WASHINGTON (AP) — A fighter jet and a helicopter based off the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz both crashed into the South China Sea within 30 minutes of each other on Sunday afternoon, the Navy’s Pacific Fleet said.

The three crew members of the MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter were rescued, and the two aviators in the F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter jet ejected and were recovered safely, and all five “are safe and in stable condition,” the fleet said in a statement.

The causes of the two crashes were under investigation, the statement said.

The USS Nimitz is returning to its home port in Naval Base Kitsap in Washington state after having been deployed to the Middle East for most of the summer as part of the U.S. response to attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on commercial shipping. Mahkamah Tinggi Kota Kinabalu memutuskan bahawa kerajaan Persekutuan bertindak secara tidak sah dan melampaui kuasa perlembagaan apabila gagal menunaikan hak Sabah terhadap 40 peratus hasil Persekutuan selama hampir lima dekad.

Hakim Celestina Stuel Galid, ketika menyampaikan keputusannya di mahkamah mengisytiharkan bahawa pemberian khas yang dibuat antara kerajaan Persekutuan dan kerajaan negeri adalah “tidak sah, ultra vires dan tidak rasional,” serta melanggar Perlembagaan Persekutuan.

“Adalah tidak sah bagi pihak Persekutuan untuk membuat pemberian khas sebagaimana yang dimaksudkan di bawah Jadual Kesepuluh,” katanya.

Hakim juga mendapati bahawa Perintah Semakan Kedua dan Ketiga yang dikeluarkan oleh kedua-dua kerajaan adalah tidak sah, dan membenarkan permohonan sepenuhnya oleh Sabah Law Society (SLS).

Mahkamah turut mengeluarkan perintah mandamus yang mengarahkan kerjaan persekutuan menjalankan semakan semula hasil bersama kerajaan Sabah di bawah Perkara 112D Perlembagaan Persekutuan, serta bersetuju dengan hak 40 peratus Sabah bagi setiap tahun kewangan dari 1974 hingga 2021 dalam tempoh 180 hari.

Ketua Polis Negeri Sembilan, Datuk Alzafny Ahmad berkata, ibu bapa mangsa yang berusia 46 dan 41 tahun ditahan selepas memberi keterangan meragukan berhubung kejadian tersebut.

“Semakan mendapati suspek lelaki mempunyai 16 rekod jenayah lampau termasuk empat kes yang masih dikehendaki, manakala suspek wanita tidak mempunyai sebarang rekod jenayah.

“Ujian air kencing terhadap kedua-dua mereka didapati negatif, namun pemeriksaan terhadap kereta yang digunakan mendedahkan ia merupakan kenderaan yang dilaporkan hilang dalam satu laporan polis di Nusa Bestari, Johor pada tahun 2022,” katanya dalam kenyataan pada Khamis.

Menurut beliau, kedua-dua suspek akan dibawa ke Mahkamah Seremban untuk permohonan reman.

Polis turut meminta orang ramai yang mempunyai maklumat tampil membantu siasatan dengan menghubungi Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah Port Dickson di talian 06-647 2222 atau pegawai penyiasat, Asisten Superintenden Husairin Che Hussin di talian 012-965 4927.

Sinar Harian pada Khamis melaporkan, kereta berkenaan diparkir di tebing sungai dengan enjin dimatikan sebelum ia menggelongsor masuk ke dalam air. Difahamkan, bapa mangsa keluar sebentar untuk merokok ketika kejadian berlaku.

Dua beradik itu dipercayai terperangkap di dalam kenderaan sebelum lemas, manakala ibu mereka yang turut berada dalam kereta sempat diselamatkan oleh orang awam.

Babysitter charged with neglect, disposing of baby's body

JOHOR BARU: A 46-year-old babysitter was charged in two Sessions Courts here today with neglecting a 12-month-old baby girl and subsequently disposing of her body last month.

Goh Mui Leng pleaded not guilty to both charges when they were read separately before the respective judges.

Before Judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Arifin Ismail, the accused was charged with neglecting the infant at a house on Jalan Hijauan 2, Horizon Hills, Iskandar Puteri on July 20.

She was charged under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to RM50,000 upon conviction.

In a separate courtroom before Judge Datuk Che Wan Zaidi Che Wan Ibrahim, Goh was also charged with disposing of the baby's body with the intent to conceal her death.

The alleged offence was committed around 8pm on July 21 near Jalan Mohd Salleh, Pekan Nenas, Pontian.

The charge was framed under Section 201 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum jail term of seven years and a fine, if convicted.

Deputy public prosecutors Zuhainie Zull Kafli and Shamira Mohd Luthfi Ismail led the prosecution, while Goh was represented by Ismail Hafiz Iskandar Shah.

In appealing for bail, Ismail Hafiz told the court that his client is a single mother of two school-going children, aged 10 and 12, and is also caring for her ailing 64-year-old mother.

The court allowed bail of RM10,000 for each charge with two additional conditions: that the accused surrender her international passport and report monthly to the Iskandar Puteri district police headquarters.

The case is set for mention on Oct 3.

No details on how the baby died and how she was disposed.

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order modifying the reciprocal tariff rates for some countries, the White House said on Thursday (Jul 31).

The reciprocal tariffs range from 10 per cent to 41 per cent and will be implemented on Aug 7.

Malaysia now faces a 19 per cent tariff rate on its goods exported to the US, down from 25 per cent.

Levies on Singapore goods exported to the US are likely to remain at 10 per cent.

The tariff rate for Myanmar and Laos stands at 40 per cent. Both countries did not strike deals with the US.

Cambodia and Thailand both saw a reduced tariff rate of 19 per cent from the previously threatened 36 per cent. The lowered rate comes after the two Southeast Asian nations agreed to an immediate and unconditional ceasefire after Trump had threatened not to make trade deals with either country if they continued fighting over a border dispute.

The Philippines and Indonesia face duties of 19 per cent, as per their previously agreed-upon trade deals with the US.

Tariffs on Vietnamese goods exported to the US will face a 20 per cent tariff as previously agreed upon with Washington.Syria faces a 41 per cent tariff rate.

SEREMBAN: Kanak-kanak lelaki berusia enam tahun yang dilaporkan hilang di Taman Bukit Indah, Iskandar Puteri, Johor, 24 Julai lalu, ditemui maut dengan mayatnya ditanam di Rompin, Jempol, hari ini.

Ketua Polis Negeri Sembilan, Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof, berkata mayat kanak-kanak itu ditemui susulan penahanan bapa mangsa berusia 36 tahun oleh Polis Johor, hari ini.

"Kira-kira jam 4.30 petang, Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) Jempol telah menerima maklumat penemuan mayat di kawasan Rompin.

"Hasil siasatan awal mendapati kejadian awal berlaku di Johor Bahru yang mana seorang kanak-kanak lelaki berumur enam tahun dilaporkan hilang di Taman Bukit Indah pada 24 Julai lalu," katanya dalam satu kenyataan.

Sebelum mayat mangsa dijumpai, Ahmad Dzaffir berkata, kes itu disiasat mengikut Seksyen 31(1)(a) Akta Kanak-Kanak 2001 dan kes Orang Hilang.

Namun hasil siasatan lanjut, beliau berkata, pasukan Ibu Pejabat Polis Kontinjen (IPK) Johor telah menahan bapa kanak-kanak itu.

"Tindakan susulan kira-kira jam 4 petang membawa kepada penemuan mayat mangsa yang ditanam di Rompin. Kanak-kanak itu disyaki dibunuh.

"Kes itu kini disiasat mengikut Seksyen 302 Kanun Keseksaan, iaitu membunuh, yang memperuntukkan hukuman mati atau penjara maksimum 40 tahun dan sebatan, jika sabit kesalahan," katanya.

Beliau berkata, mayat mangsa telah dibawa ke Unit Perubatan Forensik, Hospital Rembau, untuk bedah siasat bagi mengetahui punca kematian.

Sebelum ini, seorang kanak-kanak lelaki dikenali sebagai M Tishant, 6, dilaporkan hilang di Taman Bukit Indah pada 24 Julai lalu.

Ketua Polis Daerah Iskandar Puteri, Asisten Komisioner M Kumarasan, dipetik berkata pihaknya menerima aduan berhubung kehilangan mangsa pada jam 2.15 pagi daripada bapa kanak-kanak itu yang berusia 36 tahun.

Indonesia and Malaysia agree on joint development of disputed Ambalat Block

Indonesia and Malaysia have reached a mutual agreement to pursue a joint development approach to address longstanding border disputes, including the contentious Ambalat Block, a commitment made during a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, June 27, 2025.

“For example, on border issues, we agree that while some matters may still require time to be resolved technically, the principle is that we will seek solutions that benefit both sides,” President Prabowo spoke during a joint press conference after the meeting.

In regards with Ambalat, Prabowo said that both countries have agreed to begin economic cooperation while continuing legal and diplomatic discussions.

“In the case of Ambalat, we agreed that while we continue resolving legal matters, we will initiate joint development. Whatever we find in those waters, we will exploit it together,” he said.

The Ambalat Block, spanning roughly 15,235 square kilometers, lies in the Sulawesi Sea (Makassar Strait) and is rich in oil and gas reserves, making it a highly strategic and economically valuable zone for both countries. The dispute stems from overlapping maritime claims between Indonesia and Malaysia.

The conflict traces back to August 1969, when Malaysia enacted the Essential Powers Ordinance, unilaterally establishing a 12-nautical-mile territorial sea limit based on straight baselines, in line with the 1958 Geneva Convention on the Territorial Sea and Contiguous Zone.

In December 1979, Malaysia released a new map − the 1979 Malaysia Map − that expanded its maritime claims in the Sulawesi Sea to include the Ambalat seabed. This unilateral move triggered formal protests not only from Indonesia but also from several regional neighbors. Indonesia named the disputed area Ambalat Block and consistently challenged Malaysia’s claim.
